if anyone would be kind enough to read this thanks,
i just started doing drum covers and im trying to get more people to see my video cause not many have, if you could just watch this one, i would truly appreciate it. thank you.
Love the snare tone!! 14x6/6.5? birch maybe? let me know the specs and wood type, and the tuning!!! been trying to get a warm, focused, fat tone like that, but still having trouble
i know im gonna get a ton of shit for this, but everyone should look up dance gavin dance and listen to their drummer "Matt MIngus" is is a totally underrated drummer who combines funk, punk, hip hop, and metal beats into a really unique style
@jordanjcm ehh i dont lose. i agree that he is doing more then me, only thing is he is really someone who got lucky. his skill has nothing to do with it. granted, he is giving lessons but if you put this guy up with a band setting(big band, funk, latin, etc.) he couldnt do it. you can say im a loser but you wouldnt know. your just some dude on youtube pretending to know what hes talking about.
@tildeath67 There is NO need to insult other musicians. Why not appreciate the originality of each others playing ability? It is better to say somemething nice, or give "constructive criticism", instead of just "insulting someone who is just doing their best. I bet you appreciate music more then most people, but that should not lead to puting others down. Peace! ( I called you a loser to show you how wrong it is to insult someone you do not know) I do not really think it
@tildeath67 How does Jared have no "feel" when he is teaching a lesson? Check out his solo work on freedrumlessons*com. He's a great drummer, whether you agree or not.
@tildeath67 You're a good drummer yourself, but quit being an arrogant little bitch. This is a well produced video with cleanly executed examples and instructions and doesn't cost a dime. You don't need to be trashing someone that put work into something free of charge. If you're so brazen, go ahead and make some of your own instructional videos and get a following of your own. It would at least be more productive.
@tildeath67 He is giving some simple funk beat lessons. Not for you, because you are the best musician in the world. LOL Those are funk beats by the way.
@jordanjcm i can safely say im not the best in the world by any stretch of my imagination but i can say im a good enough drummer to spot good ones from bad ones. the lessons are for people like you who consider this "funk" LOL. listen to some lenny white and dave garibaldi for real funk. jackass
@tildeath67 "real funk" ? You are not too bright are you? Just because you like it, does not mean it is the only "real funk" . Even though this vid is basic and not up too your high standards, those are still funk beats. Now, go call mommy and ask her why you have no self esteem and then go find someone else that is better then you to insult, that way you feel better about yourself somemore. LOL.
@jordanjcm bud, the fact of the matter is this guy has no feel. and after watching your video i feel like my self esteem went up some more. so id like to thank you for that LOL. and you can come back and say "your not great" but fact of the matter is ill do something with my life and play music for a living i couldnt give two shits about some talentless hack like you on youtube. and lets stop fighting over a youtube channel, its pathetic for both of us and no use since we both think we're right.
@tildeath67 Well, you can insult people all you want. The FACT is this guy has accomplished way more then you. If not, prove me wrong. Look him up online. (jared falk) Then look yourself up and see who is "doing something with his life" as you say, and "making money" as you say. I bet this guy wins and you LOSE. Then again Losers always seem to HATE winners. That is a fact of life. Losers hate winners.
I want to learn to build funky patterns with a drum machine because a dear friend wants to prepare a simple bass demo and asked me to do a little drum programming on funky style.
Having the sheets really speed up my homeworks: thanks :)
guys please help, i spent 66 pounds on a zildjian zbt plus rock hi hat pair and they sound fucking terrible, what cheap hi hat would your reccomend? thanks
@royayersrules - Who ever said funk is a style of rock? Maybe it comes from it, but it is a separate genre. There is such a thing as "funk rock", a blend of both. I couldn't exist if both were the same. And why do you hate "rock"? Maybe you should be more openminded and listen to bands you have never heard before.
Of course, if anyone thinks "rock" means listening to "My Chemical Romance" or that Pete Wentz wuss band (whatever its name is) all day long, then anyone would hate it.
@Miltangelo One can learn to feel funk. If Robert Fripp can go from being a tone deaf, non-rhythmic teenager to one of the most innovative guitar players of the last 50 years; what's stopping somebody with a sincere desire to learn from accomplishing that. Stop being pretentious.

@Toremanntor You don't get it. When I say, for example, this blues is so white, I don't mean to be racist. It's metaphorical. Since blues was "invented" and played by the black community in USA we could say that the pure and soulful blues is "black", the way they played it. I don't mean to say that white people can't play blues or can't do it as good as black people can. No real music lover attributes races to music styles.
@XxZILDJIANxXxREMOxX Wow, "white people" It does not matter my friend. Music speaks to, and can be spoken by, all races. In fact, funk beats can be heard in many different cultural settings. The voicing of the Tabla for instance. If I am not mistaken they are not "black"!
Music is in your soul, you just need to listen to your voice. Some here Bach, some hear Hampton. I hear funk too.
@XxZILDJIANxXxREMOxX excuse my somewhat racist comment, but you get back what you receive.. It's funny watching black people think they know what cool is... XD
@jimihendrixtribute I really don't care what cool is too you (no offense) but i know my culture its a form of expression that comes from hard times and feeling good in the face of problems its still something "blacks" created to express ourselves so excuse me if i care about someone in particular doing a half ass job of something that was made with emotion
PLEASE stop trying to act like funk music was a social statement. It was created so your parents could dance around and act like idiots while they were high. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, stop pretending like you're so offended by a White man playing it. He probably knows more about "your people" than you ever will. Where's your funk video? I mean, you care about it so much, right? Let's see you playing the music of your great ancestor Rick James and George Clinton
hey, wasn't trying to incite anger just a tad snarky on my part. i suppose i was over cruel on his drumming just seemed odd to try and teach this to people. he is indeed better than myself.
@aaronisawesome21 Figure that out on your own did you? I think you deserve a cookie for that. Now go rest your brain must be tired from all that work.

@ViolentBubbles He isn't. While he might sound like he's patronizing the viewers, he's actually doing a great job at making sure that his directions are clear so that we have a good idea of what the pattern is before he actually does it. It helps to put 2 and 2 together so we can learn the beats better and I, for one, think he does a great job.

1. Music
a. An earthy quality appreciated in music such as jazz or soul.
b. A type of popular music combining elements of jazz, blues, and soul and characterized by syncopated rhythm and a heavy, repetitive bass line.
