Today, I learned that, on top of this, the anual Fireman Field Days has been canceled from a combination of flood damage and the ride providing company no longer working with us. So after a hellish year, there will be no end of year fun. I need a way to cheer up my friends and former classmates. I have no ideas, and few resources, but I'm hoping that the community renowned for spontaneous acts of awesome kindness can help me. PS My name is Tad Roosa and school is Owego Free Academy in New York.
I'm commenting here to recruit the awesome people of Nerdfighteria. My High School alma mater is in a bit of a crisis. This year (the 2011 to 2012 school year) has been horrible. They've had two students commit suicide and the flood of the century that left thousands out of homes (including my girlfriend, who still gets nervous when it rains). On top of that, many of the schools programs and sports teams are being cut and teachers laid off.

How is it that this man has the innate ability to make a video like this, which might actually have little inspiration, but by adding the line/cadance "I wake up with 500 miles in my head, greatful and astonished to have the readers and the brother I've lucked into."? on friday, i went to see them. it was amazing, but one of the most amazing parts was when we got there (like 5 minutes late) the van was parked right outside of the theatre. we FREAKED out, took pictures with it, and yes, stroked it :)

The Albuquerque show was awesome. After the show, Hank came out and exploded a confetti cannon, and then John comes out as says that we have to clean it up and that he told Hank not to do it and my sister (being my sister) gets up and asks him what the incentive is and he told her he would donate 50 bucks to TSWGO if we did (we did). Then he came back out and gave her the 50 bucks to put in the bucket.
The best part? My sister is sort of a Nerdfighter by osmosis.

i preordered it on november 2nd. amazon shipped it to the wrong person. that person gave it back to the post office. i called the post office to have them change the address to my address. they said only amazon could change the address. i called amazon, they said they would change the address.
today i check the tracking details and it was returned to amazon.
no signed copy for me now. gonna go buy a blank one at chapters.

Just finished TFiOS. I've never cried more in a single setting in my life, except perhaps during infancy. It was breaking my heart more and more, but I couldn't stop reading. Amazing novel. Thank you for being awesome.

I am faced with one of the geekiest dilemmas I have ever faced. I accidentally pre-ordered a second copy of TFiOS- which came yesterday. While unopened, I can send it back and get a refund. But I will also never know if it has a Hanklerfish or a Yeti etc. inside, unless I open it. It is like Schrodinger's cat. What do I do?

So I had TFioS in class, laying on my desk, and my language arts teacher looks at it, makes this puzzled face, and comes to examine. Then, she's like "Oh! I though that said 'The FART in our Stars' and I was like 'what are you reading?!'" Yeah...obviously not a nerdfighter.

I am faced with one of the geekiest dilemmas I have ever faced. I accidentally pre-ordered a second copy of TFiOS- which came yesterday. While unopened, I can send it back and get a refund. But I will also never know if it has a Hanklerfish or a Yeti etc. inside, unless I open it. It is like Schrodinger's cat. What do I do?
