  • CNG - Natural Gas IS a fossil fuel! While a Prius is very efficient in saving fuel, the materials needed to build a Prius are a huge waste of natural resources, materials, usage & waste materials, which hugely outweigh any energy benefits, returned!

  • If you use the car pool lane, 114 HP at 60 mph is faster than 140 HP in Stop and Go traffic.

  • where can you get the equipment of natural gas to install in my honda car?

  • where can you get the equipment of natural gas to install in my honda car

  • Shoot sounds better than all that electric vehicle BS with charging and battery nonsense. Its not much more than gas versions and the price of fuel is rediculously low compared to gas. I'll deal with the vacuum cleaner sound for a half hour a day before I become one of those people with a Prius.

  • We can now convert used motor oil into fuel. We burn it at the refinery into a gas. The Honda Civic Methane gas can run on refined used motor oil.

  • 6 people have a Prius or Insight.

  • So what is the range? I don't have filling stations in my area that I know of.

  • @TheTuber124 the range is about 200 miles.

  • Talk about a biased review. it looks like he doesn't like natural gas vehicles at all and he tries to portray it in a very poor light.

If Im not mistaken it can even be refueled at home. Not to mention that having these sort of cars will reduce dependence on oil. If there were refueling stations where I was staying I would definitely convert to natural gas.

  • In Los Angeles, the carpool lane doesn't matter lol.

  • What are the cons of Natural gas???

  • oh shit he looks so rich... look at that crib... HUGE

  • Ha I drive a fully loded civic hybrid and a fully loaded prius. Best things ever

  • @IncredableDrE Wait till you have to buy batteries, you going to scrap your cars.

  • 4:00 haha my fav part, "this makes a Prius look like a HUMMER" and a Chevy Chevelle rolls by XD...

  • to bad they only allowed to sell it in like 4 states.

  • The reviewer is super annoying.

  • @apocgamer KBB in the auto industry is a joke anyway. Honda needs to get a true representative that understands what this car represents. This joker is exactly that. A joke. Natural gas is many times more abundant in the USA then oil. I have heard we the USA have 4 times the amount of natural gas then OPEC has oil. This is our way out of the connection to oil. CNG is about $1.40 in most states, get the same mileage and the engines last much longer. Plus, it pumps relatively no emissions.

  • I like the way he said nipple.

  • 5 people disliked this because they bought a prius and are jealous this is greener

  • this guy is a biased mofo with a hell of an ugly goatee

  • this guy is kinda a dick...yea i realized that immediatly wen he started

  • this guy is way to bias to be doing a video like this. he is just saying all the bad stuff.

  • @dcnhvhb cause civic is a real piece of crap!

  • @dcnhvhb if that's ALL the bad stuff, there isn't much to it…..but really, the big down fall is, smaller ciy/states don't have natural gas pumps available…at least what I have noticed

  • Chevy had them for 15 years available in the Cavalier as a 1,500 dollar option. I have one. Trouble is no NG anywhere in most states. Why? Oil companies. They make is sound like Honda thought of it. NG is extremely plentiful in the US. Simply put the ripoff artists artists screw the middle class. And the Middle Class Fully Deserves it. Damn Idiots from hell. Can't tell them crap.

  • NG has better octane rating than gas, always a plus

  • i guess the gist of the video is that this car is a pos. I mean who wants a car that can barely get to 65. a trunk that someone made a good by " a dead body wont fit in there" so i guess no more murdering your friends when you have this car.

  • @paintball227 this is a green car, not a practical car

  • no thank you!! lol

  • N ty..i'll still go with the hybrid one if i'm trying to be green...

at least i don't have to struggle with that trunk space and the annoyance of finding a place to fill it up...

  • I think world has 10x more natural gas than oil! And not all of it it's in Islam countries (like 66% world's oil in middle east).

World need more natural gas engines, why car companies didn't bet on natural gas earlier? Japs should know they have no natural resources.

  • Is the car, I mean natural gas engine build-in originally in Honda?

Because I'm not really convicted in rework companies (that convert gasoline to natural gas engines I think this rework could damage engine).

  • @SladkaPritomnost i am not sure about GX but about 90% people in pakistan now use compressed natural gas (CNG) on gasoline engines. CNG kit is mounted on a gasoline engine, it has a gas cylinder in the boot. It's cheaper and it's cleaner. The only drawback is about 10% less power and you also have to change the engine oil around 4000 to 5000 KM depending on engine oil. Synthetic oil will perhaps last for 10,000 KM. It's a good alternate fuel.

  • Civic *Hybrid*

  • and this is not the cleanness running ever cause make a cleaner running car it runs on hydrogen which Emmit water vapor whats cleaner than that and im sure he was speeding doing 65

  • Everything else is good but why is the trunk so dam small??? I think the Civic Hybird is still better with more than 300 liters of trunk space if I'm not mistaken...

  • @ale03000 The trunk is so small because it's full of fuel tanks. That's the problem with CNG. It isn't very dense as fuel goes, so fuel tanks have to be huge.

  • gayest car ever made

  • If you want a larger trunk space then get a Ford Crown Vic CNG. They are around, they are numerous and they are made in America. Then if you need a lot of trunk space, get a CNG Van. There are a lot of those available at auction. Just check out e-bay. If you want to have the best of both worlds, get a Cavalier or Contour Bi-fuel. That way, if you run out of CNG, you have the gasoline tank to get you to the next station. This is a very poor review of an otherwise good vehicle.

  • @spacestevie2 Check your facts. Almost all US market Civics are made in the US.

That said, you are correct, there are a lot of retired fleet vehicles around that are CNG powered, and a lot more that are LPG powered.

  • @murdelabop The Civic GX is manufactured at the plant in Indiana I believe. Al are made in America. I know of no LPG powered Civics. There may be an aftermarket conversion available, but I have never seen a Propane conversion of a Civic. There are propane conversions of other models and I have seen Propane Crown Vics and GM offered an OEM Cavalier LPG conversion.

  • uhh.. if it only holds 8 gallons or GGE whatever that is.. why is the trunk space so much reduced from the normal gas civic, the tank in my FA1 (Gasoline 2007 civic sedan ex) is 10 gallons and the trunk space is tons more.. i dont see much point of getting this car, you pay more to get the same gas mileage, less trunk space, a 110 hp motor.. for about $1 a gallon for GGE? idk, i would stick with my gas powered civic.

  • @rizrz34 It holds the _equivalent_ of 8 gallons of gasoline. CNG isn't a liquid, like gasoline, but a gas, which has to be stored in compressed form. It takes up a LOT more room for the same mass of fuel. The trunk is so small because it's full of fuel tank.

  • So, it's cheaper to fill-up, It's greener than any other vehicle and there is no need for foreign gas ! So, what if it doesn't go as fast, they keep lowering the speed lmt. anyway !

The US has plenty of natural gas supplies !

This is an opportunity to create new US jobs !

The Gas stations will have to retool for natural gas !

In many other countries they have their cars custom fitted to take natural gas

tanks at a cost of about a thousand dollars ! Let's think on the positives !

  • Any info on a NGV hybrid? I couldn't find anything, I'm wondering if there's some reason why a NGV couldn't also be a hybrid electric. Best of both worlds.

  • @EternallyRecurring Toyota has a hybrid CNG prototype Camry they are testing. They offered a CNG Camry in the late 1990's but did not offer after the 1999 model year.

  • Why don't they make two plug-in tanks? They can design a tank pressure sensing switcher. When one use up it automatically switch to another one. You just drive through their gas stations, unplug and dismount the empty one, then remount and replug a new full tank.

How about the same concept for battery cars? Batteries are a bit expensive. They can accept subscription users and provide insurance and battery life expectancy equivalent package.

  • cng cars would be nice if there were more options available and they somehow found out how to to make the cars not so fucking slow. I drive a diesel right now and get great mpg but and am kind of intrigued by paying 50 cents less per gallon.

  • 2) The tank is pretty huge because this car is manufactured as a normal Civic plus a conversion kit (even if this kit is fitted before the customer purchase the car). check this the 1.4 TSI Ecofuel Passat

  • Well hello everyone.

    1) Honda Civic GX isn't the state of art of NG Vehicles, in Europe there are fast efficient and cool cars run by NG

  • you only have to watch the safety video once, after that you get a code that bypasses it.

  • you can have a lots of power just get a compression of 16:1 and you will get a lots of torque and HP but the engine block have to be build stronger like a diesel but worth it

  • How did the trunk space become so small?

  • @PaulNat360 Its a techno car. Means all the bells and whistles are packed where you suitcase would usually go.

  • It's so satisfying to see such a big and buff American male driving a Honda Civic GX even though he is rich and can afford a Hummer. This guy has no insecurity issues. (Pickup truck crowd) And he is doing his share for the environment which makes him almost like a modern day saint.

  • @avitech77 Yea the American muscle fan boys will never understand this thing called long term reliability. Trust me I have dealt with new car problems that arise after 2 years of regular use but when I bought it, all the paper numbers were superior. In the real world, it wasn't superior because it breaks down. Get a Honda instead, you won't beat people at the red light but you won't get a red light in the dash unless you shoot the engine with a RPG.

  • Once the technology evolves more so that they can run at the same rate as a gasoline vehicle, I would definitely consider it. That's waaaaaay to much of a hit on HP.

  • Naw.. The technology for comepletely hydrogen and electric powered cars has been around for over 40 years,, its all about business

  • Check out Brazil - They have 3 fuel choices (excluding trucks, which use diesel and, soon, biodiesel): the standard gasoline, ethanol and natural gas. Ethanol is cheaper than gasoline and ethanol cars have been produced there since the late 70's; Natural Gas is even cheaper than ethanol, and natural gas cars are a common choice for taxis in major Brazilian cities. The problem is that ng-cars have reduced mileage and lower hp (ethanol instead, increases hp)

  • Natural gas is the next step in energy. The US has a large amount of NG, which could be the next step from oil and gasoline and then onto electric and solar powered vehicles.

  • The "review" was crappy. I didn't learn anything, and honestly, you presented yourself very unprofessionally. In fact, I would be turned off on an CNG car after watching this...if I were as uninformed as you must believe the viewers are.

    I mean, I'm just sayin...

  • I just converted my Scion xA to CNG and I'm real pleased with it. Unfortunately, it cost over $5000 to convert. I can run on gasoline or CNG. The Cvic GX was too expensive and only runs on CNG. Some days I'm in a gasoline mood and some days I'm in a CNG mood.

  • you can get any full injection car runnig with natural gas as long as the compression is higher than than 130 psi. And they are completely safe. it wont burn so don't worry, and gas here in venezuela is free lol

  • @aparatoso1

well at least the gas is...lol.

  • in europe it's the LPG , and the tank can be a spare wheel like in its place or a big tube, but much smaller than you have in US.The filing takes about several minutes.Converting the car to LPG will cost you around 1000 dollars, and the gas is half the price of the gasoline

  • I would like to have a Civic GX. I can't understand why Honda asks $25,000 for it. They build them in Ohio and Indiana and the technology behind it is quite simple.

  • Honda wants to develop more into the idea of a NGV Civic.

  • is that white head a hippie or a red neck....ha ha ha

  • I'd love to have one of these! now.. if only they cost around $5,000 bucks.. ohh well.. guess I'll just drive my 17mpg old truck around.

  • these are a time bomb waiting to explode

  • 1940s'ish?! We drive a larger SUV and my wife rides in back next to our child everyday. No offense, but your video is rather condescending toward a pretty cool car. What we need is Civic GX NG/hybrid vehicle. Why the hell is that not here yet?

  • Probably not enough room for the batteries and the CNG tank

  • Probably a cost issue, the gx is already expensive as it is, a hybrid system might meake it too expensive.

But it would work quite well actually, the battery pack could probably fit under the back seat so that's not a problem, and it would help significantly with the range issue.

  • It took me over a year to get my carpool lane sticker for my car because the stupid, incompetent morons at the California DMV had my car listed as gasoline-powered rather than natural gas powered. The red tape I had to go through to fix this was unbelieveable. At the DMV, I am convinced that they are just running a jobs program wherein they hire a group of bumblers to fix the screw-ups of the other bumblers. Trouble is, you then have to deal with a 3rd lever of bumblers to fix THEIR screwups.

  • 1:44 lol pop it on the nipple

  • nipple?? my head is filthy sorry

  • jealous

  • I have neither and mine sounds and performs great although it is an Si and not the NGV but still for the price it's worth it. But I have nothing against muscle cars either, so that said show some love for those that do it different. Although even as the car i have now is my first civic I do think it is silly to put parts on a car that do nothing to enhance performance but then again people are going to spend money on what they want.

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone had a prob with their civic ?

  • are you being sarcastic here or your actually asking a question?

    hondas are reliable, nuff said

  • They aren't completely reliable.

  • i was actually wondering how natural gas vehicles work...thanks for this informative review

  • i burn natural gas lol

  • I own a Civic GX and I just love it. What I have never understood is why the reduced trunk space is such a big deal. I mean, why do people need such a huge trunk anyway? What do they do, use the trunk of their car to store half of their worldly possessions??

  • A dead human body wont fit in that small trunk.

  • haha.. are you a serial killer??

  • @aargh5 :

It will if its a small child

  • @aargh5 My wife will and that's all that counts.

  • @aargh5 Neither would Caylee Anthony.

  • Same as LPG i think (liquefied petroleum gas)but i still think diesel is better, check my vid response above, it says it all really 82 miles per gallon, surely that's better.

  • very cool, wow.

  • Good review. It's about $22,000 for 2009, and it has less power, worse performance, and its smaller in the back. But then you do get the environmental benefits. But is it really worth it? Considering room, performance, power, and price, I'd take the Honda Civic over the NGV.

  • That's good!!

  • I hate how he completely skips over the fact that it only costs like $1 a gallon. Instead he focuses on how it has 27 less horsepower than the regular civic.

  • In America, they like trunk space so that they can stuff a dead body in the back of the car and transport it to a local dump station and dispose of it there. 70% of us drive with the Trunk Empty 70% of the Time!!! Its basically useless!!! USE THE BACK SEAT!!! That's Balognie!!!

The Civic Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) has enough trunk room for you to fit a "suit case"! The future should see the Natural Gas Tank and battery placed under the vehicle .

  • Mike,

    Thank you!

Very well done! I learnt something!

  • Electric cars are a way to go.

  • Electric cars do more environmental damage than NGV's.

  • I have to respectfully disagree with you. EV's are zero emission and have less parts, and less to maintain mechanically with no fluid changes. They are fast and technology is getting superior with them. However, I would be ok To drive a NGV(pick up truck)if we were to get of oil. Once we start consuming CNG more, the price of that will increase.

  • Electric cars require the use of batteries and to make them, you need very toxic chemicals which pollute the environment. Than to charge it you still use cities power which also pollute the air. Than after the life of the battery, it is now toxic solid waste which is even worse than CO2 which comes out of NGV's.

CO2 can be absorbed by plants while recycling batteries cause pollution and leaving them in a landfill is even worse.

Hybrids are a scam because they harm the earth more than anything.

  • You obviously havent hear of lithium ion batteries.

  • They still do not last that long. And they produce solid waste which is worse.

  • NG is great because we already have pipelines across North America which supply NG to almost everyone. So no additional construction is needed. People can fill up at home or select NG refilling stations. NG also requires little refining, the most damage is only for the cooling which can be improved easily. It burns really clean and all the emissions can be absorbed by plants.

I think the only way for Electric cars to really be environmentally friendly is to use capacitor batteries.

  • what about diesel? i get 82 MPG, check my vid response if you don't believe me.

  • Only problem with diesel, it's no different than than gasoline when it comes to the environment and still being dependent from foreign countries from that energy source. In the U.S., diesel is only used for commercial transportation.

  • Diesel is different, it still burns and produces C02, most fuels do whether they're renewable or fossil etc but diesel is more efficient and in general emissions are lower. For example, my car has the same emissions as a Prius (hybrid) and a Smart (tiny engine) both petrol of course. My Dad has a 1.8 Focus diesel and it emits 50 grams less of C02 than his 1.6 petrol focus did. With a diesel, you don't have to work it as hard to get full power, lots of low down torque, even in my dinky Panda!

  • Diesel is very expensive here. I would just prefer to move away from carbon based fuels.

  • Wouldn't we all? burning fossil fuels has it's environmental costs too but realistically, it will always be used in transportation and electric/hybrid/compressed air etc has only recently become an alternative. Our diesel is dearer than petrol too, but only by about 10p per litre (it goes further, thats the benefit). It's around $6.50 a gallon at the minute, very cheap considering it was $14 a gallon a few months ago! How much is diesel in US?
