  • so yeah, what was wrong with any of this?

  • @dfresh418 If you have to ask...

  • @eatherdrive ............ yeah im askin

  • @dfresh418 And there's your answer.

  • @eatherdrive must be part of the problems

  • @dfresh418 No

  • So as it turns out, you can't sue someone for being mean to you on the phone. Sorry, chief.

  • @irgifted So, as it turns out you can "sue someone for being mean to you on the phone"... They settled. Sorry, squaw. Racial discrimination is bad for business. Imagine that.

  • @eatherdrive Really? What was the citation number?

  • @irgifted Is a random anonymous respondent on Youtube actually requesting a citation number to a settlement they're not privy to? Really?

  • @eatherdrive Wow, irgifted am an idiot. There's quite a difference between "being mean" and racial profiling and blatant discrimination. Anyway, I am very sorry you had to go through that, eartherdrive. And thanks for narrowing down the choices for the next car I rent.

  • @paulc4567 Thanks, Paul. Sorry for the delayed response.

  • She should be fired, and if I am not mistaken this companies policies on employment would indicate that this is what should happen to her as this sort of racism is not tolerated.

Using the comapny logo is nothing but a cheap swipe at all employees that work for this company inferring that they are all racist and the company itself condones racism. In any case was this a franchise (ie. indepenantly owned)or direct corporate location? Maybe the employees should sue you for defamation.

  • @Ansett76 Using this logo is a hint at who the company is and encapsulates the tenor of the recording. To say this indicts all the employees is patently ridiculous. The 'bigot' is the woman on the phone, not the entire work force. That's quite a leap of logic. And you should probably research their company's record on discrimination before defending them. The results might surprise you. This was a corporate location. And you can;t sue someone for defaming you with your own words, Matlock.

  • @eatherdrive your argument does not stack up. you are using, purposely, a worldwide logo under which thousands of employees are directly employed. Public perception of this logo will always be associated with this account of what happened. Thousands penalised for one bad apple, name a company of this magnitude that doesn't have bad employees? I would like to see you prove the 'history of discrimination' this company is highly admired in Australia especially through the 80's.

  • @Ansett76 Your logic doesn't stack up. I would hope the average person would utilize the common sense in knowing that e coli being found in a Des Moines McDonald's doesn't mean the Big Macs in Brooklyn are tainted. Clearly the only active party perpetrating the deed in this clip is the woman. The logo only gives an obvious hint as to which company she works for.

  • @eatherdrive so if you were to do research on this I am sure you can see that you are simply generalising with your complaint, whilst claiming not to. So as Avis is now in charge (since 2002) so this company must also have a history of discrimination and at least condones it? You cannot use a worlwide logo as your 'protest emblem' and claim that you are pinting the finger at 1 lonely employee.....seems to me like you thrive on the 'drama' of it all or you would have deleted this by now.

  • @Ansett76 I did research the company. I am aware that they are 'owned' Avis. And I am also aware that this very same company (under Avis) was forced to cut off many of their branches due to widespread racial discrimination. In a class action suit it was discovered they were systematically denying car rentals to African-Americans. The discrimination encountered in this incident is not an anomaly with this company. Hence, they settled.

  • @eatherdrive That is a comment you should back up with proof. That is one heavy loaded comment. It still does not change the fact that you are purposely perpetuating a myth that this company AND all of it's employees are racist. If you were settled out of court and you didn't do it for the money, then I am guessing you have donated the sum to a worthy charity if it wasn't for personal gain. You will unfortunately find individuals like this all over the world.

  • @Ansett76 How is it a myth that THIS particular employee is a bigot, when I have it right here on tape? How is the company's track record a myth when the suits I referred to are public record. And since when was a 'settlement' only monetary? Think, before you speak.

  • @eatherdrive it would be wise for you to take your own advice.

  • @Ansett76 Now you're just playing "I'm rubber, you're glue". Think, before you speak.

  • @eatherdrive I wil also go as far as to say that if you work for a major well known branded company that there will be some amongst the ranks similar to this person, it is impossible to eploy thousands of people and be 100% sure that these employees are beyond reproach. You really should be victimising the said individual, not the entire brand. Would you have still followed through knowing that there would be no settlement, just a termination (which is warranted) of this employee?

  • @Ansett76 This is not only a red herring, but redundant; considering I not once said 100% of this company was racist. Stop with the straw men arguments already. And you seem fixated on the 'settlement' aspect of this. Get over it.

  • @eatherdrive I also happen to know for a fact that this said company has a course upon hiring new employees that revises the company policy of what in Australia is termed EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) Employer that will not discriminate internal or external customers on the grounds of race, religion, sexuality or anything for that matter. Each employee signs off on this so they can be terminated if this policy is breached. In fact the instructional video is from AB group in the USA.

  • @Ansett76 Perhaps you should have included the price of tea in China. That would have been every bit as relevant as the information you just posted.

  • @eatherdrive it seems as though I keep hitting a 'raw nerve' everytime settlement and money is mentioned. You seem to get great fulfillment out of tarnishing every Budget employee and really you should just get on with it and stop actively playing 'victim' I don't think there is any more money left in it......

  • @Ansett76 Wait. You think you're hitting a raw nerve by being redundant? If you kept repeating that you like apple pie, eventually someone would say to you, "Seriously... Again with the apple pie?" You're not striking a nerve; you're striking a pose. #trollmuch?

  • As an employee of budget she is in fact representing the company. When she is racist the company is racist. The company should thus be sued.

  • @langox510x chances are shes not a "budget" employee shes probably working under a DBA name, which in there contract the Company Avis Budget Group is in no way liable.

  • @dfresh418 Wrong. The woman was indeed an employee of this company, rendering them partial responsible for her actions in their service. They settled.

  • magnolia and cherry ,,??...thats in Long beach, California

  • @fleiva30 Knoxville, TN

  • wow. this is sad.

  • @EbonyyBlackk Indeed it is.

  • Your so called black friends would get stomp buy regular black people. That's why alot of blacks and latinos are hanging together because we know how to keep it real and not fake.

  • @Useyno English. Do you know of this language?

  • Of course you intend to sue, gonna try and hit that Nigger Lotto.

  • Well, you certainly didn't hit the genetic lotto, genius. Your parents must be proud that the tadpole from the shallow end of their gene pool can spell big words, like 'nigger'. lol Get a life and a clue, troll.

  • @blightsofthehighway

see its people like you that make me want to reach through the computer and smack the hell out of you for that dumb ass comment

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Don't use all your big words at once.

  • @eatherdrive whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

  • I m English she sounded very nice and polite to me-why is everyone getting their bowels in an uproar?

  • Could it possibly be the cultural difference between the UK & the US explains why you may not get what the uproar is about? Surely you know that there are things in the UK that would be offensive that we in the US would not 'get' as well?

  • Why would you sue? Us Canadians find it ridiculous that Americans sue left and right for no good reason.

  • Us Americans find what Canadian find ridiculous irrelevant. 'Good reason' is subjective to opinion.

  • @eatherdrive

Ok, so you want to sue because you happened to come across a redneck. Its not the companys fault that shes a moron. If all the morons in the world weren't allowed to work, we'd looking at a much more serious problem then ignorant racial profiling.

I also find it hilarious that you're demanding money for something so dumb. Only in the USA I guess...

  • @Sovereign95: She is an employee of the company. An employee is not just a representative, but a part of the company thus it is the company's fault. If she is not a part of the company, then who is? If your argument was at all valid no company could ever be racist because no employee from assiciate to CEO would represent the views of the company. Your argument holds no water.

  • @Sovereign95 Demanding money? Try holding the company accountable. This is not some dumb redneck at a bar. This is an upper management employee, representing the interest of this company, using company time and resources to discriminate against the general public. Regardless of how hilarious or not so serious you find racial profiling to be, fact is it's unethical and illegal for a public company to engage in such practices. And they have been held accountable. Case closed. You may 'lol', now.

  • Regardless of how people feel about her words/opinions, the truth of the mater is the woman should be fired, or at the very least repremanded for being un professional, That very possibly could have been a Corperet (sp) checking in on there branch, not a good thing to be caught in lol...so tell me did you finaly tell her she was being recorded and you intended to sue?

  • Yes, she was informed (after initially denying the conversation occurred).

  • Good on ya, but I don't think you can sue people for ignorance and hatred, unless they act on it. Probably be funnier to plainly state the company name and out their attitudes.

  • sue that company yo!

  • Well, I hate the racism, but not the racists. She and her employer simply have to be held accountable for her actions.

  • I've managed a rental car company. What I have to say about this is,

"Ghetto" isn't a term exclusive to black people. How someone speaks and conducts themselves says quite a bit about the persons character, not their race, over the phone.

If thats your voice and you had a credit card, It would have been business as usual. Race wouldn't have even entered my mind. The things she said were way out there.

I would probably write budget and demand she be let go before filing a lawsuit.

  • The purpose of filing a suit is not, despite popular belief, simply a matter of money. In certain cases it takes a suit to get the offender fired or necessary changes to be made within the company. People read 'lawsuit' and assume 'money'. But a lawsuit is nothing more than a legal action. What becomes of that legal action is up to the courts.

  • Oh, if it takes a suit to remove her, by all means. I never looked at it for the money rather than the point.

  • @Vlaxitov It's not all about money. It's about accountability. And this was not an isolated incident. At some point the company has to accept greater responsibility than simply firing the employees -- who appear to be typical of their hiring trend.

  • @eatherdrive You would need to prove that the car rental company hired or kept someone on knowing their behavior. Were talking about holding someone accountable for anothers actions. You would need to prove that the company knew about it and let it continue to establish liability. The fact that this recording is around three years old should indicate that you're never going to to do that. Do you even know if that woman works there three years later?

  • @Vlaxitov Actually I did not need to prove that. They settled. The company is responsible for the actions of their employees on the job. They agree this was/is the case and took steps to resolve this incident. Your hypotheticals are much too little, far too late. The fact that this recording is three years old is irrelevant. The case was resolved 3 years ago. What does my leaving the video of the incident online have to do with anything? And this woman's current whereabouts is not of my concern.

  • @eatherdrive No not really, if they paid you, it was like people pay Al Sharpton to go away. It doesen't change the principle. They just saw a cheaper way out than taking that principle to court. They likely paid you less than they would have to spend defending themselves. I don't believe that you got a penny anyway. Why? because such settlements always involve some sort of gag agreement . In otherwords you agree not to talk about it let alone broadcast it, otherwise you'd be in breach.

  • @Vlaxitov What would a conversation about race be without a random mention of Al Sharpton? Guess we'll never know.

  • @eatherdrive Do you even know what you're talking about? A civil lawsuit is about reaping damages, and the majority of the time that would be monetary damages. If a plaintiff wins their case what they recieve is even called a reward. Please don't coment on the law or try and express your knowledge on lawsuites until you do some heavy research, because just pulling bullshit from the top of your ass just makes you look dumb.

  • @langox510x What makes you look dumb is that you've assumed the case would make it to civil court. Has it occurred to you that they would wisely settle out of court for terms beyond a monetary settlement. Ironic how silly trying to make others look silly makes you look. Nice try. Fail.

  • Yeah, I don't let myself get bogged down in mud slinging. The only way for me to throw mud at others is to get myself muddy. I'll pass. Peace.

  • found nothing wrong with comments...

70% of all black infants born without a father figure..

80% of New Orleans on welfare....after katrina...who did all the looting ??

    not racism...just facts..

have you seen looting in florida, other citys struck by disasters?

not me..or at least on national news

  • The only thing relevant to this audio clip that you stated was that you "found nothing wrong with comments". So be it. You're certainly entitled to your opinion.

  • So...this had nothing to do with this clip.

FYI: the looters were mostly cops, though

  • 0_o

  • she's not blk. ♣

  • woooooow...I wonder if the manager has seen this clip, after all, "some [white] people do know how to use the Internet," LOL. That's a shame. I like how the name of the company was Bigot; doesn't remind me of any particular company's logo (wink, wink)

  • LOL! Hmm? What a coincidence. ;o)

  • Love this! Love how she said "Some people do talk proper".

  • Which ironically should have been 'properly'. lol

  • wow 2008

  • Got your back

  • Man I'm trying to hold back my real feelings. Trying not to be negative. I will add this one thing tho:

I WILL NEVER EVER SHOW RESPECT TO THE Caucazoid! They are invisible and a danger to HUMANITY as far as i'm concerned.

  • Oh, lawd! Now, hustle, you know I can't co-sign that. Every orchard has bad apples... no matter what color the apple. One love, fam.

  • yup, fam we got you!!

  • The BGOL Fam has ya Ming Fei Hong!

  • I unabashedly support this company and their anti-Black policies.

  • LOL!

  • Anybody that knows anything about BGOL knows Blunt doesn't post anywhere but there with his sad lonely self. LOL!

  • I hope you will be able to drop the name of that company soon. I feel a boycott coming.

  • I'm hoping they will be wise enough to address the issue properly, without a boycott, but if not... so be it. This will not be swept under the rug.

  • Unfortunately, this is how America is. She's a bigot. Corporate America isn't known for its tolerant ways either is it?

    Good luck with the suit.

  • I tried to reason with them from a moral perspective, but a simply moral approach fell on deaf ears. Perhaps, a suit will get their attention and 'inspire' them to revisit their unprofessional and discriminant practices. I can not just do nothing. Thanks!

  • We blacks need to just wage a all out and out war against whites. They are the ones keeping us down. I mean it! Black America will never get ahead as long as there are whites around making laws who give them the advantage.

  • Nothing could be further from the truth, groundhog2008. The way to end racism is NOT with more racism... that's circular logic. Plus, 99.9% of the White people who hear this recording are also offended (by her remarks) and send me messages of support. I would be remiss to post this clip for the purpose of exposing/fighting racism, if I stand idly by and ignore racist replies. Eye for an eye only leaves us all blind.

  • Yes we do. 100% with you! I'm ready

  • It doesn't suprise me that the area was not even how she described! That's how predudice is, it's a devil with all it's lies. Like Jenna 6! I Thank God my Grandmother raised me right. Her Father was prejudice. He wanted 2 live 2 be 100 years old but the Lord took him before he reached his goal in a car accedent. Funny, I wonder why. She latter married a beautiful black man in the late 1960's. Go Grandmother!!! I love U! The moral of this story is that prejudice will never win!

  • lol@ 'Go, Grandmother!!!' That's an awesome story, Joe! It's hard out here for bigots... Times and minds are changing for the better and they just can't accept it. Too bad. Peace!

  • And why is this grown woman telling you to drive somewhere just for the hell of it?!?

I'm sure she's on that end of town right now, probably visiting with a black man, LOL

  • LOL! That's cold.

  • Wow!

I've been in situations like this plenty of times. And I have yet to understand what it means to "talk white or black"...

Some people really need to get out that box and travel, associate, with other people and cultures...it ONLY makes her sound very silly and shallow to be THAT typical in 2008!

  • BTW: "I'm not in the best part of town" is usually used to indicate politely that you're in a bad neighborhood.

  • BTW: Her original words were 'Oh, my God! You're in the Black part of town!' It was I who rephrased her words to 'not in the best part of town' to see if she was indeed characterizing my location as a 'bad' part of town. She was. In truth, the part of town I was in was actually NOT the (so-called) 'ghetto'.

  • Have you ever been to a ghetto? The GPS system in my car took me through a ghetto in California, for the quickest route on a long trip. Let me tell you: it was the land of Oz during the DAY time. Many people did many foul things to me! People touched my car, through rubbish at it and managed to depressurize a front tire, so I could not go faster than 55mph on the highway.

  • Not sure what that has to do with her inappropriate conduct... Especially since she stated that she would have kept her scathing opinions to herself had she known I was Black. Why wouldn't she want to pass along such 'helpful insight' to a Black customer? Hmm?

  • what a moron>>> you can sue the company...

  • Well is what she said true? Is it in fact a bad part of town and is it in fact inhabited primarily by blacks? If so...what's all the beef about? You shouldn't be angry at a white person for passing along information, you should instead do something to better the lifestyle of the aforementioned people in the bad side of town (in this case, who happen to be predominantly black). There are those who complain, and those who get things done. History and Providence remember those who get things done.

  • Sorry your reply is based on a faulty premise. Her job is to book car rental reservations_ period. As for her statements: No, her statements were NOT true or facts about the area or people. (Not that it really makes a difference.)

  • You can't sue someone cuss they are bigotts..

  • This suit is not based simply on her being a bigot. As I've repeatedly stated, this is just a 60 second clip of a much lengthier exchange/conduct that the suit is based on.

  • Oh...cool.

  • that racist i hate racists *pops cap in kkk member* racists beware

  • SHAME ON HER!!!! I have a friend that says well I like him because he talks white or uses proper diction! I always reply with "why don't U die" "I happen to love Black talk"! NOW I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST PERFECT DICTION, I love both ways of speaking! I just get mad when they don't as well! I love all diversities and wish people would 2! I guess that just the way I am! 2 Say the least my friend realized he likes both ways of speaking too! How sweet.

  • haha you should have said yes you are black, what would she say then!!!!

  • haha white kracka!! lol am a white ass myself. what an ignorant bia*ch !! anyway, i say wat that guy below me says. cant wait to see it on the news!!!

  • Wow, unbelievable.... But what do you mean you are withholding the name of the agency... while you're using a budget renta-a-car logo altered.

But good job. I wonder what prompted you to begin taping.

    -TonyaTko

  • For legal reasons I have been advised to neither confirm, nor deny the NAME of the company as of yet. Thus, I have not revealed the NAME of the company, opting instead for the fictitious (though appropriate) name 'Bigot Car & Truck Rentals' for the time being. How 'Bigot' responds will determine the degree of detail I can expose of this incident. As of now, I will say that this portion of the recording is not at all the most outrageous in comparison to the rest of this woman's diatribe.

  • WHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Well you squeeze them by the BALLZ son!

    -TonyaTko

  • You know I've gotten the same thing ALL my life. I am Black and people have always told me that I "talk white" (as if white people have a monopoly on proper diction). It is always interesting to see people's reaction when they meet me after having talked to me on the phone. Since they think I'm white, I actually get to see/hear their true colors (both Black & White people).

But by all means, please sue "Bigot Rent-a-Car". Can't wait to see this on the news.

  • What's really odd is a Black woman sent me a message saying that basically saying that if I wasn't 'talking White' this would've never happened. Huh?! Should I speak like a 1970's pimp or Mush Mouth to identify my race on the phone? Yikes!

  • Why do we marginalize ourselves so? Everyone does not have to fit into a "Black" box. There is so much diversity in every race..we just need to embrace it.

  • I hear you... The whole concept of 'talking Black', 'talking White' or 'talking' any other race is absurd. As if there aren't enough forms of bigotry/discrimination in the world already. **smh**

  • you doggone right...jive turkey!!! :-)

  • Dont know what to say to this.

  • Oh my goodness Sunn, this is for real? She doesn't even know she has a problem does she...

  • Complete denial.

  • this was too funny....you should've busted her bubble....ole bubbly ass lady

  • To be honest, I was so surprised/upset/deteremined that I wasn't really of how to react.

  • you mean you're not white?

  • lol! No... I'm not White.

  • you're not? DAMN!!! LOL you know I had someone tell me that black people are human just like white people....seriously! I didnt know what to say.

  • I'm sure they meant well, but I can see how you'd still be stumped for a response. People are strange.

  • Flippin disgusting!!!!!

'Coz some blacks talk proper too'!!!!!!

Stooopid ass fool can't talk PROPERLY herself!!!

  • exactly what I thought. so crazy!!

  • I second that! The first thing that popped into my head after she said that, well the second after 'wtf' was 'properLY'.

  • Flippin disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Coz some black people do talk proper'!!!!!

Stupid ass fool can't even talk PROPERLY herself!
