just had to add my bit,i am a pro session player and would like to inform the mis informed"obsessed with comercial talent shows"that jason scheff is responsible for some of the most successful melodic pop rock music of the past 25yrs and has sold 40million plus albums for someone to compare him to a uk/usa talent show i can only assume their tone deaf.
@Fayette or shall we call you Simon we can go back and forth on what I see as great music and what you fail to see and thats what makes the world go around imo.Yes ive seen the first round of American Idol on a few occasions and if I saw a performance such as this then Id clearly see a true musician in my opinion.Im not sure what he could have done to impress you with this song but he pours his heart out into it especially towards the end and if that brings him off key in your mind then so be it
@TimfromChicago hey Tim! You're so right here! It's like Jason himself always says 'do things that come from the HEART and if someone doesn't like it'so be it, but at least you gave yourself and that's what matters most! That's what the people feel! "
@Fayette well this isnt American Idol its Jason singing it without the backing of a band and singing it straight from the hearty-not to impress a judge. So glad your not on the panel fayette you might miss some great musicians
@TimfromChicago Maybe you've not seen American Idol first round auditions, but they sing without the "backing of a band." And if i was on the panel, I wouldn't miss any musicians because I would be hearing them in the FIRST round. I'm sure Mr. Scheff is singing it "straight from the heart." Call me crazy, but I just prefer heartfelt singing that's on pitch.
This song is not bad. But, im sorry, this album was not good. original chicago back in the good ol days with horns and good guitar solos. Make me smile, free, saturday in the park, all better by far
Thanks for posting this. As an avid fan, who has attended more than 85 of their concerts since I was 17 (lost count) I have always been impressed when the band allow Jason to sing his songs solo (Will You Still Love Me?) Saw them tonight at the Coto De Caza Country Club and Jason must have lost 20lbs since I last saw him!
Why do people always has to bring Peter Cetera , even when it comes about Jason's solo performances? Peter has his style, Jason has his. Jason's not perfect, but Peter isn't either. I agree with Guncontrol in saying Jason uses his voice in a unique way, so he doesn't sound like Cetera, or anybody else. Look at Colombian singer Shakira, she has a weird way of singing, it gives you the impression her voice is cracking, but it really isn't; she does whatever she wants with her voice.
Great performance, wish i could of been there looks lke a great setting for a concert like this.Samcockrell-thats just your opinion and you know what they say about opinions.I personally think Jason is an amazing musician and has made Chicago better but thats my opinion.
This is one of those songs that just tears your heart out, huh? I saw them at Chastain Park two summers ago, and I too was looking forward to them doing this song!!! They did 'Feel' instead (which is great, too). Whatever the case, they rocked the place!!! They always deliver at their concerts! :)
Ohhh yeah baby... ive got what u need, heels, toys, outfits and much more hehe .... i do what u need anal, oral, cam2cam I PLAY WITH ALL THE RIGHT TOOLS HEHE I DO TICKLE SHOWS, ROLEPLAYING AND MUCH MORE HOW ABOUT U TRY ME OUT FOR SIZE!! sooooooo beautifull eyes...tender look, artistik look, deep look, magneficent look...and many others...i can talk about my eyes so long as you even can't imagine..come visit me at FriendlyFlirts * COM my user-id there is Megan-xtco chat soon on cam;)
I didn't think he was that bad,one of his best live performances that I've seen...But he does have times of cracking on his live performances..I agree with you in better use of words..that he's a better "studio" singer than he is singing live .This is a amazing Chicago song..reminds you of their vintage 80s stuff.
I agree. What a great album cut at the very least. My second favorite cut on XXX, next to "Long Lost Friend." Jason is writing and singing better than ever. Forget about Cetera, he's been gone for over 20 years and brought the band into bland ballad land. XXX puts the debate to rest for me, esp. now that he sounds like himself: Jason is better. He's the one writing everything now too. I love his energy.
not so fast you are right jason sounds much better doing his own tunes never has sound good doing cetera peter is one of the best singers in all of music i love jason bass playing and songwritting but make no mistake

This is THE best ballad on the CD and probably their best in years. And I'm not a Chicago ballad guy. This should be a live staple -- I was very disapointed to not hear it last year.
Think hes talking more about the way the song is done compared to the album form. Scheff live sang it more like the demo, than the finished version, less heavy, more of a country sound than rock sound.
This is what I think Scheff does great....singing his own style.
That's why Cetera fans get pissed with him because he doesn't sing like Peter....AND WE WON'T!! Cetera had his own style, and so does Scheff. Scheff just uses his voice and makes his talent unique so that he doesn't look like a Cetera-wannabe. And even if he tried to be more Cetera, people would bitch about that because it still isn't Peter. lol
Maybe one day, probably in the distant future, there will be peace on earth and a jason sheff related video without a comment about peter cetera

Whew! That was tough to get through. And to think people pay good money to hear that warbling. He couldn't get past the first round of American Idol.
