Nice post thanks, great memories, Granny lived on John Knox St. I remember the high walls of Duke St. prison and listening to my echo underneath the Bridge of Sighs. Granny would give me threepence to get " two sheeps tails for the soup " from the butcher.
In my teens I spent time chasing a fair lassie in Partick and Whiteinch,,oh she was lovely. Then in '65 I was off to Canada, on my own at 19. I loved old Glasgow, barely found a trace of it when I was home 5 years ago, enjoyed this clip.
the wee lassies in the gorbals like my maw who walked across the suspension bridge in the "green "to school at charlotte st convent. The boys in the school photie look like myself but they all did.

Paddy, we tend to look at the past through 'rose-tinted spectacles'. Times were tough for many people then, as they are now.
All the best.
