The code for this thing and it's ability to play an accurate set of sounds is going to end of being giant. Why can't I find any of the code, I want to share../.
i think it might be because of the predictable scales in jass that makes the robot able to work, if this was classical it would simply play the tune from a stored list like a midi sequence, where as this is improvising based on what is being played on the piano.
very true, also i would love to see the robot compose something entirely on its own. just tell it what notes sound good together, and what timing sounds good together and let it run.
the sound quality is amazing i would say if best buy had internet they could show case this video to show how the speakers and picture quality of a computer before someone buys it ya know
Never will they replace the human errors which may make the beauty of music, the off-beats, the movements of fingers on fret boards, the sticks hitting the rim, etc...
I guess the robot just hasn't learned to swing yet.

There was a bit there in the middle where the robot seemed to get into it's own thing, which, as far as I know, really kinda killed the piano part :P
Still, most of it as very impressive, I'd like to see it move away from jazz, and do pure classical, though.

Maybe so, still, otherr genres would be nice to see. I know of software that can compose piano pieces for classical play.
I imagine the hardest to do would be modern rock.

Yeah, use a highly compressed, low bitrate YouTube video to show off picture and sound quality. That's a good idea... *facepalm*

I wonder if the robot is really playing on-the-fly or if it has the music ahead of time.

Nice mallets! We ended up using several models, with the LVH for the highest register to get a brighter sound

It takes a human to display fondness for something defined simply as a mistake. I for one welcome our new jazzy robot overlords.

I have a feeling it'd do a lot better at a straight ahead jazz tune with a solid tempo. It seems to kinda fail when the free tempo places comes in.
