It's my belief that a Lion will kill a Tiger almost always. Due to the fact that Lions are pride animals as opposed to Tigers who generally are solitary animals. Also Lions must fight each other to sustain the right to breed with the prides lionesses. On the other hand Tigers don't have to fight each other to breed. On rare occasions will two male Tigers fight each other and when it happens its because both Tigers want to mate the same Tigress.
As a specie the lion are better fit to survive because they live in prides.
Siberian tigers are usually heavier (fat) and longer than the lion, but the lion are taller, faster and better at fighting in group. All other tigers are smaller except occasionally the bengal tiger. @Cheetree1 tigers dont usually use much strength when fight lions..since they usually swipe. a tigers swipe doesnt hav much power in it but is fast lik a jab. a lions swipe is slower but has more power behind it. lik a straight right. and tigers hunt alone so that counts for the low kill rate.

lions have much longer legs, built like a cheetah's with more muscle than fat to run faster. lions evolved like that to chase fast prey of africa. their power source is further away from impact zone

Lions are successful because usually it's the females who hunt and they get the kill more easily than a lone tiger in the jungle. A tiger would be successful if it ambushed prey. That's not easy to do in the grasslands of Africa.
Lions are also more ferocious with more testosterone in their blood on average. Tigers aren't all that ferocious and usually don't fight to the death in the wild.

Tigers are stronger but which one of them, sumatra tiger, Bengala tiger or the great siberian tiger...I think a full grown siberian tiger (800 or more pounds) could kill easily the strongest lion on earth..lol Bengala tigers are aprox same size male lions, that would be fair.

in South Korea's Everland safari, they put tigers and lions together in the same habitat, and its always that tigers beat up lions like their punching bags

IMO This fight is equal. No combatant will 'easily' beat it's opponent. Either could win. I think this because their strengths and weaknesses cancel each other out. e.g. Bite forces are equal. The tiger's strength is cancelled by the lions aggression. The tigers speed is matched by the lions taller and more intimidating appearance. The Lions mane is cancelled by the tiger's power.

@use2slam2 There are many instances in India where Black bears ran away from Tigers. Agreed a Alaskan Grizzly is much larger than a regular Tiger or a Lion and I would even say Stronger. But I don't know if a Lion would back down from a Bear. We don't know for sure. Lion knows no fear mostly. So I am assuming he might fight the Bear. In Siberia Tigers are known to kill Bears. A bear has weight but so does a buffalo. Lion is more agile, smarter and has nerve wrecking roar.

@Cheetree1 tigers dont usually use much strength when fight lions..since they usually swipe. a tigers swipe doesnt hav much power in it but is fast lik a jab. a lions swipe is slower but has more power behind it. lik a straight right. and tigers hunt alone so that counts for the low kill rate.

@xrzr13 i dont think you could really tell unless you actually did a test, but it makes sense to say that the tiger has a more powerful swipe because of the extremely short legs, so the source of power which is the whole body is closer to the impact zone
lions have much longer legs, built like a cheetah's with more muscle than fat to run faster. lions evolved like that to chase fast prey of africa. their power source is further away from impact zone

Lions are successful because usually it's the females who hunt and they get the kill more easily than a lone tiger in the jungle. A tiger would be successful if it ambushed prey. That's not easy to do in the grasslands of Africa.
Lions are also more ferocious with more testosterone in their blood on average. Tigers aren't all that ferocious and usually don't fight to the death in the wild.
A given fight could go either way

Tigers are stronger but which one of them, sumatra tiger, Bengala tiger or the great siberian tiger...I think a full grown siberian tiger (800 or more pounds) could kill easily the strongest lion on earth..lol Bengala tigers are aprox same size male lions, that would be fair.

in South Korea's Everland safari, they put tigers and lions together in the same habitat, and its always that tigers beat up lions like their punching bags
and once awhile u hear a tiger kills a few lions there, but never the other way around
so it is proven, dont bring up that "oh but theyve never fought" crap up
they fight all the time in Everland, and tiger basically always win
you can ask the zoo keepers in Everland or check their videos on youtube!

@montezoma they are really far from identical. very very far. one fights to the death, the other one avoids huge fights at all costs. one looks out for a pride, the other one looks only for itself. one stands its territory, the other one can switch jungles at any given time. and so on. but i do agree that the arguements are stupid. if every professional says that lions wins, it doesn't matter how many times people argue. the important thing is to watch out so neither of those 2 species goes ext.

IMO This fight is equal. No combatant will 'easily' beat it's opponent. Either could win. I think this because their strengths and weaknesses cancel each other out. e.g. Bite forces are equal. The tiger's strength is cancelled by the lions aggression. The tigers speed is matched by the lions taller and more intimidating appearance. The Lions mane is cancelled by the tiger's power.
However I may be wrong. This is just my opinion

@use2slam2 There are many instances in India where Black bears ran away from Tigers. Agreed a Alaskan Grizzly is much larger than a regular Tiger or a Lion and I would even say Stronger. But I don't know if a Lion would back down from a Bear. We don't know for sure. Lion knows no fear mostly. So I am assuming he might fight the Bear. In Siberia Tigers are known to kill Bears. A bear has weight but so does a buffalo. Lion is more agile, smarter and has nerve wrecking roar.
