@donnelrj01 Erythritol is so readily available that ETN is not only easy to make, it is also quite cheap, and produces nice hefty yields. The synth is so cheap compared to other energetic materials that it is hardly worth arguing about.

@dasgemuse MHN is mannitol hexanitrate. Mannitol is another polyol or alcohol sugar, like erythritol. Other polyols include xylitol, sorbitol, maltitol, etc.
@dasgemuse Great video! How did you initiate? I know that flash powder will work, but I've also heard that it doesn't always work and you may end up wasting a bunch of etn before getting a good, high order detonation.
@dasgemuse ETN is fuse sensitive, but the greater the energy imparted upon an explosive compound during initiation, the greater the energy of the subsequent explosion. Therefore, initiating ETN with a gram or so of confined flash powder makes for a very impressive etn detonation.
Hi great job! I gave You 5 stars and accepted Your video response. I have a few questions: What was the diameter of the tree and the diameter of Your detcord and could You estimate the density of ETN in detcord. I plan to make and test some ETN but where I live it's hard to get erythritol :(

It's not; Just simpler to make AND Pentaerythritol is more expensive/watched in a lot of places.

this is very interesting to me because ,certainly i dont have any ETN but i have some MHN and this HE es very similar and a little less sensitive.
maybe i should try this.

i have never heard of MHN. i just did a brief wiki look-up, and am quite interested in what seems to be an easy and simple synthesis.

probably TATP. i don't remember exacty. ETN CAN be set off without a detonator. i think you have to have alot of compressed ETN.
you should still try it...
