The problem with gitmo is not just that it holds innocent people. That is bad but the fact that everyone in this world knows that torture was committed there and Al Queda actually uses it on their posters to recruit members is far worse. Gitmo is a bloody stain on the nation like slavery before the civil war and segregation for close to a century after. It just shows how the US doesnt practice what we preach. We speak of ideals and break them with actions.
We can't afford to improve the economy or close a national disaster that is Gitmo and condoned torture but we CAN afford massive tax cuts on the wealthy and two decade-long wars and going. Where are the priorities? Bush was the one that multiplied the deficit by a mountain while clinton did everything he could to straighten it out.
bust up the country into 50 independant entities. let everyone bail their own fucking selves out,. let california pay for their own screw ups same with all the other idiot states like ill. conn. fla.
If the average deficit during the Bush years was $245 billion, how did the national debt increase $5 Trillion during his term. Either Bush was in office for 20 years or simple put Senator, YOUR kind of arithmetic just doesn't sell.

I don't think we'll have to worry much longer with 30 states onboard for Sovereignty and I'll bet money before the end of next month it will be all 50 states: )
Read the bills. They say little more than, "Hey remember the Tenth amendment? Sure, we've ignored it for the last eight years and granted the president unprecedented powers, but just to let you know, we reread our constitution and now that the president is of a different party we are going to try not to grant you any more powers. Oh, and if you could give back the ones we gave to your predecessor, that would be great. Thanks."
Without the rule of law we have anarchy. The problem with Gitmo is that it holds innocent people--that is, people who have not been found guilty in a court of law. We have not declared war, so these people are not prisoners of war. If you consider the "war on terror" a war, then there is no end in sight and you would argue that the US should indefinitely hold these people without trial. For the same reasons we ended torture, if there is one thing we must not do it's sacrifice our own principles
All the GOP has fear, smear and scare, They wrecked the country and are going to do everything they can to sabotage Obama's agenda to bring this nation back on track...all while claiming how much they love America. What a bunch of corrupt, slimy, hypocrites.
The only problem I see with gitmo are the thugs doing the torturing.Run the prison on the up, no problem. The rest, I personally do not think he can deliver. Thank you Senator. : )
We have to fight cap and trade! It is outrageous and will potentially reduce global temperature by 0.1 deg. This cannot pass through congress.......I don't even know whether to cry, laugh, or scream about this! It is utterly absurd.........

Jim inhofe shouldn't compar obama years to bush years
Bush entered when the economy was doing great and we had a surplus and when obama got in we had a deficit and a bad economy

You are absolutely right on Sen Inhofe!
We CANNOT afford to close down Gitmo or put America's security second to the flawed opinions of foreign governments!
