  • I stand by this song everyday of my life becueas the words are so true.

  • @HikachiNakashima I know what you mean I do myself :-)

  • the very first time I heard this song I knew I would learn it by heart. By now my parents, too, have learnt it. well, they don't sing with me but certainly listen to it very often:)

  • @erinviviane That is awesome...when I first saw the movie and this song inspired me and I got the visuals of mountains in my head- decades later I posted this video :-)

  • 0:01

  • climb every mountain

  • I have always loved this movie - this song gives me goosebumps, so moving....thanks for posting such a timeless classic....

  • This is the first time I've heard this piece - only a few minutes ago I listened to a short, few second clip of it and I instantly knew I had to hear the whole thing.

  • Divine!!! <3

  • Momento mágico, criaturas mágicas fazem em nossas vidas verdadeiros milagres, nos fazem bem, músicas como estas nos levam à eternidade !!!

Que canção, que interprete, que momento maravilhoso !!!

    Ivan Bocalon

  • My manners may be slipping jenifaui, MinziTolero1, and paulkate72, but I live on a forested Asian hillside and need check no source outside my head to know that Peggy Wood is not singing here (and maybe couldn't even sing in the shower). The singer is Marni Nixon, who also sang for Deborah Kerr in The King and I and Natalie Wood in West Side Story. (You might say Ms. Nixon sang in the Woods.)

I believe I'm right in saying that Ms. Wood never sang a note on CBS's Mama (based on I Remember Mama).

  • @thaiguy1943

Correction on the singer of "Climb Every Mountain." Margery MacKay was the ghost voice for that recording.

Marni Nixon is a righteous guess considering she had one of the most famous voices in Hollywood history with no facial recognition. However she can be seen as Sister Sophia in "The Sound Of Music'" as one of the vocals in "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria."

  • Well, it wasn't a righteous guess. As Rick Blaine said, "I was misinformed." Thanks for the correction.

  • What a song...what a movie...what an interpretation...beautiful, Jeff!!

  • Don't let obstacles and hardships deter you from achieving your ends that you most value, work for them, it won't be easy, be steadfast, be stronger and resolute, achieve them. The spirit of the journey may be worth more than the end, the end is the ceremony. Add value to the world.

  • every time I have a problem I think of this song.

  • These walls were not built to shut our problems. You have to face them! You have to live the life you were born to live

  • lol I have the Broadway script! :-P

  • That is not HD, I can bearly see the mother-nun's eye, let alone the pupil nor their exact colour; it could be better than this.

They should renact it, this time with HD 3d lenses.

  • nice editing ... thanks...

  • I always liked this song, but couldn't stand watching this scene. It interrupts the flow of the story too much, just standing around singing with no action and no advancement of plot. But yeah, Peggy Wood is very talented.

  • @jenifaui I actually love this scene...it adds a different atmosphere to the movie, it's stark and intimate....just the two of them there, as Maria confides in her.

  • This made me feel good to listen to / watch. Thanks for sharing :o)

  • @the1texasmccoy You are always welcome!

  • Muito bonito, você introduziu fotos nos momentos certos, fotos dos momentos da canção.

  • is Julia Andrews the one singing this song?????

  • @pianomanmaestro No. It's Peggy Wood.

  • Pretty good song and what a powerful voice Peggy Wood has. That's real class, to be able to hit the high notes and stil look as though the whole thing is a walk in the park. Great song, great singer.

  • I'm glad my boss doesn't sing whenever I'm getting feedback

  • I love this song! Had it sung at my wedding

  • Minhas montanhas não são cobertas de gelo, minhas monyanhas são verdes assim como a esperança ... Minhas montanhas são verdes ! Elas são minhas montanhas!

  • I can't stop listeing to this song!!!! lol :)

  • @fullhousefrek

Get the video and listen to the original without any alteration which this version is.

    .

  • the lyrics ARE inspiring

  • They just went on a day trip to Switzerland & never came back. I remember the summer this came out in 1965. Coming from a small town I was not used to movies playing for 7 months. I thought to myself that a lot of people must like that show. When I saw the Video of the movie I found out what all of those people knew and I didn't until then. Maria in real life was a hard mother. She wouldn't let any of hers fail; it was unthinkable. That's where goodness comes from!

  • This is the part where Maria has to face her decision to follow her DESIRE....and she gets a full gp ahead from the church to GO FOR IT!!

  • The Reverend Mother is right when she says,

"These wall were not built to shut out problems, you have to face then."

If you always refuse to face you own problems and troubles in life, you will end up missing out on the good things that really make life worth the living.

How to you think I got so wise, in the first place???

I've faced and conquered scores of problems and troubles of my own. Each one left me a little more wiser than before I decided to face the problem in question.

  • @TheWiseTyronian You are absolutely right! Thank you for the comment!

  • @TheWiseTyronian This beautiful anthem to life comes from an era when people actually took responsibility for themselves rather than blame everything on their "shitty childhood" and hide behind being a victim. Sadly, those days are gone, and all we have left are people who would rather live vicariously than face the real possibility of failure and problems. By doing so, they "laugh, but not all their laughter; and cry... but not all their tears."

All things shape us- not just the good.

  • @dieselheart001 I concur...well said. As I recall, there is a plaque at the cemetery overlooking the Normandy beaches which states " All gave some; some gave all". By comparison, most hardships and obstacles in life become patently insignificant.

  • @dieselheart001, That is so true.

  • the original one is still the best to me

  • I grew up watching this movie about once every year at least...timeless...

  • I loved this movie! This is a beautiful clip!!

  • @SpringtimeSkies129 Thank you!

  • Probably the most powerful song ive ever heard, and as a father, i would love this song to be played when my daughter walks up the aisle in church on the way to being married, how proud and emotional that will be.

  • @lifeonthebeach

    well said,all the best

  • what part of this video on the movie? or the what cd? i didn't seem to see this, or i just forgot.

  • @CartridgeTrigger This is the part where Maria has to face with the decision to follow her destiny....so she had a talk with Mother Superior ....

  • Very Beautiful !

Thanks for posting Petra & Jeff .

    Take care always....wenhsing

  • Very lovely!

  • @MoodyJill Thank you Jill, I love this movie ...about destiny

  • @EssentialDegnities people who don't LOVE this movie frighten me! Classic - great tribute - peace ;.)
