There is unfortunately every acceptance of exaggeration and 'gutter' talk among the media in Ireland. It's also unfortunate that many people are voting against small hardline groups like Sinn Fein, Coir, and Libertas. Is it our fault that the big political parties don't see sense? No.
The big issues here are the further decline of democracy via Lisbon treaty, & what we need is a better direction for the EU, that's all. I suppose that makes me an extremist too? Absolutely not. Vote no.
From your comments it is clear that you don't know the first thing about the Lisbon Treaty. The purpose of the treaty is to make the EU more accountable and more democratic. Please see the referendum commission's website for an honest/ neutral view of the changes that Lisbon will bring in.
The EU is a club of countries not some monster organisation. You guys remind me of small minded nationalists who are willing to kill for their country but wont bother to do some research and read a treaty.
I have read the treaty. If the purpose of the treaty was accountability and democracy then that is a failed purpose. A more realistic purpose comes from Barroso who says the treaty confirms the way the EU has already been going, and if that direction isn't properly democratic then we can only conclude that it is a wrong direction.
The only killing that seems to be supported is the new wars over resources as mentioned in the Lisbon treaty.
What club takes powers from others and implements laws in which no member has a say(the people). The Eu has moved away from the "club" and is now becoming more like America.
I am here in Brussels and would beg to differ, first hand not from some sell out government website I tell you what is clear, and that is that you are a shill and you should be ashamed of yourself, it is also very clear that you do not value democracy, Ireland voted NO, a little over a year ago and Cowen said there will be no revote the next day!! THE PEOPLE HAD SPOKEN, article 48-A, A self amending treaty, They can change what they want after without a referendum. It could be your lastvote ever
