It would definitely be more perceptive if it was cheaper. I mean teenagers won't want to spend $30 on that. Also, you're paying for an app that prohibits you from texting which you could do for free. There's another app called DriveSafe.ly which is free which auto-replies & reads you the text & starts when the car is in motion. I know it's for Blackberrys but it could also be for other smart phones.
Seriously? Texting and Driving is just as bad as drinking and driving. I'm pretty sure you don't want your kid (if you have any) to be drinking and driving, why then would you want them to text and drive knowing that the likelihood of crashing is the same? I personally am an advocate for making it illegal across the U.S. for texting and driving, but I honestly don't think that will solve anything. Its already illegal in quite a few states, but that doesn't stop people.
@burbuja994 I don't text and drive (or even call and drive) to begin with, so I have no problem with the law. I do have a problem with technology designed to prevent people from breaking the law. There's a difference between letting people suffer the consequences of their actions and preventing them from taking the action at all; the only logic behind the latter is Fascism.
Such a program needs to be implemented nationwide. When you text and drive you are no longer simply endangering yourself, but everyone who is on the road around you as well. The reason drinking and driving became illegal was because it was for the betterment of all people on the road, the same should go for texting and driving. If such a program was implemented nation wide I am positive that the number of crashes and fatalities due to cell phone usage will significantly decrease.
While we prohibited DUI, we didn't install breathalizers into our cars' ignition systems. Though I find no problem with a prohibition of TWD (texting while driving), I am a strong opponent of forcing people to obey the law in place of punishing them if they don't.

How long before we're implanting chips in our kids' heads to turn them into semi-mindless zombies who never screw up?

@burbuja994 I disagree wholeheartedly.
