Keep it in the here and now. The nature of their work makes them suspicious of everyone. Even if you are the victim of a crime, they will consider you a potential suspect of something else. @prmurphy147 While I would not go so far as to compare most police to Nazi's, it is the militarization of the city (hell, and even local police in some cases) thanks to the dispersal of military equipment and training to local and city police that has brought on a frightened public. Their overzealous attitude has resulted in deaths in cases where "swat" teams have stormed into homes of innocent people (erroneously targeted as drug dealers) and resulted in heart attack deaths and the like of

At a state hospital (for the mentally ill) about 9 years ago one such swat team responded to a mentally disturbed employee gone amuck with a (black powder) handgun who held two nurses hostage. The swat team managed to get one of those nurses killed by their inept handling of the situation and the other seriously injured. Police should not be trained the same as soldiers. There was a time when the public trusted police- but, NO LONGER!
