Think about other sports which are in the olympics, like bobsledding or luge. Aside from pushing the sled at the start, it's basically all skill thereafter. No you try to get as much of your blocks inside the circle, while trying to knock ur opponents out.

Once both teams run out of blocks, referee counts the team's blocks to see who has higher score. OK curling is only boring, cuz its slow and no body knows how to play it. Sports are more fun to watch, when you know all the rules and know how to play it.

And no curling is not pointless. Its not any more pointless than trying to kick balls through a rectangle, or shooting balls into baskets...
