I'm not a pro in classical music, but I think this is a very good and consistent interpretation, not thaemechanical style of e g Valentina. But the best version of op. 25 no. 12 I've heard on youtube may be one by Georges Cziffra...
@magnusea Thanks about your comment, altough i don´t share the same opinion. You could not put the name of the giant Mme. Novaes with Valentina, for example. She´s a good pianist, but even her technique being ¨mechanical¨, what it´s not true, Novaes had a perfect technique, more than she use to have (more than Valentina, certainly, and most sophisticated than the great part of pianists, in all times). I don´t have any intention to change another one opinion,:) NOBODY play Chopin so well as GN.
Incontestablement l'une des plus grandes pianistes du XXe siècle. Elle n'est pas dans la série Philips, ce n'est pas grave : il y a des pianistes qui ont été retenus et qui pourtant n'ont jamais été tenus pour être des grands pianistes....
No, please; i didn´t concerned yourself. I said it´s someone, not everyone. And it´s true. I had to disable the ratings for 5 exquisites videos (2 of Antonietta Rudge, 1 from Arnaldo Estrella...). I know it was not you:) By the way, Art in Brazil, nowadays, is a very difficult problem to solve. But, NOBODY played Chopin like Miss Novaes. Thank you about the 5 stars:)
@bernardocarmopiano Don't you think that people are doing this for the reason that these are Brazilian artists. There are several overrated genius around the world. Cherkassky, Fiorentino, Tomsic, Biret, to name some.
@felipesarro Yes, i do think that it´s a prejudice. When you mentioned Cherkassky, etc, It´s not the same situation, surely it´s completely different because of the content of the critics. In this case, 1 STAR to Guiomar Novaes and others is prejudice against brazilian pianists. I don´t think that the best artists are brazilian because i am brazilian, but you could read more about Miss Novaes. F. ex., she wasn´t included on the list of the 100 greatest pianists of the world.
@bernardocarmopiano I'm also Brazilian. that list of 100 greatest pianists is a commercial decision. I'm completely mad that not only Novaes is not there, but also Tomsic and Biret. there are some other pianists that shouldn't be there, but they belong to major labels. Guiomar Novaes is clearly one of the best pianists that ever existed. for Arnaldo Estrella... though a wonderful Brazilian musician, it's quite not the same level.
Don´t worry about lists. I saw a recent list of the top 100 songs ever..90% are american and english songs including many, way too many of Rolling Stones, David Bowei (misspelling, who cares) among others.
There is someone wanting to make injuries on my channel. I will have to cancel the chanel or disable the ratings. This wonderful audio, for example. One idiot gave it 2 stars!!!! It´s a strong prejudice against the BRAZILIAN artists or some bad joke. The same happened to Arnaldo Estrella and Antonietta Rudge.
This is a wonderful lesson for all pianists who aspire to play this piece...Novaes demonstrates how to properly build a long crescendo, holding back to make the fortissimos have more impact, and thereby give the piece shape and a sense of structure. Too many other pianists just play every note of the piece FF, which for me just makes the piece dull. Novaes gives the piece a wonderful majesty and nobility...she was not only one of the greatest pianists, she was a superb musician as well.
"No description is needed."... Indeed! Thanks a lot bernardocarmopiano!

Guiomar is my favorit pianist. Her playing of Butterfly Etude is clear like the sun and with humor. She deserves 5 stars rating!

Great! No quasi-interesting new "tricks", no far-fetched voicing à la Gekic....just pure, expressive Chopin playing.
