These are all great singing videos!! Sometimes we learn better from different words and different teachers. I am one of those teachers! Drop by our new channell Mustache Men , quick n Easy Singing Lessons!
Thanks for the nice vocal lessons videos you posted on youtube. There are quite a few years now since I've done my last singing lessons (baroque and romantic), and your lesson was very nice to refresh concepts and techniques.
I wold like to suggest you to publish something on mixing head (falsetto) and breast voice. This is a very polemic topic and in youtube I could find only a few tutorials for pop and rock singers, while it is also a central technique in baroque singing.
@rlane91 I don't think that singing is actually "natural" thing at all. The reason why some people seem to sound good even without the help of lessons is that they just naturally use their resonators effectively.
Thank you for your videos - I really do appreciate your effort.
However, as a student, I feel that a "show, don't just tell" would have been more useful. For example, I wouldn't have a clue what resonance is from your textual description.
In essence resonance is the placement of the voice so it is audible and clear. In a private studio we would address each of the specific things to you that would better your resonance.
But to put it clearer, think of directing the voice 5 feet ahead of you out onto the soft palate, but not closing the space in the back of the throat, keeping it lifted and buoyant. And maintaining clear vowels as shown in the articulation videos I believe.
If I can create an addendum to this video I will soon. It's a bit crazy busy right now for me to add to these, but I always welcome questions or confusions. I admit it was a massive task to try to cover all these topics in the 10 minute clips you tube allows!
I may have to agree with you on this. When I went to my last vocal coach, he said that I had learned bad habits singing pop music. It take me long to get back to where I needed to be.
Anything worth perfecting does take practice but the point I was making is that there is so much technique out there that one could easily get overwhelmed by doing this or doing that. Singing should be a naturally occurring condition. I do study vocal technique and I do study others when they sing. This video I assume is for the non young as some of us older folk would like to sing and perform, hobby or not.
Very good, but don't forget something called believe-ability, so that when you sing the listener really feels what you are singing about and not just focousing on your tone.
These are really great videos to watch. A little discouraging as there is so much to be aware of that it almost takes away the joy to singing naturally.
nice lecture
