The DoorDarshan(DD) songs of KK are not live.The Reason --Kishoreda did not want to Sing the Songs for Congress after they banned him on AIR/DD.Film Producers used to pester KK ki Please go to DD and ur banned would be lifted.He resisted till Kalyanji-Anandji told him Ki Kishoreda aap Gayegay nahi per fir be Gayegay.Kishore said yeh kya Tikdam kar rahe ho aap dono.This idea was revealed to him on DD studios itself.Dear Anand ji told me this recently.God Bless KK's Honesty

After KK realized the power of SG, he contributed about Rs 1 lakh and this was his comeback to the airwaves - this telecast on Doordarshan (on his B'day I think). His first song "back on air" was on Chitrahaar - "Ye Mausam Aaya Hai" from the movie "Aakraman"

The greatest problem about Kishore Kumar is that u cannot select which one is his best song - a 100 songs of equal merit (if not more) come to the mind when we try to select his best song - all blended with his God-gifted voice.

Regardless what was actually uttered from lip and what seemed from lips, this is not the original songs, I listened yet again, its a re-sung. Bavo Kishore da !!! I've never heard re-sugns this close but really sounded like a studio performance of Kishore da.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble here but regardless of how I think of Kishoreda as a great singer, here he is definitely lip synching to the original track. the proof is right around 3:27 mark. The words that come out are "...jo jiye hii nahiin" but you can clearly see Kishoreda singing "...jo jiye bhii nahiin". This is not a negative comment. Lots of playback singers did and continue to do so in live shows. Please do not loose respect for this singing genius. There was only one Kishoreda!!!

@sak088 Wow! That's a pretty sharp catch - but I think I agree with you. In fact the whole song and the music appears to be the original song. Only at the end, the violin piece that ends the song appears to be live. Most Indian - Bollywood - live music shows tend to have very ordinary audio and recording equipment and tend to sound VERY different and usually worse than the original. But, as you said, not to take away from the genius of Kishore Kumar!

I totally agree. When I saw this video b4 seeing any comments, I was completely stunned, how could a live performance be so close to the original. And then when I saw the lips "bhi" I thought I had been thinking all my life as "hii" in fact was "bhii" then your comment clarified. But again, this is Kishorda. The footage you have posted of this song is a treasure. I live in the US and I am an Indian from birth. Kishore Kumar is my favorite singer. This song is wonderful as it helps the struggle of life. Not that this matters - I turned 40 2 days ago - I have been singing this beautiful song everyday for the past year.

Kalyanji Anandji obviously appreciate Kishore Kumar's talent - but the truth in delivery and the genius of creating such a song is unprecedented.

As far as I can remember this program was telecast the day Kishoreda died or the day after that on Doordarshan (can't remember exactly), was 20 years ago and I was a small kid then, but anyway brought back those memories.

this is as good as coming straight out of the recording studio. but you can tell kishore is singing it live, because he says "...jo jiye BHI naheen", whereas in the actual song it's "....jo jiye Hi naheen".
