  • yes she sings with feelings awsome

  • This song was written by Norman Gimbal and Charles Fox. They are the authors. If not for them, NOBODY would be singing this song because it would not have existed. Credit should always be given where credit is due, don't you think?

  • she has a BEAUTIFUL voice, no matter what she sings<3

  • wonder if Alicia Keys knows the origins and the reason this song was written....the song was in response to watching Don McClean sing AMERICAN PIE back some 38 years ago

  • Michael jackson song this song the best.

  • i would love to hold her boobies in my hand and touch her vagina. hmmmm. yum-yyummy

  • Shes just great

  • i hate dis version... Alicia Keyz shud stick 2 her muziq... she messed up Brenda Fassies song too at da World Cup 2010

  • I want to rest my head on Alicias lap......facing down.

  • rapper like LISETTE LOVE THAT CAN SING remind me of both Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys

  • Alicia Keys has a great voice, doesn't mean she has to show it all the time. Lauryn Hill's smooth voice is perfect for that song, no one can do it better than her.

  • @smallsmok You are right.

  • Lauryn Hill sings this way better... fuck all of you .... if you heard this shit the 90's then you would understand. period

  • alicia delicia

  • love her!

  • Gail !!!! :)

  • I'm a Lauryn Hill fan all the way but when you ask the question who is the artist most deserving and capable of using her work. Its Alicia Keys hands down. You could say Janelle Monae but she's not really not on that level.

  • Creo que es una excelente cantante, pero en esta canción no llega a la nota más alta como lo hace Roberta, me parece...

  • She needs to be reminded it is not an R&B number and to listen, again, to what she says is her influenece...

    Then she may learn.

  • I am not a hater. Never was and never will be.

  • Lovin Alicia Keys and love that she did her version of this great classic. Check out Pinks short version also well. And can't forget The fugees and of course Roberta Flack who gave us this timely classic. Oh yea can't forget Al B Sures version back in the day. Oh yea

  • still copying

  • @electrotech3000

So what she doin it her way don't be a hater matter of fact unless you can do better do a video of you singin it and post it on here and see what type of response you get but PLEASE don't hate it's Alicia Keys and she can do whatever tune she wants and do it well.

  • @PhoenixxH345 well said much love

  • racist LOL

  • i like this version but i love the original better

  • she's so pretty :)

  • @jtpinay05 ... but Roberta is the best :)

  • GROSS! LOVE ROBERTA FLACK AND LAURYN HILLS VERSIONS BETTER. SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS STRAINING TO HARD.

  • omg shes perfect<3

  • ela canta ate bem!mas insuperavel pela originalidade da laurin hill

  • one of the best voice of the planet earth!!!

  • Alicia is amazing, wonderful voice, lirycs and beautiful woman.

    She's the best singer

    I love her

  • How can the wonan be so beatifull e has explendid voice? Cheers to black women!.

    From: brazilian withe man.

  • Uhm no. She can stop. This song is for Lauryn Hill and Lauryn Hill only + the Gee's. : ) Alicia, go home.

  • @xxMyHeartBreaker alicia keys is the closet we are going to get to real rnb anymore

  • @xxMyHeartBreaker Umm no, you're an idiot, Lauryn Hill isn't even the original singer. The Gee's??? Do you mean fugees? Go home, how old are you?

  • @ashley123nm Bitch get off my dick. -___-

  • @xxMyHeartBreaker The kind of eloquence you'd expect from a moron. It's Roberta Flack's song, and Lauryn Hill fell off the face of the Earth years ago so calm down. No one cur...

  • @kukukachooification anybody talking to you?

  • @xxMyHeartBreaker Don't be mad that everyone thinks you're a dumbass.

  • @kukukachooification I ain't even mad. Who's everybody? Don't say shit that you can't back up. STUPIDHOE.

  • @xxMyHeartBreaker Are you some kind of hilarious black stereotype? "Stupid Hoe"? Are you serious? GTFO

  • @kukukachooification TROLOLOLOLOLOL. Yes I'm serious. GTFO? You started it with me. So take your happy ass back to where you came from and don't jump into people's conversations.

  • @kukukachooification now GET OFF MY DICK.

  • @kukukachooification Thank you!!! I'm tired of of people arguing and all they can do is cuss and act a fool. @xxMyHeartBreaker Alicia Keys isn't trying to be better than anyone else, maybe she just likes the song, maybe it inspires her or has some short of sentimental meaning. Get your facts straight before you start hating.

  • @ashley123nm It's been covered by everyone and their mother... To think it's Lauryn Hill's song is shamelessly stupid. It takes 5 secs to look something up on the internet and educate your stupid ass, but some just don't learn....

  • Why is it that all who try to do this never come close to Roberta Flack's of it

  • only other one to do this justice is Susan Boyle

  • awsome

  • Damn, she did a good job!

  • o dios omg too good

  • my most favorite of these... i love to sing it..

  • kill me softly

  • She does have a good voice, but she is totally off key here.

  • Lovely voice

  • May I know the keys of this song? :p

can anyone tell me, where can i find?

  • It's interesting how people are so quick to judge to say who is better. At the end of it you hear her say "So songs like that really made an impact on my life..." But eh, folks got different taste. I like the way she sung it, I like how Lauryn sung it, and I like how Roberta sung it. I think if you take yourself out of the "who is trying to upstage who" mindset and look at it a dedication to what inspires them, you'll end up liking any version no matter how it is sung. But that's just how I feel

  • Alicia tries to be better than Roberta Flack, but fails. Roberta is much better !!

  • Esta menina canta e toca muito! Parabéns!!!

  • What a hit, there are hundreds of famous artists who cover this song :O

  • she is hot, beautiful etc etc but Pink sounds way more soulful than her and does it effortlessly. Just being honest.

  • she is hella beautiful

  • This girl is hotter than July... in Miami

  • ugh.. god this is so not her song.

  • jkdgfadfg

  • @koala8 I'm an Alicia Keys fan and I agree with your statement to a certain extent she is talented but her beauty takes her to another level. Remember when she 1st came out and practically went head to head vs India Arie's "Acoustic Soul" at the grammys? She swept her 4 to 0 no way that should of happened but she gets extra love because she has that cross over beauty that everyone can appreciate.

  • @iyllee93 Just curious did you ever hear Roberta Flack's version?

  • so cool i like the version keep it up ....Im a cute fan of yours

  • 1:03 (all i gota say)

  • She´s so beautiful but she is singing off-key!

    It´s a disaster!

  • She really has a own style here :X

  • the sexiest voice of all times!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great version, too bad it's so short. Does anyone know if she ever recorded it? The only thing is... does she really say 'wassup y'all?' or I misheard it? And if she does say so... why?? LOL

  • @JanisNisii she did say theat :D

  • she's the most successful RnB singer, stop hating, i love her :P

  • @1234meteor i love a keys, she's my favorite but isn't beyonce more successful?

  • @scauma lol, beyonce is more pop for me

  • @scauma Beyonce has sold more records but Alicia is more talented. Record sales don't mean much, promotion companies sell records these days not artists...

  • @1234meteor os you love her dont mean everyone else should.

how is she the most successful.. in what capacity?

her stuff is just as much gospel/soul as it is r&b..

if you wanna be like that, then MJ puts her on her Ass!

  • @apmirkin lol please refrain yourself from being a little bitch on youtube :P, sorry for my language

  • @1234meteor KUCH kUCH, MARIAH CAREY ALL TIME BABY!

  • my apologies for not knowing Lori was the original singer. i'd grown up assuming it was Roberta, and as i am older than the internet, it was not something i could google back in the day, and not something i would google now, since i believed Roberta was the original singer. if i googled everything i know, to make sure it was correct, i'd not have a life. again, my apologies. the rest of my original post is correct ;)

  • @tqfan1 " if i googled everything i know, to make sure it was correct, i'd not have a life." <<<< or you can keep going around posting incorrect statements which makes u look like an ass =)

  • bump this bump that make moves get smacked

    check out my page

  • Roberta Flack did it way better

  • This is not a good rendition. Roberta Flack's original is the standard. Panadda Ruangwut (Thai singer) does a surprisingly beautiful version too.

  • Aaaand now Alicia decided to take it on..... and absolutely KILLED IT!

  • I sang this song at the Apollo Theater in NYC and won First place! check it out on my Facebook Fanpage "Krista Musik" or on Youtube: "Amateur Night at the Apollo, First Place Winner Krista Jane (7-27-11)"

  • shaniqwa

  • Al b Sure sang it also

  • love it .... is nt like Lori Liberman bt still love how Keys sings it her way !

  • This doesn't even come close to the quality of Roberta Flack.

  • Alicia is great, but she struggles with the notes in her higher register. She is definitely a contralto. I love her music don't get me wrong and roberta flack will always do this song best. : )

  • I love keys , the dong was beautiful ! Never heard Roberta flack version just Lauren hills ... Hills is better Keyes.

  • well I thought that the original song is by Roberta Flack, but the truth is that the original is by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, SO STOP ARGUING! each of the versions is good for itself

  • The best version is Roberta Flacks Original,i dont like this version at all!!

  • If anything, all the comments prove a point - Doesn't matter who sang it first, it is a GREAT song & the fact so many artists have covered it alone is testamony to that.

  • juz fall in love wif d song

  • @tqfan1 Roberta wasn't the original singer either. it was done by Lori Liberman in 1972 which is the best version in my opinion. The Fugees - Lauren Hill just made it relevant to our generation.

  • love it

  • Love this song

  • Roberta Flack (1973) is not the original. Original is Lori Lieberman (1971). It comes down to personal taste. I take Liberman #1, Flack a close #2, and everyone else a distant, distant third. But it's kind of pointless to say it's a "fact" that one is better than another. The only fact is which was first to record (Lieberman). It's on youtube.

  • que buena interpretación ... de un super clasico...que fueerza que tiene ..

  • i love the version of COMEBACK MADONNA for this song

  • she is amazing

  • I like Al B. Sure's cover of this Roberta Flack song. : )

  • This song BELONGS to Roberta!!! All of the others are hoping to obtain that feeling...FAIL

  • hot

  • About a Boy....

    I'm a bloody Ibiza

  • Roberta Flack's version still reigns but I love Ms. Keys and Hill very much for all they are too. I first heard it in the 70's, and that version touched me deeply.

  • Im sorry..i LOVE the original..but..DAMN,alicia!!!!wow!

  • Im sorry, but as much as I love Alicia's work, and think she is all that, I must say Im shocked at her interpretation of this song....I thought her singing was anything but delicate and tender fitting this song...I felt like she beat the song up, and I didnt feel any emotion that the words were meant to say...It felt stressed and over stated...Thats the trouble....some songs are the original artists Masterpiece, and they shouldnt be done, or cant be done by others unless they just copy it......

  • when i started to hear it i knew people would say something about Roberta Flack and of course you cant compare and it would be like Roberta Flack singing one of Alicia Keys songs

  • que hermosaaaaaaaa mujer es ella !!!!!! muy increible tema ademas de su belleza grande alicia

  • womp....nooo..i dont like her on this

  • 1:00 butt sex

  • Nice!

  • this is not jazz !

  • ROCKING GOOD VOICE!!!!

  • it was just okay for me... alot of the song was off-key

  • which killing me softly is the one i hear on the radio?

  • FYI original version wrote and sang by Lorie Lieberman

  • What about AL B. Sure lol

  • linda!

  • Video killed the radio star...again...music is for the ears, not the eyes, sigh..

  • alecia always sound slightly flat to me...and whiny...she is an incredible singer but sometimes thats hard for me to get over

  • Its a great tribute. Alicia is truly talented but has a singing style that is very common, over singing. Roberta Flack does know the subtle nuance of song, she can hold a clear note without over singing the vibrato.

  • great tribute

  • Amo essa musica e sendo interpretada pela Alicia Keys esta digna dos meus aplausos...ótima mesmo

  • I don;t like it.

  • I like the black touch when they do the baby seal trapped under a rock voice

  • O que importa que ela é boa ,e pronto.Veja só a suavidade .

  • i bet @1:16 it makes you want to yawn:)

  • Why would she want to howl? :(

    Disgusting performance!

  • melanie fiona.... check out her version... in case u don't know ur hip hop she was featured on beautiful bliss...in wale's attention defficit.... j.cole was in the song also..

  • she did good

  • No one can compare to Roberta. Do your homework peeps.

  • y'all acting like lauren hill was the original singer. she wasn't, roberta flack was, and also lauren hill never sung this as lauren hill, she sang this as part of the fugees, therefore a fugees song, not lauren hill. damn you haterz, alicia keys is amazing.

  • @tqfan1 people are uneducated twats

  • @tqfan1

Well actually, Roberta Flack was not the original singer either. Far from it. She was just the first to make it a huge hit.

The original was by folk singer Lori Lieberman who co-wrote the song with Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox after having seen Don McLean in concert, and wrote a poem based on her experiences.

Other pre-Flack versions: Perry Como, and Bobby Goldsboro, both who 'sex-changed' it to "..Her Song. The Ray Conniff Singers did a version too as part of a medley.

  • @tqfan1 im not hating i love both of those ladies. love all the versions

  • @tqfan1 Okay, before you go dissin' people on Youtube, get your facts straight. Roberta Flack was NOT the original singer, though the most popular and my favorite, but still, not the original. Lori Lieberman, the ORIGINAL singer released this song two years before Roberta Flack's cover. So if you wanna try show everyone else up, atleast know what you're talking about.

  • @tqfan1 Actually, Lori Lieberman was the original singer of this song but it really blew up when Ms. Flack Slayed it. Either way, all time classic no matter who sings it... Lori, Roberta, Luther, Lauryn Alicia

  • @tqfan1 dude roberta flack performed this song in 1973 and Lori Lieberman wrote and performed it in 1971...fact check before you post.

  • @thegenericusername Close. Lieberman didn't write it. However, the songwriters who did, Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, based the lyrics on an experience she had seeing Don McLean in concert.

  • @thegenericusername Dude NORMAN GIMBEL wrote this song. "fact check before you post" and before you judge others. dickhead.

  • @thegenericusername, try Colbie Caillat version, Alicia is great no matter what !

  • @thegenericusername Lori didn't write it. It was written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel...Fast check before you post.

  • @tqfan1 excally my great aunt wrote this song nd she also taught ms.keys how to play the piano !!! :D

  • @cbabi14 Your great aunt wrote that song??? Thats epic....

  • @tqfan1 Only one thing : Lauren did cover it independently.

I'm looking at it in my suggestions bar right now.

It's basically exactly the same as the version with The Fugees, but without the annoying drumbeat in the background.

  • @tqfan1 i thought the original singer was some white girl

  • @tqfan1 -fail-

  • she killed it

  • She did it OOOOK...But she didnt KILL it like Lauren.. NOBODY EEFIN WITH LAUREN..

  • Gostei ! Porém depois de Lauren Hill somente P!nk substitui !! Parabéns Alicia !!

  • @mmoran3 you are right with this song no one can beat Lauryn Hill she is just amazing

  • alicia keys is definetly the best singer out there she has so many talents and she is the most beautifull person in heart

  • She shouldn't have sung this song in this key, she should have lowered it. It sometimes amazes me how she can strain so much and her voice is still intact.

  • beautiful!!

  • haha i like the random "wazzup, yall?"

  • beautiful
