  • so GOD believes in the big bang? oh the irony

  • fuck the universe, that bowlcut is amazing

  • I just watched this to listen to Morgan Freeman...

  • @CoalMyn And yet so many earthly problems have been solved while doing research on astronomy and other sciences. Hey, they didn't invent the internet for commercial use in CERN, they invented it to use it to transfer scientific data from one scientist to another. CERN did not want to patent the internet since it was for science. Now how many billions has that little invention brought back? NASA also lists space spin-offs in their annual spinoff magazine, you should check.

    Cheers.

  • @Zibblay ARPANET (62-63) predated the CERN network (84-88) by a couple of decades. Still, scientific research (including astronomy, cosmology, physics, chemistry and biology) is the foundation of the technical world. Everything from the internet to the glue that holds our shoes together is the result of someone going "huh, that's weird."

  • The dislikes are creationists.

  • @Sonofsweetness But Morgan Freeman is God!

  • @CoalMyn Either educate yourself or stop talking about stuff you don't fully understand,

  • What IS? Is the fundamental question.

  • To have seen this on a full IMAX screen must've been stunning.

  • 168,761 views in 2 years and 8 months.

Meanwhile Justin Bieber puts up a video and it's guaranteed to pass that in the first hour, and go on to over 100 million views.

    We're fucked.

  • @DarqeDestroyer

Progress has always been the job of few. If it mattered only what the common majority understood, we would still be living in caves. So don't worry too much about it. Just the fact that these ideas exist shows that the progress is already taking place.

  • This is old news......this is a remake of the 1970s short movie of "The Powers of Ten", only they used a square meter, not a around one. They went through 40 powers of ten. I saw it in San Diego at the Rueben H Fleet Science Center in the late 1970s. Yes, I'm old.........very, very old. You need the Powers of Ten to measure my age.

  • did you know that the distance from a quark to the size of a hula hoop would be equivalent to the distance from a hula hoop to our observable universe!

  • 8 dislikes? wtf?

  • God is narrating this

  • Tears in my eyes ;')

    Beautiful than anything else.

Wondering if we will be born again, just in another planet with life on.

Just like Avatar. Could be extrodinary..

  • You can not comprehend infinity

  • @hoyglitz lol.. he made the whole universe inn a day? .. and used 5 days to make the planet? Bitch, please.

  • @MrVayden hahaha, no shit

  • @hoyglitz riiiggghhhhtt.

  • Moar

  • @hoyglitz Nope.

  • i watched on 360p

  • this happened when chuck norris divived by 0..

  • there is no possible way aliens arn't there

  • @stealthmarine Given the vast amount of space out there, it is inevitable that intelligent extraterrestrials exist. But the fact that we have found no evidence of radio signals coming from other stars suggests that technological civilizations tend to self-destruct and are short lived. This doesn't bode well for our future...

  • @SnugglePuma well i agree with you on most of this, butttt, i just thought i'd throw this out there, if there are e.t.'s, who's to say that they use the same radio signals as us? communicate the same? any of that? what if they can communicate through their minds? and maybe they're that advanced they know how to mask it? don't jump the gun on that type of thinking, and i feel like i've personally seen a ufo, sounds crazy, but i think i may have, got a pic to prove it

  • Oh science, how wonderful you are.

  • Wonderful!

  • Zoom out more and you will see Chuck Norris.

  • Too beautiful to be made by God.

  • now, quarks are actually composed of tiny microscopic universes and this universes are made by tiny galaxies that have tiny stars revolving in its nucleus gravity zone, and this planets have tiny microscopic beings caught up in between the infinite micro and macro of reality with the power to create or to destroy, what differentiates this creatures from the single cell organisms we found on the rain drop, they don't know their purpose, and the answers to its surrounding are infinity inaccessible

  • Oh God, and I put that raindrop on my mouth!!??

  • just for reference, dutchmen dont all run around windmills.

  • @hihaatje lol, yeah that's true. Some are camping in Amsterdam while smoking some weed ;)

  • I don't understand why didn't they use Oprah Winfrey as a narrator?

  • Holy S*** We can see 15billion lightyeaars out?

  • @ lmao

  • Good film, although it does not seem to have the punch of 1977's Powers of Ten.

  • So its like our molecules are single galaxies within our body making up a human being which is a universe. 7 billion universes in comparison with 400 billion stars and 125+ billion galaxies containing hundreds of billion stars... Call me crazy but what if the universe is a person among other people with other universes among ours. Who knows. I can't imagine that this was all made by random chance although I still have my own doubts.

  • b'vo delft

  • so i guess we are not alone in this universe

  • i think it would be more effective doing it in reverse, all the way from the solar system in full view, to an atom on earth

  • And people say it was all by accident...

  • @mharrison0909 4 fundamental forces got it all taken care of.

  • If Imax can send a spaceship out to film all of this, then why can't we just fly to other planets?

  • @TastyTacoBoy Because at the speed our modern space ships travel, just to get to our closest neighboring solar systems would take 100,000 years

  • The 1000 meter ring was more like 4 times bigger than the 100 meter ring....

  • graphical error 0:01

  • Zoom out any more, and you'd be leaving the proton again!

  • And to think that centuries ago we were arrogant enough to believe that the Universe was created just for us and that we were at the center of it all......

  • Comment removed

  • clearly this was all made for us.

  • @georgek19 Hilarious. Religion is a pathetically small and conceited fable.

  • @passingperception If your going to present you opinions, you can atleast do it in a respectful, mannored way. Youtube or not.

  • @passingperception thats something a kafer would say

  • @passingperception And you're a dick.

  • Mind blown, Who could ever dare to say we are alone in the universe after seeing this, the chance of that is in astronomical numbers, It's only about how two different species from other planets could visit each other. that'd require technology that's almost impossible to be achieved.

  • How the hell can the universe be so big? I feel tiny.

  • My guess on this is that these quarks exist and don't exist virtually simultaneously. Any attempt to get "closer" to one would prove impossible because before you could actually reach It, it would cease to exist then exist again but somewhere else so you would never be able to reach it. reality is so alien to me now thanks for quantum / particle physics :(

  • Comment removed

  • reality is such a strange fucking thing

  • One of most mind reeling things to think of in my opinion is a true infinity zoom. If you look at your finger right now begin zoom in until reaching the quarks but then a quark being a "something" means we can get closer to it... so when does a something become a nothing? Logic says you'll just move past it but like all illusions it appears to have an infinity possibility.

  • @lmos26 Beyond quarks is string theory

  • @darksta01 Physicist 1: I just had a great idea! What if the universe was actually made of small discrete circular particles of energy called strings!

Physicist 2: Ok, what would that imply

    Physicist 1: I don't know.

lol, i stole that from Lawrence Krauss

  • @darksta01 yeah M theory is very fascinating :)

  • I thought that it would zoom out to reveal a starry / galaxy silhouette of Morgan Freeman's face...and he would say "I...am God."

  • awesome! :D

  • What if those quorks contained little universes like our own? :P

Then we will be in a living loop with no begging or end

  • @puredruid you mean quarks

  • Interesting video

  • Morgan Freeman narrates/hosts the 'Through the Wormhole' tv series.

  • Bin laden is just but a tiny particale in the universe.

  • my perspective on life changed, im begining to ask more questions about life in general, and i still and probly always wonder what is our reason to be here

  • I felt like Humans are pure potential, acting like we matter is up to the individual. Carbon, fatty oils and a bit of electricity turned into bi-pedal organic self reproducing organisms....I am amazed we are here to look at the the visible parts of the Universe.

Hawking says there may be as many as 18 different reality lines and I hope he is right, I get panicky on a planet going like 15,000KPH with no easy exit, a very limited viewable spectrum to our sight and not much motivation ...eh. = )

  • It's amazing how insignificant we truly are. People should be more appreciative of the lives they lead.

  • This film literally changed my life.

  • @Heavensrun Yes, amazing how narrow minded and ignorant most people are, failing to see how beautiful, how amazing, how pure TRUE nature is, reality, science. :)

  • @Heavensrun It's true. They are to make this in 3D !!

  • There may be as many Universes as there are stars.

  • @TheSynthZone We may be made of stars.

  • @blackfire18

the hole universe may be a single particle

  • I didn't care about any of this stuff until Morgan Freeman Narrated it.

  • can anyone tell me why the universe exists

  • @hitmanskilz For the doughnuts and cosmic consciousness....

  • @hitmanskilz So that we can listen to Morgan freeman talking about it.

  • What's the song in the background?

  • The range of the universe as far as we can see could still just be as small as the tiniest range that we could see in comparison to the entire universe.

  • @mountainbikingchick High def.

  • what does 180p mean?

  • @mountainbikingchick If you meant "1080P"? - That mean image resolutions 1080P = Full HD

  • omg. actually.

  • what's the title of this series ?

  • I remember seeing this on an IMAX screen when I was three years old. I still can't properly articulate the feelings this video conjures inside me.

  • Hey! I live in Delft, lol

  • What if our universe with all the stars an galaxy's is just inside an atom in someone elses world?

i don't think there are any bounderies. Space has to be 'in' something... i just don't know what and i'll never know

  • 2 people don't live in our Universe.

  • Woah! Jumped @ 3:02 , was getting relaxed listening to it then WHOOSH

  • i just watched this on my full HD 50 inch plasma TV connected to my Mac with Nvidia, and i think my eyes almost popped out when the galaxies stars fly by, my brain exploded for 1/100 of a second, i think.

  • 1080 its a slide show for me.

  • My name is Morgan Freeman and I approve this message...

  • Loved it, awesome video. From quarks to known universe.

  • First I read Cosmic Voyage. "Awesome". Then I read 1080p. "Oh my gads". And then... Morgan Freeman. BRAIN CANNOT CONTEND WITH LEVEL OF AWESOME.

  • @Acefychan I feel ya man!

  • @zenithalravage U guys some some more

  • @Acefychan I feel the same way, feeling is just too good.

  • @Acefychan I thought the exact same thing, only my brain exploded when I saw that the town you see at 5:00 is the small town of Delft I live in.

  • fantastical

  • wooohhh fantastic

  • just asked a traffic warden...duhhh!

  • fantastic....that journey left me breathless

  • Not 15 Gly. 46 Gly. Don't forget the expansion of the universe.

  • almost cried. must watch stoned.

  • @lluvianihilista

yeah i watch it stoned too and i understand it much more

its cruel and pervert how we humans destroy our planet and the animals and plants here

its not wrong to smoke some weed its rather wrong how we kill all cannabis-plants in our world just cause you can think and understand somethings better stoned than sober

sometimes i wish i was born in the future who humans are not uncivilized and conservative like today

  • @Ulansananelan You should deepen yourself into DMT, that is some crazy shit right there

  • Ever since i was a small boy people have enjoyed the sound of my voice.....

  • Video is very interesting although there are billions of stars in our galaxy which they didn't show in the video. They say our galaxy has 100 billion stars, but Wikipedia says our galaxy has up to 400 billion stars and we almost see none of them in this video while they zoom out the view from our Sun out to the end of the galaxy. Our neighbour galaxy called Andromeda has 1 trillion stars! So far scientists have discovered about 170 billion galaxies and billions are yet to be discovered.

  • @subliminer keep up the good work wikipedia drone =p

  • mind-blowing. tx for posting.

  • And man still stands at night and say. This was all made so that I could exist. Pathetic

  • @Tyrkul The universe is so much more impressive when you understand that it was made for no reason, and by nobody.

  • all these IMAX films are great, i got about 10 of them from my local newspaper for only $2 ea. and this was my favourite

  • Incrível...

  • The universe is so big :O

  • yay the universe

  • Can i find this in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles???

  • drifting through the galaxy...

  • @froatufo I have a question. How did you manage to even find this video?

  • @derbigpr500 Duhh!... Rotten Tomatoes helpful directions from Dave the traffic warden and got the A to Z out didn't I!.. Common sense prevails well it did in my multiverse I don't know about yours...MeowwSsss!

  • nice but not true ~(apparently)... arn;t we ,planet Earth currently passing through the Milky Way...?

  • @froatufo No, lol. We are rotating around the sun, along with every other planet.

  • @Eatmybologna are you sure about the simplicity of this theory..? Coz the top astro sicientists and world leading experts are not so sure anymore.. Watch HORIZONS BBC channel ?Could everything we thought we knew about the universe be wrong?

Lovely film though I could watch over and over. Open minds ...

  • @froatufo I'll check it out.

  • @froatufo passing through? what do you mean?

  • i love it!

after watching this video not having a girlfriend isn't such a sad existence.

  • They stopped at quarks... But we now know there are countless particles that are even smaller. Quarks, Preons (hypothetical), Tau, Muons, and Neutrinos. And who knows... maybe even strings.

  • 4:50 chuck norris's feeling are located there he put them there cause they had no purpose and he wanted nobody to have them

  • That's what I've been saying|

  • What exactly is humanity's purpose in all of this again?

  • The one person that gave this video a thumbs down, also believes that we are alone in the universe.

  • 1 retard came all over the space just to vote he doesn't like this superb video.

  • behind the outer limits of the universe, is the Matrix.

  • This video brings back old memories of me being at the IMAX theatre as a kid... I suggest you guys check out "journey to the edge of the universe" by National Geographic if you like this kind of stuff :)

  • amazing!!

  • O_O mind blowing

  • thats made me alwayes think and think how behinde this absolutlay not chance and If there is a beginning and continue to be that there will be the end

  • "Space, is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space, listen..." -H2G2 :D

  • There is no end to it. ;) Doesn't matter which direction or which size you choose to be.

  • believing in god is now officially pointless

  • @pissvirus HA ah ! Very funny))

  • @pissvirus

I thought Morgan Freeman was God :P

  • @LastEmperor28 And now you're certain of it :D

  • @LastEmperor28 He is. How else do you think he narrates the entire universe?!

  • @LastEmperor28 he is

  • @pissvirus depends on what you mean by god:)

  • @pissvirus but Morgan Freeman is god.

  • People are just now realizing this
