You guys kinda need to chill out. I'm a 90's kid too and I love the 90's cartoons. We're all proud to have grown up in an era of "great cartoons". But there is a new generation of kids watching nickelodeon now, and they actually enjoy the shows that are on. They enjoy iCarly like we enjoyed Angry Beavers, and when they grow up, they'll complain just as much as us that nickelodeon changed too much. The cartoons didn't get worse, they got different. Kids like them and that's all that matters.

Nickelodeon is providing programs that overwhelming majority of today's kids want to watch. 90's Kids (who are now young adults) are no longer being sought after by Nickelodeon & Disney Channel, however, cries for the 2 networks to punt their current lineups and bring back shows from the 90's continues with seemly no consideration about the differences in the types of programs 90s Kids enjoyed and what today's kids enjoy.

But what was the alternative? If the capsule had been left behind, it would have been considered abandoned property, dug up & thrown away during renovations to the complex. The time capsule needs to stay in the possession of Nickelodeon and that means moving it when the network no longer has a presence or controls a piece of property and the network had no way of predicting the major changes to come that would result in the unavoidable closure of Nickelodeon Studios.

When Nickelodeon buried the time capsule back in 1992, it had no way to predict that the Studios would be closed in 2005. As I said previously, if Nickelodeon had left the time capsule behind, it would have been considered to be ABANDONED PROPERTY and Universal could have thrown it away.
The Studios closed because (among other reasons) people grew tired of game shows, actors refused to work at the studios and kids stopped taking the tour and going to the store.

I suspect that the time capsule will be opened as planned.
Who opens is still too early to tell. If Nickelodeon still exists as a network, it will open the capsule. If the network/company is bought out by some other entity and renamed, then that organization will open it. But the opening is still 31 years away and a lot can happen between now & then.
If the time capsule needed to be moved again, I, myself, like the Mall of America as a new home. A huge climate-controlled mall with lots of visitors can't be all that bad. :o)
I'm not sure if the animation studio is set up to handle any sort of substantial live studio audience because the primary product of the facility is....well....animation.

Ah! I just Googled the name and found references to JTHM.
So the answer to the 2nd question would be "no". My posts about Nickelodeon Studios come from information found on Wikipedia and the ton of information provided by Josh Yawn (he created that awesome tribute to Nickelodeon Studios under the screen name "cmonfwank" and also produced an unbelievable history of the Studios including many photos of parts of the buildings that are not open to the general public).

A few comments left by a handful of people does NOT indicate any major/substantial demand. You would need to interview and garner millions uopn millions of interviews from people all across the US, Canada and any place Nickelodeon is available.

Yes, people who worked @ Nickelodeon Studios were let go because there was nothing for them to do. People stopped visiting the Studios for the tour & visit the gift shop. Actors refused to relocate from Los Angeles to Orlando to work @ the Studios. Those 2 facts alone have been spelled out in Josh Yawn's excellent pictoral tribute to Nickelodeon Studios on his website cmonfwank,com.

The only shows my brother and I cared for on this network was the game shows. Sure, we watched some Nicktoons now and then, but we didn't really like them (the only toon shows dumber than those are the ones on Cartoon Network, which also became as "undead"). However, I've been working for almost 2 years on bringing back "Legends of the Hidden Temple" (my favorite) for Nintendo WiiWare with 240 episodes. To everyone commenting, yes, times have changed and so have the shows that were on Nickelodeon. obviously we can't expect the shows to stay the same for 15+ years. what Nickelodeon should do is at least occasionally air reruns of shows such as The Secret World of Alex Mack, Kenan and Kel and Rocko's Modern Life. this would at least give old Nick lovers a chance to remember them, and give viewers of Nick today a glimpse of what it was like back in the 90s.
I can only imagine what Nick will look like in 2014. They will probably introduce an iCarly spin off, The Adventures of Gibby, and it will sure as hell suck. Just like The Cleveland Show from Family Guy did.
My conclusions still stand and I am certainly not a jerk.
Nickelodeon ran a Ren & Stimpy marathon not too long ago. When did they air the episodes? During the Nick @ Nite block which is when most of Nickelodeon's target audience isn't in front of the TV. PPG & Dexter may have a place in the hearts of 90's Kids, but they really don't resonate all that much with today's kids. If they did, the shows would be back on the main channel during prime time hours.
No amount of bizzare statements like that is going to change anything 1 iota. There isn't enough demand for 90's programming for Nickelodeon to delegate any amount of prime time airspace to those programs....Plain and simple... 90's Kids have aged out of Nickelodeon's target audience and are not being actively sought after by the network.
As long as people continue to bash Nickelodeon and Blue Man Group for closing Nickelodeon Studios, and demand that Nickelodeon its back on the network's target audience and punt the existing program schedule to bring back 90's programs to appease a small group of people that have aged out of Nickelodeon's demographic, I will continue to, respectfully, post my comments which are backed up by facts provided by people who worked with Nickelodeon.

When Nickelodeon buried the time capsule back in 1992, it had no way to predict that the Studios would be closed in 2005. As I said previously, if Nickelodeon had left the time capsule behind, it would have been considered to be ABANDONED PROPERTY and Universal could have thrown it away.
The Studios closed because (among other reasons) people grew tired of game shows, actors refused to work at the studios and kids stopped taking the tour and going to the store.

I suspect that the time capsule will be opened as planned.
Who opens is still too early to tell. If Nickelodeon still exists as a network, it will open the capsule. If the network/company is bought out by some other entity and renamed, then that organization will open it. But the opening is still 31 years away and a lot can happen between now & then.

If Nickelodeon closes or sells the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, the time capsule will be moved again. Possible new homes would include:
1) The Mall of America (Nickelodeon has a presence there) in Bloomington MN.
2) The Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank CA.
3) Nickelodeon on Sunset in Hollywood CA.
4) Some other property that does not yet exist.
There are still 31 years (as of this post) to go before the capsule is scheduled to be opened so "Stay Tuned!" :oD

Ah! I just Googled the name and found references to JTHM.
So the answer to the 2nd question would be "no". My posts about Nickelodeon Studios come from information found on Wikipedia and the ton of information provided by Josh Yawn (he created that awesome tribute to Nickelodeon Studios under the screen name "cmonfwank" and also produced an unbelievable history of the Studios including many photos of parts of the buildings that are not open to the general public).

Yes, people who worked @ Nickelodeon Studios were let go because there was nothing for them to do. People stopped visiting the Studios for the tour & visit the gift shop. Actors refused to relocate from Los Angeles to Orlando to work @ the Studios. Those 2 facts alone have been spelled out in Josh Yawn's excellent pictoral tribute to Nickelodeon Studios on his website cmonfwank,com.
Note that those 90's shows are airing during graveyard hours. Why do YOU suppose that is?

The only shows my brother and I cared for on this network was the game shows. Sure, we watched some Nicktoons now and then, but we didn't really like them (the only toon shows dumber than those are the ones on Cartoon Network, which also became as "undead"). However, I've been working for almost 2 years on bringing back "Legends of the Hidden Temple" (my favorite) for Nintendo WiiWare with 240 episodes. I miss old nick! I don't understand how you can go from classic shows like "Rugrats" to shitty ones like "ICarly" and "Supah Ninjas". It's a shame. To everyone commenting, yes, times have changed and so have the shows that were on Nickelodeon. obviously we can't expect the shows to stay the same for 15+ years. what Nickelodeon should do is at least occasionally air reruns of shows such as The Secret World of Alex Mack, Kenan and Kel and Rocko's Modern Life. this would at least give old Nick lovers a chance to remember them, and give viewers of Nick today a glimpse of what it was like back in the 90s.

My conclusions still stand and I am certainly not a jerk.
Nickelodeon ran a Ren & Stimpy marathon not too long ago. When did they air the episodes? During the Nick @ Nite block which is when most of Nickelodeon's target audience isn't in front of the TV. PPG & Dexter may have a place in the hearts of 90's Kids, but they really don't resonate all that much with today's kids. If they did, the shows would be back on the main channel during prime time hours.

As long as people continue to bash Nickelodeon and Blue Man Group for closing Nickelodeon Studios, and demand that Nickelodeon its back on the network's target audience and punt the existing program schedule to bring back 90's programs to appease a small group of people that have aged out of Nickelodeon's demographic, I will continue to, respectfully, post my comments which are backed up by facts provided by people who worked with Nickelodeon.
