Steve Perry is a legend period. He does not need anyone dignifying this by down playing decisions the band he is no longer in made.

Ronnie James Dio ( Padavona) did not replace Ozzy and Brian Johnson did not replace Bon Scott their perspective bands needed lead singers.

Neil Schon's didn't call otherwise you would be telling friends experiences of 2.5 torus.

@yummiesteve I will agree this is not a comeback, the only time Journey has been 'gone' is when your boy steve ditched them to go his own way. I applaud them for not letting him do it again. They are still Journey, still the same guys playing the songs, still putting out great music. If you want to be a perry fan and not a Journey fan, that's great, go see him in concert. Oh wait, he's not touring anymore... If you don't like the current Journey, DON'T LISTEN!!!

STEVE DID NOT DUMP JOURNEY, and for your SMART ASS information...I'm the type of person that gives benefit of the doubt.I tried listen to Arnel, he is good....But he is not Steve Perry and will never be.In a sense I feel sorry for Arnel he's trying to fill shoes that can't be filled

@yummiesteve my facts are straight, it's well documented that Journeys 10 YEAR HIATUS is because perry quit on them, or as i put it, ditched them. he told them he was done, yet he was able to go on with his solo career? I know he had hip problems, but how long were they supposed to wait, esp since he had already quit on them before? I don't dispute what they did with him, I just get tired of people saying they're not journey w/o him. They're still putting out great music

Like I said Anel has a good voice but he has to stop trying to be Steve, Arnel has to get his own twist, groove whatever you want to call it. But Steve does have the voice, those high notes that he hits with such ease and is so smooth..I hope this helps you with - not to get so upset. I really tried listening with Arnel, good but not Steve..... :)

@yummiesteve Sounds like we grew up around the same time, my collection started w/ Escape, 1st cassette in my 1st car. Has always been one of my favorite albums from anyone. In my opinion, Arrival is 1B. I know it's not arnel, but it's one of Journey's best. Unfortunately, it never had a chance, to many Journey fans being loyal to perry. @wcrew97 Hey Gruff, I have Escape also, I had most of the vinyl's, my lp's ended up in mother in law house and she got rid of most of my lp's was so mad.I lost all my Journey's.Now trying to get all cd's.So you figured out that I'm a SP Fan, ur right LOL. Yep not alot of ppl give benefit of doubt.Cassettes, yep that's our era haha. I have to say that Steve & Neal are FANTASTIC together. As for non-perry songs, nope that ain't going to happen,sorry.Hope you have a great time at the concert

@wcrew97 Well said. I think ppl need to learn to appreciate what they offer. They worked hard & have given all for ppl to enjoy. I wonder why ppl keep on going back to steve. Yeah, true he sings really really good, but how would u feel towards a person who ditched you, just like what perry did to his band mates? Some people just sit & watch, then say nasty things! Not even thinking of how much effort is put into before a show & long thoughts the band had to prepare a show for us to enjoy.

It amazes me Rolling Stone never liked these guys, but again I guess I shouldn't be surprised. They have been stuck back in the 60's for a very long time and any music or band which doesn't fit into their neat little opinion doesn't get the recognition they richly deserve. I mean, how could anyone deny Schon's ability to play guitar is almost second to none. I mean the guy was playing with Carlos Santana as a teenager.

I really liked Steve Augeri. Yes similarities to Perry were there, but Augeri had his own unique sound and mannerisms, not to mention a better voice. Pineda seems like trying to impersonate Perry. He lacks authenticity. In any event, he's doing a good job and the fans seem to like it so it's all good. However it's really sad that Augeri had health problems and couldn't continue.

His voice is so soulful and I really love his energy which I feel is his own and not a replica or attempt at emulating Perry. The crowd seems to really appreciate his energy as exhibited in any appearance shown on YouTube or on the newest dvd. But, that is what makes this whole forum so special. Being able to express one's own opinion.

I recall back in 1995 when it was released to the press that Journey was to reunite and were due to release a new CD, it was almost ten years since their last. It was released and trying to get a copy was almost impossible. I could not believe the impact this band had on a generation! And as quickly as it began, it ended even quicker! I respect this bands resilience, Niel, Ross and Jonathan are the bands backbone, I do think they need to redirect Arnel, and stop rehashing an old sound!

@Cimikeleh Thanks to Journey and special thanks to Neil Schon, the world is fortunate to have the opportunity to witness the arrival and career of Arnel Pineda. Not for being the lead singer, there are many that could do that and do a good job however, Arnel is the perfect example of humbleness, respect, loyalty, geniuses and demonstrates qualities most can only hope to develop before death. He is a true man and top three if not the top famous icon ever.

I am an unabashed Perry fan, and I truly don't think Perry can ever be equaled by anyone, but I absolutely agree that Arnel seems like an amazing human being with an incredible strength of will, spirit, and soul. I wish him the best, but hope that he can manage to create his own legacy versus covering Perry songs, as the new Journey music isn't going anywhere on the charts or in sales after the Revelation cover album as Eclipse tanked the week after debut
