Man I love love love love this live version. She plays to the crowd for a lot of it but then there is part where it is just her and the song and there's a quiet part that becomes bigger than her dreads ('Im cradling the heaviest part of me'), makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. It is a beautiful song. She is an incredible guitarist & performer & writer.

I agree with you....yes she is articulate and expresses herself in a very individual way...But my Goodness!!! Does everyone overlook what an amazing guitarist she is? She has amazing skill and has a style all her own. I'm glad I was a teenager learning guitar when this album came out! As a female it inspired me to experiment and love the guitar even more. Ani Difranco (the first album), Not so soft, Imperfectly and Not a pretty girl are perhaps my favorites - if i have to choose, but she's amazing all over - her more recent stuff is also worth listening to - lyrically you find treasures all over her discography ... just start somewhere :)
