yes. yes it will. so if your going in for repair. i suggest that you restore your ipod. back to factory settings.

You have to download the firmware iPod1,1_2.1_5F137_Restore.ipsw

(THIS IS FOR IPOD FIRST GEN)

NOT THE (Unless you got a second gen ipod)

those who have error message eg 6, u should be doing it wrongly.

for your info i have 1.1.5 ipod touch. u probably hold shift and left clicked update and later got a error, the correct way is to hold shift and left click RESTORE and tadaa! u have to wait around 15 mins and you're done!

For those who got error 5 and 6 .. here is the solution !!!!!

U don't have to download 2.0 , just download 2.1 firmware and save the firmware file in ipod software update folder ?

c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roamin­g\AppleComputer\ITunes\iPod Software Updates

By the way that is for Vista ,not sure windows XP... hint searh for it !

You don't have to click restore or update , just run the iTunes and connect your ipod and it will automaticaly update ipod to 2.1 free !!!!

are you sure it's ZIP :) ?

guess your Zip or WinRAR is associated with the ipsw extension. please do reconfirm...

so let me get this straight, i download all 6 of the files from those 6 links, and winRAR. then winrar extracts them all into a firmware that i update my itouch with? also, i went onto my ipod touch and went to settings> general> reset> reset all settings. i also erased all content and settings. is this the same as restoring my ipod via itunes? thanks..
