That explains why one key is found "in the road" like you showed in the vid. Why the
other you can only find with Brown's nose, why the other you have to go to that room where a hidden witche's vioce tells you she hid it, and why the last one isn't found...Or at least I think. Haven't played the game fully through yet T_T
You should really do more videos. Your blog is awesome, but most of what is covered there isn't made into video form. Hopefully you catch this comment, I don't see you coming onto YouTube much.
rule or rose, seems to me to have hints of growing up, the red crayon perhaps represents lipstick and maturity, also the one gift a month again hints at growing up and wanting maturity in a world where innocence, childish ideas and lack of adults are present shows that that the kids are expoilted by wendy and also mr hoffman as the hints of molesting children, although wendy isnt on the same level being a child herself and for apologising for what she did!
@patsybob also I'll add the idea that the orphans desire to be loved and wanted represented in the red crayon
(perhaps lipstick an icon of beauty in females) and also to be a part of family even if the aristocrat society is very abusive perhaps reflecting that they came from abusive familes and were tooken from their familes :(
"All they wanted was to be happy" :( its so true, I feel sorry for most of the characters
what doesn't fit in for me is, in her disarranged memories, why does she meet Gregory Wilson in the Airship / (=> orphenage) every now and then ( and refers to him as " a man she has naver seen before )
and why does Wilson draw all those (poorly drawn) childrens books? is it all on wendy's behalf? =p
Consistent with how Gregory, on the airship, is at first a man Jennifer has never seen before, Jennifer seems to meet Wendy for the very first time on the airship when Wendy is taking care of Mr. Bunny (that is, doing something relating to the orphanage), but Jennifer's first meeting with Wendy, in reality, was before Jennifer ever came to the orphanage. Jennifer's amnesia+repression+dreaming-mind distorts reality a lot.
It is interesting to speculate about Gregory visiting the orphanage. Is he the man Jennifer sees in a lavatory mirror? Stray Dog seems to be lurking in a lavatory in the Sir Peter storybook.
i really never would have noticed the tiny text... i just found my game and in this free week i will replay this great game and continue reading your blog... haha i have something to distract me .. beside some little house work i had to do..cheers!!!
Susan's motivation was probably just to repeat a word that she was unaccustomed to reading in order to reinforce her learning of it.
But, on another level, there was also some motivation for the RoR game-makers to want the game-player to remember the word "shadows", as you will see in part 2, so they may have written the scene as they did, with Susan repeating the word, for that reason.
The tiny text is mostly Engrish (spelling intentional) with a few Japanese words. Possibly a Japanese-to-English translator-program was used to compose it. Some of the names found in the tiny text don't match those currently in the game. I think that the tiny text was never officially meant to be in the game and that somebody just sneaked it in. So far, I don't think there is any value in what it says, but please take the link to my blog-site and judge for yourself.
That buzzing noise sounds like what happens on my lapper when the mic's volume is up too high. Might be different on yours though.
Anyway, I noticed that you used the sound of Susan "studying" to read the story instead of reading it yourself. I thought it was interesting that we hear Susan practicing that story over and over. I had wondered if perhaps that storybook hadn't infact existed in Jennifer's forgotten past.
A comment-maker, named badgame, on my blog-site managed to come up with some of the text. Use the link to my blog-post for this video (just now added) to get a link to that comment-thread.

The unlucky clover field, tells her first chapter in the red crayoins aristocracy.
1> she dropped the key in the road.
Meg drops the key...
2> It slipped by the shadows.
The two leaf keys can only be found by brown.
3>A witch hid it away.
The voice in marthas room said it hid it.
"Martha is acussed from witchcraf in the game"
4> only finds it by the completion fo the game..

Also, I wonder if there is any significance with Susan repeating the word 'shadows.' Is it only to practice pronunciation or maybe something else?

I've always loved Susan's voice; it's so gentle. I wonder if it's an authentic accent?

Did you ever figure out what the tiny text said?

You should do audio books or something. xD Even w/ the sound quality your voice is very soothing and your pronunciation very clear.

Fantastic video:)! Keep it up!! Can't wait for part 2. Your microphone wasn't really a problem. Do you have any idea why it does the static sound?

@Fuckingflesheater
No idea at present. I had hoped it was just that my laptop mike was no good. But the external mike turned out to be no better.
