  • I had that once you have to stay up all day and drink coffee or anything with caffeine

  • Nightol?

  • drink Monster energy drinks wakes you up... then you crash

  • Well... I wake up at 2 or 3 pm... (weekends) keep in mind on friday i woke up at six, and when to sleep at 2 or 3 am. I have a lousy day but once i get to the pc and play tf2 or wutevs i cant leave it... 5 or 6 am i go to sleep every saturday, my suggestion, 2 hrs of pc or less, worked for me

  • Hit yourself with a hammer, works for me. :P

  • I usually have insomnia like every other month but it is usually fine

  • i did this last summer. going to bed at 5 am and waking up at 4pm. the way i got back is i just went to sleep an hour later than the day before. one day 5am, then 6am, 7am and so on. and after 2 weeks i was back to normal. hope it works for you.

  • get a cold or something, you get hella tired from not doing much, and do exercise during the day then you will use up your energy to fall asleep by 11pm. I find if im tired and I say to myself... "ehh lets look at some youtube vids before i sleep" it keeps me away. I think the computer screen wakes you up or keeps you wired... something like that.

  • i cant sleept when i go too bed i am lying in my bed and i cant sleep

  • Well Jerma, I went through the same insomnia problem and the way I fixed it was have one or two energy drinks at around 7-8 and make sure you stay active (ie. Jog if not too dark or something), then try goimg to bed at around 9:30-11 and you will be dead tired :)

  • i would love to play with you one day.. is thhis ur most recent video?

  • Jerma i used to have insomnia problems but i bought a standing ossolating fan that have blow directly in my face, something about the sound and feeling of air blowing in my face puts me right to sleep

  • 2 drops of eye drops in any drink of your choosing

  • Anyway, nice video!

  • I have a similar problem, not that seruous though I guess. I go to sleep every day between 2-3 o' clock at night because I simply CANNOT go to sleep before that. I have tried to many times, trying to read a boring book, drinking tea and using earplugs etc. This is posing quite a big problem because I wake up every day at around 2 o' clock, sometimes 3pm. I am incapable of doing ANY KIND OF job that requires you to wake up early. I'm lucky to have a job that doesn't require that...

  • i once lost a match on that map, because a SNIPER ran all the way through the battlefield (not even jumping), touching the cart and giving it the last final push. i laughed so hard, because i watched all that in my death cam. :) I suck

  • Read in bed, always puts me to sleep. Light reading is best for that.

  • Your intro is epic!

  • i go to bed at like 1 o'clock in the morning and wake up at 6 o'clock and i have so much energy in the morning though i have had like 5 hours of sleep.

  • Just move to Japan duhhh

  • did you just explain my life in a nutshell?

  • How to do a jump with demoman?

  • Have you tried drinking "Sleepy-time tea"? I had the same exact problem, but that stuff works wonders.

  • Because of Youtube's 500 character limit, I was forced to break down my comment into three separate posts. They're posted in descending order for convenience. Good luck trying to fix your bad sleeping habit Jerma. It can be tiresome to fix, but once the habit sets in, you will feel better both mentally and physically. That moment where you wake up in time to see the sun begin to rise as you breath in the brisk morning air can be one of the most pleasurable feelings that one can experience.

  • I have had, and still have, the very same problem. One way I deal with it is by staying up all day, and go to bed at around 6-7 p.m. (6-7 instead of 9 because it's common to sleep for extended periods of time, 10-12 hours for example); however, it is nearly impossible to do this at home, more so if I'm a bit sleep deprived before attempting this. So, a solution to this is to just go outside, with friends or family if possible, before you feel like you'll collapse.

  • This way, if you do fall asleep, it's unlikely that you'll be in a deep sleep and, thus, will wake up every now and again. These short periods of rest actually help me to stay up for a few more hours if not the rest of the day.

That or 'slowly' fix your schedule by adjusting your sleeping times bit by bit. Preferably in a backwards manner, i.e. sleep an hour earlier.

  • Last couple of suggestions, stay away from caffeine and any other of those energy boosting drinks, at least while you're adjusting your schedule. These always give small bursts of energy, only to deplete you of it later and alters your body's natural ability to reset your circadian rhythm; do make sure you eat something in the morning, as it can help to reset the aforementioned rhythm.

  • Tried you need a frying pan:)

  • This happened to me I stayed awake until 12 at night went to sleep the next day 10 o clock EXACTLY I fell asleep for the rest of the day my friends actually went over to my house to see if I was ok

  • Jerma, I've had the same problem before, what i found was that when I played video games within an hour before I was going to bed I would stay awake for a long time.

Try playing no video games right before you are going to bed.

  • i lay on my bed for like 3 hours just bored then like 19 mins i fall alseep

  • i have the EXACT problem too

  • JermaCraft?

  • fly demo fly 1:21

  • 2) I was diagnosed with ADD and for a while was taking Adderol, which is just delayed-release amphetamine. I found as long as long as I took it at the same time in the morning without fail it basically reset my internal clock and pretty much fixed the problem. Note: NOT the same thing as methamphetamine, meth is terrible shit which will destroy your life. Thought I'd better clarify that...

  • I've got the same thing - I basically have no biological clock, or if I do it's wired to like a 32-hour long day. Two solutions that have worked for me:

    1) When I had a job I actually enjoyed, I was able to make myself get there on time even on low sleep, which kept me on days. [continued]

  • im struguling with the same problem and im 15

  • I have insomnia, And It's so annoying... I want to sleep but I can't... LOL

  • Jerma have you tried the ice cube trick. You put one Icecube on the top of your ear every time the previous one melts and keep that up until u want to go to sleep

  • Prolonged Electronic Use causes Insomnia: I.E. Videogames,Youtube,Facebook, Stuff like that.Doctors Recommend that a person should stop using their electronic device and wait an hour after stopping before going to bed it ensures that your brain doesn't overwork itself while trying to sleep causing Insomnia.

  • Jerma, a lot of people I know do that. Hope you can fix it.

  • /watch?v=VOPKUVjNyR0&feature=youtu.be

  • How do you know when to record gameplay footage?

  • Read a book before u try and get to sleep. It's helps me out a lot. Even if your not a big reader read a comic or start to read. Good author matthew Reilly.

  • Read a book n

  • use sleepyti.me its a website that will help you with your sleeping problem...

  • JERMA, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, im 15 and i have been having this for 3 years. i wake up at 7 for school on weekdays, and i start to sleep at 11. only to stare and the black dark celling for. 6 hours..... i have 2 hours of sleep alot its become so regular that i dont feel tired anymore. and if i ever slept for like 11 hours or 15 hours straight. i'd be jumping about. and thats where TF2 kicks in and own. the stay awake theory doesnt work in my case. now i feel EXTREMELY SCREWED. maybe cause of ADHD ):

  • you die just as fast from sleep deprivation as u do from food deprivation

  • UMMM, JERMA U GONNA DIE TOMORROW

  • omg just like me but i have came to normal XD

  • I've had a similar problem to you. But you need to find something that entertains you and to keep you busy. It doesn't have to be games or music, but something recreational such as a sport of just hanging out with friends. Basically find something that will preoccupy you.

  • I have been troubled by very similar sleeping disorder you describe in your video. But after a while I realized that my day is longer then the normal 24 hours. So now I just have a weird 32 hours cycle where I'm typically awake between 22 and 25 hours.

One other thing to consider is how much time you spend in front of a PC. The brightness can severely mess up your internal clock. Try "Flux" to adjust your screen temperature to warmer less bright colors at night. It helps some people. Take care.

  • I have had the same problem for the past 3 months or so. The last 2 weeks I have found something that helps. I have been adjusting my sleep schedule by 1 hour a day until I'm back on schedule. Now I'm waking up at 8 and falling asleep at 10.

  • I do this at the summer. The week before school starts I just grab a bunch of soda cans and candy and stay up until 9pm. It works for me, I guess you should just stay strong. :) The following story I'm about to tell you happened twice to my sister. She couldn't sleep, if she did, it would only be a minute of rest. So she pulled EIGHT all nighters, in a ROW, but she STILL couldn't sleep. When she was back to normal, she slept for like 4 days straight. lol :3

  • @PoopingInTheBathtub I'm going to doubt that. You die if you don't sleep for 10 days so if she didn't sleep for 8 she would have been in hospital in a critical condition

  • Masturbate

  • @MrNayzzz Brilliant! I shall try that theory now!

  • Move to China. Problem solved.

  • Awwwwwww That looks great over there AOHHOHAWE

  • get out of your house workout and you'll fall asleep at the right times trying to stay whilst in your place will never happen

  • YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I had insomnia for all of my freshman year because I couldn't get Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen out of my head. I was pretty messed up.

  • Jerma I could use some advice for this too if you learn any good tips =D

  • @booman61 @booman61 huge fan man love your vids keep making them

  • @booman61 does that mean you are on american time zone? So i have better chance at playing wit u? Please say yes

  • @booman61 here's my advice for you. stop watching jerma's videos at 2:00 AM in the morning! don't be a dumbass like me...

  • Nightquil

  • About Insomnia... bad shit.... I'm like 15/16 and I can't sleep at night, unless I force myself to sleep... no like REALLY force, bdsm shit... no I keed but I can't fall asleep at night... so my grandma told me this: "before going to sleep, drink a hot cup of milk with suger and grind nutmeg" I was like "Sure grandma..." Tried once... and I preeeety fine now... still awake at 4 am... by my choice, I can go to sleep whenever I want... Checked and approved by mom. And only 0 letters to go fuck yea

  • This really doesn't sound like insomnia, just like a fucked up schedule.

When I don't have class I go to bed at 4 and wake up at 12. Is it messed up ? A bit. Is it insomnia ? No, my schedule just slides forward by a couple of hours.

You just seem to have a serious case of that.

The way I correct it is by progressively shifting my schedule back, 30 mins/1 h every day untill I'm back to normal.

And you need the sunlight for vitamin D.

  • Step1: Drink a couple of beers

    Step2: Have sex

    Step3: Sleep like a baby

    Works for me :D

  • @Hellcat915 He has Crohn's, unfortunately he cannot drink. :P

  • @xXGeitzXx douchebag genetics these days: cool guy - he needs something bad.

  • Try some Melatonin to reset your body clock. It's a natural supplement that helps you sleep. Worked for me.

  • you could try reading a dictionary or something like that

  • Sleep pills?

  • jerma im 12 and the best way to get out of that problem is to get as much energy drinks as possible and stay up all day when you feel tired go for a walk or something thts what i did and im ok now

  • Yoo try milk :)

  • YO Jerma I was one of your medic buddies :D

  • i've been on holiday for a month and i miss this game so much. i'm gonna pig out straight TF2 for 3 days non-stop when i get home lol

  • I had the same sort of issues, and what worked for me is just turning of the computer at least an hour before I wanted to go to sleep, and then just listening to music, reading, doing anything to just wind down my brain. I found that if i went to bed straight after being on the computer, my mind would keep whirring away for hours, preventing me from sleeping. Anyway, hope you break the cycle. Good luck.

  • THIS IS A TIP JERAMA LIKE THIS TO MAKE THIS MESSAGE GO TO HIM , WELL U CANT PLAY VIDEO GAMES AT LEASET 30 MINITES BEFORE U SLEEP

  • Jerma I had this before to, this is what I did I basically stayed up till 8:00pm and slept till tmrw and it's good get 5 cups of coffee and 10 cans of Monster energy drink

  • i know how you feel jerma

  • In my first year of high school I found it hard to sleep before 12 because homework was keeping me up till like 11 and I wasnt used to sleeping past 2. To get my mind to rest I'd make a diary/journal which I'd write whenever I couldn't sleep:)

  • well, as far as I know sleep deprivation, after time, can cause weakness in your immune system, and of course can affect deductive reasoning, and just simple thinking. So really, you don't need to be so worryful, other then the immune system thing. So you'll just be stupid and sick, you won't die like, tommorow. And that's why you favorite wikipedia.

  • I work 3-12 every single day pretty much, and because of that my sleep schedule is insane. If I don't have someone physically pull me from under the covers I will sleep until 2:30pm every single day, because I just stay awake so long.

  • @Jerma985 put ur watch right next to ur ear, close ur eyes and u shoul fallasleep in 5 minutes at max

  • used to have that problem, i woke up 1-2-3-4pm it sucked ballz, missed basically more then half the day, then i switched, just went from waking up in the afternoon to waking up 9am on the dot even tho i went to bed around 4am, what i used to do is before i went to sleep i said to myself a few times, " i am going to wake up 9am " and set my alarm and all and bam! sleeping pattern fixed

  • The trick is to not go full force but wean yourself hour by hour. Stay up another an hour more than you would usually, put an alarm for an hour later than you would normally wake up. You should be fixed within a week to a month.

  • Best thing to do is pretty much eat at the time you want to sleep and it usually changes your equilibrium to breakfast mode...

  • I have the same thing, I just bang my head really hard on the table until it knocks me out, then I always wake up at 9:00 A.M.

  • I have insomnia and another sleep disorder and I can sleep 16 hours but it it sucks cause I don't wake up easley so when I have school I miss alot and that sucks because I want the educations

  • Pro Tip: I experiance JetLag ALOT because my girlfriend in is Bahrain until june... What I do is stay up and when you get that "I wanna sit down" feeling, go and eat and then work out about 20min later. It keeps you up for a bit. Then go to sleep about 9pm that night, like a kindergarten kid... It helps me out, maybe it will help you. Tell me how it goes buddy.

  • Jerma! I've just recently got out of the exact same thing. I know exactly what you mean about the bed haha. What I did was, every single day staying 1 hour later than I would, 2pm 3pm 4pm and so on. Now every single night at 9 o'clock I get tired as fuck, and couldn't stay up even if I wanted to.

  • Easy fix, Alcohol (lots of it)

  • Well from my experiences, you should,at 5p.m, jog in place then play games or use loud music. I use it to weaken my nerves and muscles then i lay down and poof im out. Also what mediguns are for what situations?

  • i wouldnt said u have insomnia i would more said that ur sleep cycle have been inverse like if ur biological clock inside you was saying to you that it is the day when it is dark actually because who suffer from insomnia just cant sleep in any ways

  • Jerma I do the same shit but i can't sleep at all except on weekends because of school. I literally just woke up. My grades are shit and I try to smoke pot to sleep and my dad won't get a prescription sleep aid and he would kill me if he found about the pot

  • So how do you work if you are up all night and sleeping all day?

  • I used to have the same problem over the summer and a few times during the school year. During the summer I managed to stay up until around 6 or 7 pm which helped me get it back on track only to fuck it up again. And during school I usually just stay up during the night and drink a monster or something before school to help me stay up and then do something physical that can keep me from falling sleep and gets me extra tired by the time night comes.

  • Exact same thing. Just fixed my sleeping a couple days ago though. :)

  • Anyone notice the engineer's name at the end who killed Jerma?

  • It isn't chronic insomnia... Your "bodily clock" is basically fucked. Needs some retuning!

  • they have pills for that

  • great pseudo pyro rush

  • Jerma! Don't try Staying awake for the whole day, rather stay awake an hour more each day and progressively change your body clock.

  • Alcohol. Take a few shots (3-4) and wait for a bit. Lay down, and try falling asleep. Have as many shots according to your alcohol tolerance level.

  • @Rytis44 Because of another sickness he possesses, he can't drink alcohol very often, and has to limit it to about 1-4 times a year... Alcohol doesn't have that great of an effect when you're supposed to be sleeping, maybe in an immediate situation, but you'll end up getting really unhealthy if you keep that up. If you do it, I'd recommend some really healthy food, like a sandwich or something that doesn't take too long to make, and then just let the muscles relax until it's done.

  • jerma, same thing happened to me, and still happens. what i do to fix it (just a temp fix) is just stay up till around 8 or 9, then go sleep. then the cycle becomes normal again.

it only really works for around a week or 2 then it goes back :/

you get used to it tho :3

  • "every night i wake up 3 in the morning, insomnia keeps a little nigga zonin" :3

  • take lots of 5 hour energy LOTS

  • I liked this video 28 times. I watched this video twice. Oh wait i liked this video 40 times, I liked the video 12 times the first time I watched it. Then I favorite the video 4 times. Love all your videos Jerma, still.

  • "I fall into it and die"

    Trolololololololol

  • NO DRUGS. NO CAFFEINE TO WAKE YOU UP. NO NIQUITIL TO MAKE YOU SLEEP.

It's all down to psychology, you're preoccupied, you think there's way more to do in the day and so now you've tricks yourself into, 'oh well, at least it isn't a whole day'. I'm surprised you've been letting this happen for 7 years!

  • take webber naturals it resets your sleep cycle

  • One advice: DRUUUUGGGSSS

You'll fall down really fast :3

  • have you ever visit iceland at winter (dark all day) (sun comes up and stay there for like 3 hours):)

  • Easy way to solve this is to wake up an hour earlier each day and sleep an hour quicker. Within 1-2 weeks you should be back on regular sleeping hours, also don't play videos games for 1-2 hours before going to sleep as this doesn't help you to fall asleep.

  • Meditation and exercise, trust me. I know you have ADHD but you should at least try it out.

  • @Jerma985 I had to deal with that my first year in college as well and had severe issues trying to correct it considering it screwed up my first semester completely. I had to resort to narcotics to correct my sleep schedule. I wouldn't recommend those unless as a last resort. It took about a week to gradually shift my sleeping schedule to the right place, about an hour or so change per night.

  • see you just take a shit load of nightquill

  • I TRIED TO CALL DURING THE TIME THAT HUMAN BEINGS ARE AWAKE!!! loollolollolol

  • @RadovanEdmond I was actually talking more about the "what sleep?" part. I have no idea what Koromaru means.

  • Drink coffee or in my case lots of cola. Stay awake during the day and you will be one tired dude! Hope it works.

  • This happens to me every weekend and I can't correct it until like wednesday of that week. But staying up all night and day until like 8-9pm helps me get back on track. Idk how to help ya out though :(

  • When you close your eyes, do two things to make yourself fall asleep quickly. One, convince yourself you're in motion, like you're on a roller coaster or in freefall. Two, pay attention to the different levels of darkness on your eyelids. Try to notice patterns of color flooding your vision from the outside of your field of view inward.

  • Isn't this, like, artificial jetlag you've caused on yourself? it sure sounds like it.

Seeing as dramatically trying to change your sleeping schedule does not work, why not try to change it slowly? If you normally sleep about eight hours, try to shift those eight hours forward or backward by half an hour, or an hour, everyday. When I travel I can normally cope quite well with jetlag: a 9-hour difference is fixed in about 2-3 days, but you could try taking it slowly. More natural. My 2 cents.

  • sleep 12 hours... wake up. 0 missed calls 1 missed message *OPEN* get free minuites now! FOREVER ALONE.

  • Avoid bright lights before you go to bed (for like a half hour before) and get some melatonin pills to take before you begin your bedroom routine. You need to give your body a new schedule for producing melatonin, and those together will do it for you. Also, have a set time that you wake up every morning =)

  • I have the same issue, ten years of sleep deprivation. I will sit down in bed, look a the clock, and then sit there for hours at a time. Also, caffiene, sugar, and just about everything else that SHOULD give me energy makes me extremely sleepy. I once had three or four cups of coffee, went to a seminar on the latest advances in genetics, and woke up at the end to find that I had the longest sleep I'd ever had in years.

  • I'm thirteen and I'm in secondary school (High-school for you Americans.) and like, I can only sleep in between the hours 5am-11am.

    If anyone has a way to sleep, please tell me ;-;

  • Watch C-SPAN. That's what I do.

  • Same prob... But not excatly i can go to sleep at any time and wake up at 3-4 pm in the afternoon.... And on nights i push my self to sleep but still it takes 2-4 hours to do that

  • Yo jerma I have the same problem with Isomnia. This problem is really messing me up.I'm being late for school some times and I fell very tired some days. But on top of that I have dyslexia.Hopefully i can over come this problem.

  • exercise regularly, stop eating about an hour or so before you go to sleep, spank the monkey, hold your breathe until you pass out... they all work

  • u should drink icetea with a knockout smoke is what i call it it will knock u right out

    in 5 minutes

  • Holy shit, are you me? I have literally the exact same problem and sleep the exact same hours and have the exact same issue trying to explain to everyone that I can't just magically go to sleep whenever I want. Staying up all night and sleeping all day is not my choice. Who would willingly subject themselves to that? If I found a genie I'm pretty sure one of my wishes would be a button placed somewhere conveniently on my body that I could push to go to sleep. Maybe a dial to set the hours too.

  • @Floydzkrieg Haha, i had said that before as well. "give me a dial for sleep, i would use it every night!"

  • @Floydzkrieg *have

  • Same stuff here. Go to sleep around 8AM, wake up at 3/4PM. I got it back to normal a couple of months ago tho, trying the technique you mentioned, only I didnt fall asleep at noon. :D But I'm back at this bad habit, so I guess I'll have to do it all over again :(

  • Read a Brittish written book (like Jane Eyre) or an old textbook (Governemnt works best) knocks me out constantly (at the most inconvient of times of course)

  • @zat225029 I will def try reading. Its hard for me though, I have huuuge ADHD. I can barely read a menu at a restaurant, let alone a book, haha.

  • @Jerma985 Use Melatonin, it's a natural pill that uses the stuff in Turkey that knocks you out.You can buy it at Walmart or Meijer. I use it, works every time. I have the same problem as you do, and that works for me.

  • I work the graveyard shift, so I need to switch over to regular peoples time a fair bit. My solution: Energy drinks. Lots and lots of energy drinks.

  • I've had problems extremely similar over the past 3 years or so. Continuously be in contact with people while you are trying to stay awake for the entire day and it seems to be a little easier. I find some of the hardest parts of correcting your pattern aren't just staying awake the day after, but also functioning for the next week or so when you are still missing 8-10 hours of sleep. Hope things get better for you, nice vid Jerma.

  • I have a tip, try to stay awake the entire day, but have people around you, like do a live stream for example, have people preoccupy you do you can fall asleep even if you wanted to

  • I've been suffering from insomnia and sleep deprivation for years, so I can definitely sympathize with you, Jerma. One method I find that really helps to correct it is to try and stay awake for an hour or so longer each day until you're back on track. So say you go to sleep at 6AM and wake up at 8PM, your goal the next day would be to stay up until 7AM and go to sleep, then wake up at 9PM, and so on over the course of a week or so. You'll eventually fall back into a regular sleep pattern.

  • I feel for you Jerma. I have stomach issues too and sleep problems. I've tried all sorts of things to try and knock me out but I seem to be pretty immune to most medication for some reason. =S If you are looking for a short term fix to maybe correct it then I'd give CurrentlyBehindYou advice a try and see your doctor about some sleep aids but as I'm sure he will tell you be careful with them because for most people if you take them for more than a week your body gets hooked on them. Good luck.

  • And just adding to my last comment: make sure you're eating regular, fairly balanced meals. Try to eat around the same time every day - smaller meals, more often. ALWAYS eat breakfast, which will keep you on track for the rest of the day. Having a regulated metabolism can go a long way to helping your circadian rhythm normalize.

  • You sound just like me, Jerma. My sleep's been screwed since college for the same reason (and also because I have PTSD), and it is really hard to cope with. I think though, that at this stage, you might consider going to a doctor. I know, I need to do it too. Abnormal sleep is pretty unhealthy, and they have tools to help you. Also, make sure you can, on the days you're up, to take sunlight outside and exercise regularly. Exercise can help - at least, it helps me regulate a bit better. <3

  • Jerma, an idea kinda similar to your just don't sleep thing is to set an alarm for like 10 am or so. Then get like 5 or 6 hours of sleep and go to bed at like midnight. You should be tired enough, if you can stay awake.

  • i got the same problem as you jerma...going to sleep at 5am wake up at 3pm

  • Playing MMORPG and watching anime I'm going to bed in 5 am. So, sometimes I don't sleep. It all happens when I have holidays)

  • As someone who has been dealing with chronic insomnia for roughly the same length of time as you, I can understand and appreciate the reluctance of going to a doctor. On my first visit, he gave me some medicine to help me sleep, though they weren't all that strong. A few visits later he found stuff that worked, and these have really helped. I probably don't take them as often as I should, but if you really want to get your sleep cycle back on track, I'd seriously advise medication like this.

  • Hi Jerma! I'm not following you since a long time but I like your videos..

About your issue, I would recommend you to try meditation. It's the healthiest, fastest, easiest way to find sleep cycle again, along with other benefits. Don't do it before going to bed as meditation is not sleep-inducing (rather the contrary), preferably just after you wake up, before eating anything and after a cold shower. (you can skip the cold shower :p ).

Find some nice guided meditation to help you get started :)

  • One word: dito.
