This game showed everything the snes could handle, this is just the first level so don't get so depressed trust me it gets funner, for the sega genesis Adventures of batman was one of the games that showed what the sega can do.

No, it isn´t. Have you ever played Turrican 2 on Amiga? That game bigger, badder and meaner compare to this Snes version. The music is also better and the levels are more varied. I like Snes of course, but not all conversions. Contra (jap), or Super Probotector (US) is a nice game, but far to short, it´s cool as long it last, but there could have been more levels...

imo one of the BEST turrican versions ever, and this is coming from someone who's owned a commodore 64 + turricanl, they captured everything in this version, it blew me away when I first played this on the snes.
Not as cool as the first one but not a very good game. Nice movements and enemies and I like when in the first level turrican steps in a car. Kinda like supermario did with the horse.
This game was actually disappointing to me, the music was forgettable, and despite some cool graphic effects it just wasn't the same. Super Turrican was a much better game overall.

or, maybe, they just realized that the unfocused design of the prequel was stupid and corrected it. I mean, a big open level with secrets only works if your character can aim/shoot in 8 directions!!! Turrican shoots like Mega Man, not the Contra guys, therefore the first game was cheap as hell. This one looks like a massive improvement since they rethought the level designs so well now... It may be more linear, but it also looks to work alot better too.

I know how you feel there. I gave up on that damn stage 6-2 on Ninja Gaiden, and just went here to watch the ending so I could start on Ninja Gaiden 2. I might check out this game.

If you want really insane, check out Double Dragon 3. ONE LIFE, throughout the entire game. Nothing else. When you die, it's over. You start from the beginning.
The first Turrican lacks that moment of invincibility when you're hit. If one enemy touches you long enough, it's a near-instant kill.
Near the end of this first scene of ST2, smashing the flying droids under the buggy's tires is good fun. If you take Rebound to the boss, he's good as gone.
Shame this series didn't go on further- I'd have liked a Super Turrican 3 on Sega Saturn.
I actually own this game, treasure it too since it's quite rare (NTSC SNES copy). It's definitely different compared to the other Turrican's, but I still think it's incredible. The music has a different style in my opinion too, but it's pretty ahead of its time.

Totally different to Turrican II, with its own Hulsbeck soundtrack but an equally good game. I'd love to see a comp with the Amiga versions of Turrican, Turrican II, Turrican III (Mega Turrican on the Megadrive / Genesis), the SNES Super Turrican and this one. Hell, throw the original C64 versions in as well. Long forgotten and brilliant titles they all were.
I liked playing this game alot, though the lack of a damage sound, and the lack of a damage animation (just jumping back a little) was slightly annoying, sometimes it was easy in hectic battles to not notice you were being hurt when you were looking at all the bullets or enemies in some areas, of course there was the emergency sound when you were low, but kind of a "too little too late" thing lol. Otherwise though, an awesome game with varied levels, challenging and also excellent gameplay :).

the 2 versions are differents ok but if you compare the frame rate, the sound quality, the details of sprites the amiga is better. the amiga version have 11 channels sound, how many for SNES -> 4. The SNES sprites are coarses, the turrican is big and we see the SNES can be print low level pixel but 1 point for SNES's mode 7. I don t write that SNES version is not good but all amiga-fan will say that the computer version is better, why ? Turrican is born on Amiga 500 :)
Ok, you got some points there but hey, Amiga 500 can only have more than its initial 4 sound channels through technical gimmickry. And fyi, SNES has 8 ADPCM channels. And pallette of 32768, 256 on screen. Amiga 500...4096 and 32.
People can't say that the Amiga version is better because there is simply NO Amiga version of this. It was an SNES exclusive and there are no matching counterparts on the Turrican series for the Amiga.
@WeskerSega thank you man, yes this was indeed an snes exclusive and as a big snes collector who knows a lot about the snes board I can say that this game really showed pretty much everything the snes could do. MODE 7, ROTATING & Zooming levels, it had it all.
The first time i ever saw and played on Turrican was on the Commodore 64 and rainbow arts did some serious parallax scrolling and sprite handling that certainly shown off the commodore 64 - the spectrum and the amstrad versions paled in comparison
The Amiga version is much better. This version has been messed about with too much. Looks like a cross between Lunar Jetman and Wizball. And the music is pants.
There's no Amiga version of this. It would have been Turrican 4 on that platform (as Mega Turrican was Turrican 3 on the Amiga), but the Amiga was far from interest on the Factor 5 side at that point.
Awesome game. Everyone should have this in their SNES collection. I actually won a brand new, sealed copy on eBay about 4 years ago for 83¢ plus like $3.00 shipping... only to see the same exact thing sell twice, two weeks later for $69.99 BIN.
Actually the man is right, Turrican 2 on the Amiga i brilliant!, especially the sound & music within the game, and yes, every Turrican game youve seen on every other platform have just been either copies or conversions of the Amiga originals but with sound that nowhere near compares to the Amiga which always had far superior sound.

There's no Amiga version of this. It would have been Turrican 4 on that platform (as Mega Turrican was Turrican 3 on the Amiga), but the Amiga was far from interest on the Factor 5 side at that point.

Awesome game. Everyone should have this in their SNES collection. I actually won a brand new, sealed copy on eBay about 4 years ago for 83¢ plus like $3.00 shipping... only to see the same exact thing sell twice, two weeks later for $69.99 BIN.

Actually the man is right, Turrican 2 on the Amiga i brilliant!, especially the sound & music within the game, and yes, every Turrican game youve seen on every other platform have just been either copies or conversions of the Amiga originals but with sound that nowhere near compares to the Amiga which always had far superior sound.

This is one of the greatest platformer series' ever made. Mega Turrican on the Genny is my fav., but this title is very good too.
