@Gundamseedsucks Not true, it modernized 0079 with huge success. 0079 didn't have the same response even when they tried to air it a few years ago. Seed did what 0079 couldn't, it received higher ratings, diverse characters, it was widely praised for character driven storyline, gundams and battles. Which attracted not only Gundam fans and otaku's but the mainstream audience. In fact it was claimed to be the best standalone Gundam series to date. Do your research, those are facts not opinions.
@MoeJae86 I'm not so sure if bringing in ratings is a reliable factor for determining the quality of a show. I mean, just look at Narto and bleach. Those shows get exceptional ratings but ultimately, they are average at best. As for characters, I like the rivalry between Kira and Athrun, but I sort of dislike how Kira progressed through the series. He preached about how war is wrong and yet at the same time he's blowing stuff up like there's no tomorrow.
@Reaper00140 Agreed, rating don't always mean good show. Critics outside the gundam realm have also praised it, actually drawing them in for many reasons. Yes Kira did contradict himself but in a sense I think it hit home. Showing the ugly side of war, there is no win situation even if you have good intentions, you can still cause others to suffer. And Kira has his fair share of making others suffer. I didn't like Kira mainly being a god like plot device, when the original story had him to die.
@Gundamseedsucks I agree Kira was a cry baby from the start, as the series progresses he changes. Meaning his character is dynamic rather than static, a plus in my book. I don't blame him, a sheltered civilian tossed into the war. Having no choice but to protect those he care for, to make decisions beyond his control, killing just to survive, going against morals for the sake to see another day. Trying to make good judement. Very stressful I could imagine, and to face your own childhood friend.
@MoeJae86 However those characters you mentioned have either military experience or born to fight. Hench the reason they are "manly" they were trained for that kind of stuff, so it's easier for them kill their enemy. Now beam spamming, it's Gundam. Each gundam series has their overkill, yes maybe they went a little crazy with the beams, but it doesn't make it a horrible series. It boils down to personal preference. Wing and 00 is my least fav, again that's my own view point.

@Gundamseedsucks Not true, it modernized 0079 with huge success. 0079 didn't have the same response even when they tried to air it a few years ago. Seed did what 0079 couldn't, it received higher ratings, diverse characters, it was widely praised for character driven storyline, gundams and battles. Which attracted not only Gundam fans and otaku's but the mainstream audience. In fact it was claimed to be the best standalone Gundam series to date. Do your research, those are facts not opinions.

@MoeJae86 I'm not so sure if bringing in ratings is a reliable factor for determining the quality of a show. I mean, just look at Narto and bleach. Those shows get exceptional ratings but ultimately, they are average at best. As for characters, I like the rivalry between Kira and Athrun, but I sort of dislike how Kira progressed through the series. He preached about how war is wrong and yet at the same time he's blowing stuff up like there's no tomorrow.

Yes Kira did contradict himself but in a sense I think it hit home. Showing the ugly side of war, there is no win situation even if you have good intentions, you can still cause others to suffer. And Kira has his fair share of making others suffer. I didn't like Kira mainly being a god like plot device, when the original story had him to die.

@Gundamseedsucks I agree Kira was a cry baby from the start, as the series progresses he changes. Meaning his character is dynamic rather than static, a plus in my book. I don't blame him, a sheltered civilian tossed into the war. Having no choice but to protect those he care for, to make decisions beyond his control, killing just to survive, going against morals for the sake to see another day. Trying to make good judement. Very stressful I could imagine, and to face your own childhood friend.

Hench the reason they are "manly" they were trained for that kind of stuff, so it's easier for them kill their enemy. Now beam spamming, it's Gundam. Each gundam series has their overkill, yes maybe they went a little crazy with the beams, but it doesn't make it a horrible series. It boils down to personal preference. Wing and 00 is my least fav, again that's my own view point.
