  • Thanks. I've got this on one of my pcs. It's a great os but I don't think it's as good as the debian/ubuntu based os's. The kde desktop is a bit heavy on resources imo whereas gnome isn't. Also the soundsystem is always better on the gnome desktops. I've never managed to record internet radio streams with audacity on kde whereas with ubuntu based systems I've never had any problems. So I'll probably replace it with ubuntu studio. Although without doubt it is a good os.

  • PCLinuxOS is significantly worse than Ubuntu. Ubuntu is three times faster than pclos, and does not steal resources such as pclos do.If you like a slow computer, so use pclos. pclos using the very slow KDE desktop. Should you however like a useful and fast computer, use Ubuntu. Ubuntu is the best and easiest Linux-distro to day

  • PC Linux is the best KDE disto i have tryed. Kubuntu, fordra and suse all fell bata in the KDE desktop. Pc Linux KDE even lets me run bahees to sync my ipod touch. Only reason i used GNOME in the past because KDE 4xx never work fully. I give PC LINUX 9 out of 10

  • I love this distro but there is a question, how can I install software in this distro?

    Please help.

  • @WinAndLinuxTutorials Use google to find RPM'S to download. Also use Synaptic package manger to find software to install. to in install RMP open a terminal windows type:$ rpm -i filename.rpm then Enter. also study commands in linux they come handy.

  • @WinAndLinuxTutorials

    With the synaptic package manager..

But everytime you launch it hit refresh.. also make sure the repository works...

It is a rolling distro so your distro is always up to date for ever, so never need to reinstall every half year..

I have great experience with me it is rock solid and stable

  • @MrDemilord Okay, how I update software?

  • @WinAndLinuxTutorials

open synaptic package manager, type in password... Hit in the toolbar reload.. when done, hit Mark All Upgrades.. Then hit Apple.. and Apple..

  • @MrDemilord Thanks a lot for this! But I forgot to mention a problem I am facing with PCLinuxOS. I have a DSL with a wireless router, encrypted with a password. When I try to connect to the wireless network, the first time it asked me for the password of the wireless network, I typed it correctly and clicked connect. It always gives me an error that connection failed! What can I do?

  • this distro rocks !

  • Good one, Mark ;) By the way, Mandriva 2011 RC1 is out, you might want to take a look at that..

  • @xskydevilx Thanks, I am downloading it as we speak, should be done in about an hour, I will probably make a video later tonight. :)

  • @MarrkDaviid Awesome... Also, 2011.6 version is only available in the KDE version, at this time.

  • @xskydevilx Alright, thanks for letting me know.
