back hands are low percentage shots for most levels. yeah they look cool, but i'm so much happier when my team just legs up and delivers an accurate shot. and i know that its meant for set but still rather have him roll out and take the sweep.
You guys are all retarded thats Chris Humbert!!!! one of the most best centers ever he dominated in high school, College, the olympics, and the in Greece on olympiakos. And the Euro's who say we dont know water polo.... well unless you're from Hun then you have no room to talk.
You guys are all retarded thats Chris Humbert!!!! one of the most best centers ever he dominated in high school, College, the olympics, and the in Greece on olympiakos. And the Euro's who say we dont know water polo.... well unless you're from Hun then you have no room to talk.
wow fast i kinda do it with spins cuz it gives it more power, but in the game when someone is playing with you its better to do it that way when u wanna pass or somethin like that
Even though your hand is going to end up on top of the ball, your focus should be to take your forearm/wrist to the spot on the ball nearest to you. And you should clear the ball from the water by rotating your arm (90 degrees) until your elbow is parallel to the surface. Then lead with your elbow back, the path of the shot right above the water's surface.
im so glad i started to play this sport. i don't care about speedos they feel so good when you put them on. i feel free. i just had a tourney today and i have another one tomorrow.
You know where the cage is cuz when you look at opposite side of the pool you see the other cage so you know where the cage is bhind you because it is parallel other side
im trying out for water polo at my school cuz alot of my friends convinced me to join & cuz im a good swimmer. but i don't i don't look that great in a speedo cuz i have a jammers tan.
Don't worry about how u look in a speedo. If you can swim well, good chance you have a swimmer's build. When I was in HS, we rarely had a swimming team because no guy wanted to wear speedos. I tried to learn to swim, but swimming lessons in Canada were a luxury, very expensive. Whatever I learned was on my own. But I know I don't have the skills to play on a water polo team. I'm looking into private swimming lessons.
I jus started playing water polo cuz i just got into high school, but either way, I learned the back hand shot a few days ago and I find it very helpful its a quick and pretty accurate shot if u can control it. But whatever.
i just started but the funny thing is that i just learning how to swim. i was just pick cause my track speed and volleyball hand corridnation. should i continue to stick with it. my coach hasn't decided to pick next season squad but i want to make the team.
cupping the ball is for ams. you have absolutely no control of the ball and a good goalie will eat your shot. a good backhand is done when absolutely nessesary and when your defense is on the wrong side to block the arm.
and by the way when you take your move forward i take it backward so it looks like you pushed me back to get the ball and will be a foul on you and believe me it works :D
Good way to draw, but you cannot shoot off the foul! Unless you're behind 5 meters, but then you shouldn't be using backhand anyway. Or did you mean something else?
the one who will make tha backhand shoot is the forward you will be the backstanding so you can see that it is very fast to block it so taking a move backward in the same second he take it to get the ball will be the proper move the referee will make it a foul for the backstanding (YOU) then its your turn to attack , you don't have to shoot it now
im not really sure what you just wrote, but are u saying that you draw the foul at point or at the hole set? and then u dont have to shoot it? the backhand IS a shot, so i dont really understand that.
noo i am not the one who will shoot the ball , i am talking about blocking it ,so i will draw a foul so that the backhand shoot won't be done , i understand you now :) i am the one who defend this backhand not shooting it
Nice show of technique. However, there are a few things to note when executing this move.
1) You're usually the centreman
2) Two Unless you are able to shake the defender off. Most of the time you should and arm would not be able to swing backwards that much. Reducing accuracy and power.
3) Most defenders would NOT just try and tap your hand. They would place their palm on your elbow. so that the backhand becomes almost impossible to execute.
When you snap out to the ball THINK of taking your your upper forearm on the front of the ball NOT your hand to the top. This will help keep your weight off the top of the ball and your arm bent so you can lead back with the elbow.
Notice how his arm is bent when he snaps sideways to the ball at the 45 second mark. This is extremely important. This is much faster and more powerful than a straight arm grab.

You should not CUP it between your hand and upperarm.
Cuz you cannot steer your shot anymore.
it will be a shot of luck.
Go watch the pro's, and see you just have to use it in your hand.
