  • looks too heavy. need veneer and light semi-monocoque fuselage.

    weight?

  • i mean wood lol

  • hey wat kind of word is dat and did u have a plan and inbox me i want to build my own one that can fly

  • Looks a bit light to me, I suggest covering her with some 3/4inch MDF followed with a few layers of fiberglass.

  • Here are some things that might help. #1. Try to take a bit of wood off. Like get a saw and round off each peace. that could drop up to 100 lbs. #2. The fact of it looking so heavy you are going to need a wider wingspan. #3. Put the fuel tank in the back to try and counterbalance the weight of the engine. happy flights

  • at least put a engine in it from an army surplus store

  • nice work. hope its RC though?

  • any updates on it?

  • use your pocket money on something more basic like logo

  • it's a flugtag plane :p

  • is it a rc airplane ?

  • It can fly if it's balanced. The first planes built were balsa, sticks, plywood, and crappy canvas. Just don't turn hard.

  • Did you finish it?

  • i think this plane can fly....whit magic ...but....yea...

  • @cCalebGete And an engine, and an airframe, and instruments, and a radio, and a licence, and a certificate, and training and a throttle and a mixture control AND a seat.

  • alright just need a propeller?

  • Not even a little bit...........

  • I'm not sure about the building materials... there are 2x4's there for the cabanes and spars??? Surely that is too heavy and not strong enough.

  • is she finished

  • nice start

  • if u fly it, you will snap a wing from a stick holding the wings down cuz if u had a screw in it, then replace it with bolts or ur dead for sure.

  • How is it glued? How many matches did you use? Do you already have the puppets that will drive it?

  • Is there any structural tie-in between the lift struts and the wing spars besides that single wing rib? I'm not sure I like that.

  • 3 2 1 LOOK ITS FLYING oh wait lol

  • its nice and all but why didn't you buy a guillows rubber band kit and use the plans for a Thomas Morris scout plane, it much better looking

  • well, space the gears a little farther away from each other, otherwise when landing on that gears, you'll end up 45 degrees

  • wow pretty cool but this was put on 2 years ago so are you done with it now?

  • these people are just kept on cretizing while they were even unable to build even a single part of its flight controls or whatever piece from an airplane if they know the physics of it. just make your own airplane assholes! and post it in youtube so i might be able to see how good is your skills. dont be narrow minded bastards! just make your own. nyahahahahahahaaha

  • All you people are making commits about flying a wooden airplane, but the airplanes that were first built were wooden. The structural strength of wood can be greater than aluminium also wood will flex and not snap like aluminium can under stress. Further more Bernoulli's principle allows the plane to do what all you "fraidy Cats" are bitching about. Physics People! Trust the Math!

  • Convert it to radio control.

    Otherwise you are totally insane.

Unless, that is, you have no descendants, you have a terminal illness, and you want to fly it in to an IRS building...

  • so much wood :)

aluminium is lighter if you whant to fly...

  • @thorleif91 but metal doesnt give a sign when its about to give way and wood can bend also look at the planes in ww1 those biplanes were of wood and canvus(animal skin).

  • hmmm wooden struts and hardware store hinges for attachment points. not sure I would want to fly higher than 3 feet in that one !

  • even you hav regeistered or what ever, it's not an airplane until fly on the air , go head man, otherwise it just an "airplan"....

  • 1 question, why are the wheels tilted sideways? cool plane btw

  • very cool, try and fly it, see if it would work!

  • @hrvatwrestle has too small elerons very dengerous

  • 1/2 Feasible flight will be achieved

  • looks real durable ...

  • FLY IT MAN YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!

  • The landing gear is precious. It is another spruce goose in the making.

  • You can simply turn this thing into boat ,if it will fail to fly.

  • giv her hell wear a shoot

  • P.S. -- People tends to bitch and wine because they simply can't seem to accomplish any fricken thing in their lives; they're being spoonfed way too much by government handouts with welfare and unemployment. Please don't give up on your dreams and creativities like what Barrack Obama's plans for you!!!

  • What is the matter with some of you idiots doggin' this guy for his project---poking fun at his creation?!!! Don't you even realize from the wooden construction that it's built for radio-control purpose...They do build r/c airplanes at that size, you know? I'm hoping to see a future video of this thing airborning so he can get the last laugh!!!

  • its gona suck to land it with no wheels becouse 1 nail isnt gonna quit get it you need atleast 2 lol

  • i think it needs a few more rubber bands and chewing gum b4 u test fly it.

  • i like it, but I seem to think that you need some diagonal reinforcements where the wing attaches to the fuselage. The way it is presented here, I'm afraid that the wing might eventually separate from the fuselage. It might be a good idea to have a certified aircraft inspector visit and offer some suggestions. You have everything to gain by doing so, and nothing to lose.

  • I'm pretending to know about planes here but that looks waaaay too small to be able to carry anyone.

Just comparing to something like a Cessna.

  • @Ashitaka255 your a dummy

  • I hope this is a model that will hang in the rafters in some gallery ......Right?

  • -this bird might never fly, but it is an airplane!

Actually an airplane is a machine that flies through the air. If you build something that does not fly it's not an airplane; it's just a bunch of sticks glued together

  • I pray that a video is posted of this thing flying, just to spite all you defeatists basTARDS.

  • Hey Orville i say follow your dreams . two thumbs up.

  • Looks almost ready to fly!:D

  • This isnt a airplane.. its a flieing tree!

  • "but its an airplane"

No its not is the simple answer

  • @mrdojob You need proper grammar.

  • Please dont try fly this, and if I dont get a response to this ill know why.

  • hahahahahahahha

  • And the point of building a plane that won't fly is????

  • id love to see in turbulence :) bring a parachute

  • structure seems well designed. hopefully it will fly.

  • does it fly?

  • @PoiConcocTion

Come on... really. Are you seriously asking that question?

It's made of HomeDepot grade plywood and dimensional lumber. There is not a single piece of aircraft hardware visible anywhere on this thing. Of course it won't fly. I'm sure he just built it for the fun of doing it.

  • lol ist not because ist made of plywood it wont work lol.. trowit control a engine and a tarp.. it will fly

  • @Cedric....

What is a "trowit control a engine"?

  • trow it some controls, engine. and some tarp ist gona fly:)

  • it will need a motor. prick

  • WOW I CANT BELIEVE THAT HE MADE A PLANE THAT does'nt fly

  • @bingles2k8 i can

  • I guess the guy made it for his kids to play in right ?

  • YE! YE1can pigs realy fly,come on give me a break .

  • I see a slight problem, the rudder, it is a bit short, if you climb to steep you could lose a bit of rudder control. Good luck with the plane and merry chrismas.

  • how much did it cost

  • hehehehehe muinto bom

  • I guess youl be using tissue and dope for the covering, to keep the weight down?

  • How much does that thing weigh?

  • That is the worst thing I've ever seen.

  • all you need now is a propeller or something to make it fly then make a video from the cockpit view.

  • Let's go let's fly--stick this 15 horse power chainsaw engine on it & let's go :D !

  • OK heres the plan. Tie this thing to the back of your car and drive really fast.

  • That's what i'll be doing tomorow with some cheesy plane i duct taped together. Check it out soon.

  • @onlinecuriouse what if he....

    > put alot of baloons on it and motor on the front, and a steering wheel and just drove it liek a car... when he wants down just pop the baloons... hopefully not all at once..

  • where is the engine ??

  • That is just so.. wow! o_0

  • ready for winter!! there is enough fire wood

  • not bad, u may need bigger wheels and alittle suspension that way it dosent jar on takeoff

  • kick it man n see if its still standing then maybe think about getting an engine

  • pietenpiel has plans for a similar airplane that are proven...from the first with the model A engine to current editions.

  • wow. keep working on it. it looks great.

there are some airplanes you can get for only a few thousand dollars i believe.

they are like 3/4 scale size.

  • wow nice you now need a engine

  • can it fly y probley die if you tryed

  • about as likely as when you realized you spelled "tryed" exactly right.

  • plane looks good its coming its coming

  • ha ha is so funny;)

  • Awesome, you might be able to fly it, just don't try to go too high up.

  • landing gear need to change...it will break upon landing.. and also the plane looks way too heavy. goodjob though for working on it

  • Wow Captain obvious. You didn't even think about taking off, i mean it looks like it has trouble just supporting itself while at a stand still. Forget any kind of motion. This plane is just an over-sized unfinished balsa wood model.

  • oh yeah,i would prefer the kohler motor for ease of use and lack of wiring.also its maximum rpm is in the same range of a prop that size (2500-3000rpm)

  • i would assume a v twin 27 or 30hp kohler motor,a 600 cc bike engine permanantly in first or a rotax motor from an ultrlight would get the thing moving

  • It's too heavy!

Anyway it's a amazing design. Congratulations.

  • Please don't try to fly it.....

  • LOL. good advice

  • @skyboy1956 Please do, it will be fun to watch it!!

  • @skyboy1956 yeah...please dont..you will die

  • vw beetle engine mate boxer 4, i think you can run them 1 to one ratio onto a certain sized prop, ive got the info lying around in my draw somewhere, my grand father builds and designs wooden planes similar to this that fly he uses the mentioned engines

  • Nice design, does anyone know the cheepest engine you could use to power a small homebuild airplane?
