  • Neil I met you at the Ponderosa Pub in Ft Lauderdale back in those days and everytime I see or here you now it takes me back to this time when you were with the International Harvesters.

  • I can listen to him all day. Thank you for sharing this.

  • amazing

  • There're rumors about a new unreleased publication. The upcoming album features Neil Young & Crazy Horse with many new songs written during '80. For this the canadian songwritter, actor, musician and cars maker, will work again for Gaffen Records cutting his collaboration with Reprise Warner Bros Records.

  • thanks. enjoyed.

  • What Down By The River performance is he talking about? Does anyone knowledgeable on that tour know which version he might be referring to?

  • there are 2 notable versions of Down By the River by the International Harvesters are either from Austin City Limits, or the soundboard recording from New Orleans both from 1984

  • @jasoncolannino I've heard both of those. The ACL one is under 10 minutes and the New Orleans one is like 15 minutes. I've heard another version, but I can't recall the date. It was 20 minutes and I'm pretty sure Neil's referring to that one, because it's the most insane thing I've ever heard by him...or ridiculous, as he said. :)

  • There is an international work agreement between Canada and the USA. I was with Capitol Publishing under Capitol Records. There is a percentage of artists that have to be Canadian in Canada and also in the US. There were issues with Anne Murray similar to this. She was not immediately accepted into country music because she was not American. It was a different time. Neil's political ideas also did not jive with the average country music audience.

  • which is oprobably why Neil supported reagan in 84

  • Another work of art, I love It! Thank you very much.

  • How in the hell can you get sued for singing your own music? No wonder liability lawsuits are ridiculous in this country. You keep doing what you know best Neil, keep singing the songs! Thank you for sharing and acknowledging the band. Thanks to Joel for the interview! See ya at Farm Aid!!!

  • Great job with the interview Joel. Neil appears pleasantly surprised that you did your research! Great stuff. Love it!

  • Got mine today, love it!!!

  • I remember listening to some of the International Harvesters' concerts on Rust Radio and being blown away. All I could think was that these were some of the greatest musicians that ever lived. I'm glad Neil feels the same way!

Neil was talking about a 20-minute version of "Down By The River" played by these guys. Well I'm not sure if I'd heard the exact one that he's talking about, but it was 20 minutes live from 1984 and it is in my Top 5 favorite pieces of music I've ever heard. BRILLIANT

  • A Treasure is SO awesome! What a fantastic record! Southern Pacific is so good! Grey Riders is mind-blowing! Buy it NOW!

  • great stuff Archives Guy! Go Bruins!!

  • He is so good and so generous with us. Thanks for all Neil, for having showing us the way for all this time...

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for the great video. The black and white photos are just stunning. I had to fight back the tears when Neil started talking about Ben.

I love how Neil always did it his way, especially when others told him not to. I admire him greatly for that, and for so much more.

  • one of these days / I'm gonna sit down and vlog a long vlog / to all the good friends / I've known

  • Neil Young = Musical Genius!

  • Neil Young is my hero
