  • Hey Leafylube I just beat James Dean at Darts, the old buzzard can't see past his nose.

  • Supposedly another famous newscaster said on that night Regan & Lennon were in the sports booth and instead of a huge spat, reagan had is arm around Lennon and was explaining the game to him. If that really was true, how surreal would that be, since otherwise they had been enemies. At least it was known Lennon hated Reagan.

  • That is amazing footage. Thanks for posting it.

  • Press 6

  • I loved that song and admired Paul for writing and performing it. Later on, he used it for its rhetorical power in slamming Paul at the perigee of their friendship. The reference, a pun really, was "The only thing you done was Yesterday / But since you're gone you're just another day" which pointed to his No. 2 hit (No. 1 in the UK), "Another Day" released in 1970. John's cool. So is Paul. I miss the Beatles.

  • Billy Kilmer shot John Lennon.

  • Ahhh...hah...John says "nice to meet you" to Howard. So much for Howard being a good friend of John's .

  • what year? 74?

  • Lennon is still alive! The whole shooting was fake in order to fool everybody. He wanted to go into hiding like Elvis to get privacy. I saw Lennon last year at a Walmart.

  • @leafyutube

    LOL...was he a gracious greeter??

  • @leafyutube well who knows but ur right some famous celebrities tend to do that i was hanging around with jerry garcia from greatful dead in lynwood park like 2 years ago met him by some girl n he faked his death he even gave me his number

  • He could be very gracious when he wanted to be. Seeing vids like this makes me miss him even more.

  • The beatles would have reunited, for sure

  • How ironic that Howard Cosell was the man who first anounced Lennon's death.

  • What a wit Lennon was.

  • john was halllllllllllllllllllllllarious!

  • How to get a green card!

  • Cosell was a cool guy and I remember back then people especially the press use to absolutely hate the guy which I could never understand, and I really think it was due to anti-semitism. Put it this way; someone like Muhammed Ali would have never had anything to do with the guy if he was an SOB, but he did. They loved each other. When Ali was striken with Parkinsons Cosell was absolutely devastated and I think that greatly contributed to his death. That`s how close they were.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain I remember that sentiment too. It also seemed like people didn't like a sports announcer becoming a celebrity too.

  • A commie! You got to be kidding.

  • Well Snotra, too bad you are so ill informed.

  • It would have been nice to have had some sort of reunion. By the late 70's, there were no signs of it. Ringo said on tv in 78 that it would never happen again. Too bad he was right.

  • @Snotra go to hell bitch

    who the hell are you...

oh yeah youre a dumb commie so shut the hell up

  • @Snotra if you dont agree with your politics, they must be a commie.sounds ignorant.

  • Apart from everything else, what a nice chap John was.

  • He seems so relaxed and happy here. It's cheered me up immensely to see him like this.

  • I think Yoko gave John some love and stability...but she also trapped him a bit...in his supposed "lost weeked" he actually seemed more laid back and less tense...not worried about being "political" anymore but just being more concered with making lovely music and sharing peace. R.I.P JOHN

  • Greatest POET & MUSICIAN of last century....

  • thats awesome! hes just so genuin. love the man so much.

  • Hahaha John really did have a great attitude towards things...God bless him...

  • "I promised him (Ringo) I'd mention hhis album, which is out now, and I wouldn't mention my own which is out now too!"

    :D hahaha

  • He is so CUTE!!!

  • Tremendous interview. He was so happy and content. And such a great attitude. just being himself. He never left us.

  • MAN I LOVE JOHN

  • to bad they cant reunited like he said in 1:21

  • Fantastic!!! @Derby14, Totally agree with you! Imagine John Lennon and Bob Marley ruling the world!!! R.I.P.

  • This is very cool. He appeared to be enjoying himself and had just an all around great attitude. The last 30 years would have been so much better if he was still around.

  • He is still around , but hard to see.

  • @silverbird58 thats a good way of putting it

  • That's John on his PR campaign to have his stay in the U.S. approved. You can tell he's not being himself much. He's choosing his words too carefully and being too politically correct in that football interview. If he was being himself, he wouldn't have been at that game and said football was actually quite boring to watch!

  • December 9,1974...

  • God, I miss this cat, and I never even met him. He died before my time, damn, what an unfortunate loss, man.

  • haha .. "who's the gipper? bye bye!"

John is the greatest ... just like the Beatles!

  • Actually John has a dream of becoming a soccer player according to Pete Best..

  • Wednesday morning at five o`clock..

  • FRY CHAPMAN.

  • Burn Chapman in the stake!!!!

  • Very nice to see John out , and not under the influence of Yoko, at least for a few minutes.

  • Yeah, he seems very relaxed here. He even looks more like Beatle John here with a fuller face and not all gaunt and sickly like he was towards the end.

  • @Nefarioso YES. I agree..

  • Not rare if its on youtube

  • I'm surprised I haven't seen this before, being the classic rock junkie I be, so this is kinda very rare for me, anyway.

  • How cheerful he was here, just being himself.

  • Anybody know the date of this clip?

  • 1974

  • I loved John in this period, he was letting go of the bad vibes the beatles split had left him with and was a Beatles fan himself, great! The greatest rock star there has ever been.

  • He kinda looks like Geddy Lee at the beginning

  • love john

  • Anyone notice how much John sounds like Groucho Marx in that interview?

  • The man was so fucking cool. Down to earth and just so charismatic and funny.

  • This is the coolest thing ever John Lennon watched a Redskins game!!!!

  • Imagine if Cosell got the scoop on live TV that there will be a Beatles reunion and it happened.Imagine if crazy jerk Chapman never killed John and he was still with us today along with George Harrison.

  • this is a very classic video. And Howard trying to get a scoop on a Beatles reunion?Wow!

  • I remember when Walls And Bridges came out -wonderful under-rated record. I lived in Brooklyn and sometime after this interview my whole high school class knew that if you wanted to John all you had to do was hang outside the Dakota and sveral kids did and all came back with a mix of stories, some good where he was friendly and some where they took advantage and he had to run them off. He was so part of NYC- shuldda had a bodyguard- surpised he did not know hoe hugely popolar he was...

  • i miss john, i love his character!

    1:33-1:37 lol

  • miss ya john

  • I have loveed John Lennon from 1977, john was always trying to be happy. R I P my hero. xxxx

  • i'm sorry folks, but i've tried to work out how many nano seconds between when this vid happened and that geezer 'sean' being born but i appear to have no access to an atomic clock!

  • nice to see john happy

  • This is from December 9,1974 in LA.

  • then a month later (January 1975) John and Yoko had great sex after that BOOM!! that is how Sean was conceived....

  • thanks for the visual......YUK!

  • Does anybody else remember when a guy hacked into the broadcast signal of MNF somehow and started calling Howard Cosell names like "ugly jew" on live t.v.? What year was that? Would love to see that on Youtube.

  • I love that man!

    LOL!

    Peace&Love!

  • love this. sometimes he seems so loveable - then you remember julian

  • yea..i feel soooooooooo sorry 4 him.i found out from my mommy.i luv john and all but that ticked me off bad.

  • I love how he speaks so positively about The Beatles here, seemingly proud of having heard a song by the band before the football game and then later in that talk show of the fact that all the ex-members were having success in the charts. "Never say never." Oh, god, it aches to hear him say that...

  • another jaffee painting 2004- 05

  • As much as I really love Yoko (big fan of hers as far as John goes!), it was oddly nice to see him doing stuff without her here.

  • His loss is on par with Abraham Lincoln. What if...?

  • A dose of John is just what the doctor ordered!

  • he's whatever gets me thru the night...

  • Wow!!! I miss John now more than ever!

    Praying For Peace!

    ~Mimi

  • The world is and will always be a much sadder place without John Lennon.

  • His murder left a black space in the world that never should have been! A vacumm nobody can fill.

  • Gone is the gardener that cared a lot according to Elton John!

  • I always enjoyed John's humor and wit. We can honor John by turning people on to his music...not only as a Beatle, but, after he was a Beatle. His songs cover ..."everybody."

  • John was a great communicator. Only he could talk sports that I can understand!

  • How sad that 6 years later, Howard Cosell would be the first person to publically announce John's death. R.I.P., John. Thanks for posting.

  • he should still be here, the worlds quite a bit boring without him around.

  • Thanks for sharing.

    John's awesome.

  • December 9,1974....L.A.

  • that is a year before Sean was born

  • well sean was born on October 9, 1975 so this was 8 months and like 30 days before sean was born
