What release is this? I've tried following the setup you provide but the options are different. You have less starting points to use on skills/objects, and the objects themselves are different in some cases.

@morbid915 Your area probably doesn't have access to iron, so you can't take an iron anvil. You have two options: take a steel anvil, or generate a new world where metals aren't as rare.

@lovekristie If you have not found the answer yet it is because 1. He needed points to get items, 2. You can train your dwarves to do anything in the game even if you didn't put points into it in the beginning. So with that spending all of the points is unnecessary

In order to add skills or anything I need to press the + - on my number pad. Problem: I have a Mac and I don't have a number pad. There IS a mac version of this game, so it should work somehow, I'm just not sure how... This is an immense game and it's intimidating enough without secret keys I need to find and press.

@AngryPirateProd good news press escape and key bind the + and - signs instead to (shift and - and shift and +) this will fix it. You will have to press shift to add or remove but its better than not being able to at all :)

@metaleater9 you need to remap the +- keys... press escape and go to configure keys or something and you should be able to map +- to something else. I had to do that on my keyboard to get anything done at all. try just pressing the +- keys while remapping them, and see if they show up as something else.

For some reason you are forced to use the numpad. If you have a USB keyboard, it should be no problem. Otherwise, you will have to use the Function ("fn") button and use the keypad that way. If you dont know where those keys are, try googling it.
