  • I was thinking about buying this for my 1st car, how good is this car? the most i would travel a week is probably 10-15 miles

  • I love my 4wd '04 4.6 V8 XLT! It's brought both my babies home from the hospital in bad CT and MD weather, taken our family from Canada to South Carolina, given me tons of fun doing donuts in snowy parking lots, moved furniture, served as a overnight bedroom when no hotels were available in Cape May one night & is only on its 3rd set of tires. Took good care of it so never had any major problems. I'll never get rid of it! 128,000 miles and still runs like new! Snow duty only for 2012

  • @wpjaxon I just hit 180,000 on my 02

  • true V8. the gas tanks on empty lol

  • I was hoping one of you guys could help me out, I currently have a 97 eddie bauer with the 4.0L SOHC and was looking at getting a 2002 with the 4.6 but after reading these comments I am now unsure, I don't take it offroad, I bought it for its size as I have 2 large dogs. But I hear nothing but bad talk of the 4.0 SOHC and how its really unreliable and I am already hearing the engine ticking whilst accelerating and I have only had it a short time and the live rear axle makes for a very bouncy

  • @BLOEDVLEK ride and so I wanted to upgrade to this and I also wanted a V8 as they are usually more reliable and easier to maintain and I wanted the extra power....

  • @BLOEDVLEK Dude there is not need to be unsure these ford explores are great vehical's it all depends on the owner of the suv and how well you take care of it, honestly before purchasing the suv take it to a private mechanic and have them check it out for you and clean up all the bugs and trust me it will be just fine ford is built tuff and these explores can last up to 300,00 miles, check out mine on my channel it's the same as this one it's just red.

  • the engine on the 2002-2005 (up to 2006 in the Philippines) Ford Explorer

    Engine

    4.0 L Cologne V6

    4.6 L 16-valve Modular V8

  • Worst car ever. I have a 2002 explorer with a blown engine with only 120,000 miles. Serviced on the regular. Had no warning just started shaking at a red light then when I pushed the gas boom. hello knock.

  • @MrsH731 dude that sucks I just got a 2002 ford explore for my first car but mine is in great shape, any other things I should be worried about?

  • @xboxlivelover23 Sorry I wrote this on my wifes account, but yeah thats the first major problem. Turned out the worst problem, but other than that I replaced rear springs/shocks, FRONT WHEEL barrings are a problem. Replaced them several times, but I am a very rough driver. Its a truck I drove it like one.

  • @MrsH731 Damn. That sucks

  • thats one thing i love about this car, the speakers!

  • @itsinthebloodvocals Haha yeaah badass

  • 1st and 2nd gen. explorers were the best. They turned into soccer mom cars with the 3rd gen, but they were still alright. The 4th gen just sucks ass (FWD with no V8 option... lame).

  • the transmission on the 2002-2005 (up to 2006 in the Philippines) Ford Explorer

    Transmission

    5-speed M5OD-R1HD manual

    5-speed 5R55W automatic

    5-speed 5R55S automatic

  • kyle you are the master of the cars because i love cars too

  • We've got one of these, but it's a 2006 Eddie Bauer with the 4WD, sunroof, CD changer, and PowerFold 3rd row. They're really durable, but pack way too many miles and way too much abuse on 'em in a short time (we're pushing 200K), and you'll have failures like no one's business.

It's on its 4th radiator, 2nd head gasket, 2nd rear axle, and 2nd front end (due to a wreck) ... and the tranny is pretty much dead. But the interior is still as fresh as day one.

Even though it's this far off, it's st

  • LOL Buying this exact car but black with 3rd row of seats for $3000 from my dad! FIRST CAR! Only problem is the transmission, which has been fixed once and slips a bit. Mine only has 108000 miles on it!

  • How can you ppl actually glorify this vehicle? This vehicle has the worst transmission ever built EVER amongst any suv or even car.I wish for the ones who don't know to puchase this vehicle and drive it around and see whats upin the future when the tranny begins to slip & automatically just give up on any given day.Ford makes good vehicles but the 2002-2006 ford explorers are junk.

  • I want our 04 Explorer back now

  • My mom has a 2006 chevy trailblazer that shes had since 05 & the first month she bought it someone hit it while it was parked, her insurance company payed for everything & she had to get a rental, she picked this exact model, same color and everything, i fell in love with that truck! Then 3 weeks later she had to give it back :(

  • vw

  • i see they have the K&N Air filter... i just one in my 2002 moutaineer..

  • I would rather have the Jeep next to it.

  • '

    oh noo thank,,,

what is wrong with this explorer 2002,,,

how come this explorer do not have 2 amber yellow lights on the rear and wrong gas in hole on right passage side

  • We have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer with the 4.0 V6. I love it! It is nice. But it would be cooler with the V8 in it :)

  • One GOOD thing about this car (I just put mine to rest today) is that it had a STELLAR stereo!

  • @MichelleRocksOut did you have the system with the subwoofer?

  • @yellowcow13 Nope, it was standard, but it was the most impressive standard stereo in any car I've ever been in/driven.

  • man your videos sure have changed. you've gotten a lot better at these videos

  • My fave Gen Explorer.

This is coming from a GM guy.

I would own one of these if given the opportunity.

I knew someone who had a 02 Eddie Bauer one real sharp.

    No sunroof tho :(

And it was a dark green. :(

    Nice beige interior.

But sitting in the back made my neck hurt because of stupid ass small head rests lol.

  • The Explorer is a fantastic car. My mom is on her third.

  • Was that Peter Griffin in his penis car at 3:28?

  • does this have 3rd row seating?

  • @Swift616

    nope it doesnt

  • @PallySequis dude thats pretty messed up to say something like that...

  • eeee la temperatura del motor en lo rojo y apartas la camara jajajjajaaa

  • Beep Beep !

  • that's in really good shape for an '02

  • Country was always in style. At least I think so.

  • The music I think ruined the video. Can't go wrong with country!!

  • @Bellic8345 that's the keyless unlock feature. if you leave your keys inside, you can punch in the code and the car unlocks and there your inside.

  • what do the numbers on the driver's side door mean?

  • @Bellic8345 on the side on the pillar? thats for the code thing to unlock it

this one may have mem seats if your talking about the 1 and 2 which i didnt see nor was really looking for.

  • i'd like to c the new 2010 ford expedition so everybody will stop talking about GM's trucks.

  • the exterior looks like the basic model, 4WD?. I personally like the autotrac 4 wheel drive, it's good for icy conditions.

  • shit my o3 ford explorer has 108,000 too much!!!!!

  • i like the explorers ControlTrac system. So good for winter.

  • Comment removed

  • My moms 03 XLT is a little over 75000 miles. we are talking about getting a new explorer.

  • is that the audophile stero with the sub

  • i have a 2005 explorer ltd it cost 60000 brand new and it is my fav car!! my other vehicle is a BMW 330Ci

  • Woah!!!! Sixty grand? Why so much?

  • it was so expensive because i live in canada and basically it is 20000$ here then it is in the states. in the US it is only 40000 for the base with out any upgrades... I had mine fully upgraded and the starting price of the explorer ltd here in canada is starting at 49,900 $ plus any upgrades; indash nav, dual head rest dvd entertainment with wireless speakers , upgraded sound system, iPod Integration and other upgrades =60k

for the Xlt here in canada it costs about 37000 and 40000 after taxes

  • Jezzz that sucks! Their super cheap here. My brother got an 05' for nine thousand

  • wow!! I was talking about when i bought mine back in 05 lol now it is probably only worth about 18000

  • @Crazychicken224 there only 28k in the US base price.

  • @NitroGadvRules The Price for the "New Explorer" 2012( if it can still be considered an explorer.....) has dropped drastically in Canada, it now starts base 30K, but then again when you add freight and taxes on in Canada (Tax in Ontario is 13%) it adds a good amount to the price .... we get ripped off ....

  • i was gonna say, you can probly get a 2005 explorer now for about $6,000!

  • Hahaha I Know! Sixty seems so unrealistic! You could get a nice H2 or something for that price with cash left over! Lol

  • I'll admit, FULLY loaded...an Explorer can top $40,000

  • True. The new limiteds and eddie bauers are not to cheap sometimes.

  • @talldude123 more than that :-p , trust me i know

  • @kelly2diz ltd = limited

  • Nice and clean.

  • love the 2001-2005 explorers and expys this is one clean truck come clean my car now lol thats a really nice truck and all the suv enyone really needs

anyway nice vid ! u detail real nice

  • Hey, what are those things on the side of the door?

  • keyless entry. if you don't have the remote on hand, you can set a code into the system and punch it in to unlock the doors.

  • ohh nice, thanks.

  • how much it cost??? keep it, i love this truck...

  • 100.3 the buzzarddddddddd

  • Great video as always! One of my friends in MI has a '98 with well over 100K on it...and he likes it.

i bet 350ci in that beast!

  • and the number one video in the world goes too... saabkle04 and his 2002 Ford Explorer V8 Start Up, Engine, and Full Tour, video!!!

  • nice rig!

  • She must be reall easy on gas.

  • Probably not, but a real powerhouse at least! You don't buy an SUV worrying about gas.

  • i was being sarcastic lol, there a pig on gas :P but you have a point.

  • Comment removed

  • 2002 is the worst year for explorer transmissions, but the v8 might have a different transmission hooked up to it

  • I love the explorers. i love all fords!!
