i had a little 2.8 i ran to death i had it when i just trun 16 in a s10 i drove it hard i finally snap the crank in it put a 1.9 isuzu 4banger with a crack head and fill it full of stop leak and trade it in lol still got the 5 speed trans out of it the isuzu came with a 4 speed 2.8 is a good running engine i had over a 100k no mine when the bottom end fell out
@dacap Here's a question, since I have a 1985 Chevy Astro with a 4.3 V6 that has a carbuerator...would it be possible for me to put a newer 4.3 in it, and switch it to a fuel-injected gas delivery system?
if you went threw the troble of rebuilding that 1982 - 1985 engine you should have just got a 1986 or newer there much better engines biger mains electronic fuel pump biger valves internaly balanced engine and you can make them into 3.1L or 3.4L
we have one 84 s10 pickup (white one in the video) the red one was wrecked and we scraped it
its no longer with us..
we also got an s15 awhile back that we are still working on (lack of time) it is white too same setup 2.8 v6 also have an 87 s10 blazer same 2.8ltr v6 and this is just my crap... my dads stuff is older and bigger and badder (of course) I will have to get some video of his stuff on here I guess. or have him do it yeah!
1984 was the first year for Hydraulic Clutches in the s10s. Personally I would keep the mechanical. They are a lot easier to maintain, and no hassle with bleeding.
The 2.8 was a slap in the face from chevy. They threw it together to have a small v6 to put in the trucks and mid-sized cars. They arn't a good motor.
I am assuming your opinion stems from your mechanical skills and I think that any motor laking the care and maintenance they need wouldn't last much over 100k if that.
this s10 (in the video) still runs like
a champ and hauls drywall and tools every day.
its like your saying blue is crap because it isn't green?
We just got done finishing up annother 2.8LTR just like this and it spun a bearing already.. I have some footage of it but its not as cool for some reason.
beautiful s10s !!

Thompsongs 11 months ago
@Thompsongs Yes it is possible, you can buy a fuel pump and hook it to your ignition easy
I have done this to my moms s15 pickup as the 2.8 that was in it was taken from a fuel injected camaro that did
not have a manual pump placement.

zeronthedark 4 years ago
It says S10 right there on the side of the pickup.
dacap 4 years ago
nope when I got it (used) it had the hydraulic clutch already in it
dacap 4 years ago
It is a 2.8 v6 still runs great
dacap 4 years ago
hey did your 84 havea mechanical clutch? mine did, I'm swapping it out to a hydraulic as I'm putting the new 2.8l in it.

freakkk6sic6 4 years ago
I hated adjusting the manual clutch, I'd rather just make sure the fluid in the hydraulic was full
dacap 4 years ago
2.8l a real jewel, turning off the a/c while driving is like adding 2 cylinders, garage looks like mine-without the tunes

The 2.8 was a slap in the face from chevy. They threw it together to have a small v6 to put in the trucks and mid-sized cars. They arn't a good motor.
freakkk6sic6 4 years ago
blah blah blah what are you saying exactly?
dacap 4 years ago
I'm saying that the 2.8 is a piece of crap motor.
freakkk6sic6 4 years ago
dont get me wrong I have 2 of them, but from the factory they just suck. they may seem to have power, but after about 100K they go down the toilet.
