i have never seen a player with the ability to turn like he had , control was second to none the injury to his knee changed him, was never as fast or couldent turn like he used to, would have been one of the best players in ragers history if things had been diffrent , he destroyed munich that nite
Still can't believe this guy wasn't snapped up by a big club until the age of 29. Never seen a player turn defenders inside out the way Mols did before his knee got wrecked.
Seen Mols play for Utrecht for years; one of the best strikers of his generation, technically great, great vision and teamplay, very good finishing but not selfish enough. Reminded me a lot of Dennis Bergkamp.
Mols was technically superior to Larsson by the way.
what a legend! i hate oliver khan because he stopped Mols becoming the best player to ever come into scotland! still a hero even though wat that german pr**k di to him!

one of the best players ive ever had the privelage of watching, shame it only lasted a matter of months. Not quite the same after his injury, but a very skillful player with ridiculous ball control
It's crazy how good he was he and Larsson were equals unforutantely the two injuries they got Larsson made a full recovery, Mols didn't. Forever Rangers though, legend.
@kissthetraitor In terms of skill Mols was far superior to Larsson and if he kept up his goal per game ratio from before his injury he would have been even better than Larsson. Unfortunately we will never know.
The night he got injured he tore Bayern apart himself and i remember the English commentator asking..where the hell has this guy came from...stunning player..
One of my favorite players ever is Michael Mols and Rangers FC is one of favorite clubs... Thank you Mols for everything!!! You'll be in our hearts...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sorry, but Mols is NEVER a Rangers legend, he's a bit-part player, a footnote, nothing more. He had some skills, some nice turns, but he didn't do nearly enough to be called a legend. That's just silly. Great video though.
theres not one gers fan who didnt like mols, such a talent...would have retired with gers as a legend if he hadnt been injured by kahn, he wasnt the same player after that...great player
yeah....i remember that match, he was really in form when that happened too. Kahn was a great player but I always hated him for that clumsy challenge..........cut Mols down in his prime.
Mols never broke his leg he snapped and streched ligaments in his knee which is far worse for a footballer to suffer, look how many times cisse has came back from broken legs.
Larsson was one of the best ever in Scotland but the records before the two got injured clearly show Mols was a far greater player, though he might not have went onto be as good as Larsson.
Anyway Gazza and Laudrup are the only players in recent times to have been world class and played in scotland at their best.
@JoshHoustonNo1 well...no. Laudrup was better, and so was Gascoigne for that matter. McCoist was a better goalscorer too if your pushing for the argument.
@madstanwan larrson scored more goals on the european stage in seven years at celtic than mcoist did in his whole career mate. look it up. and as for the laudrup argument count the european medals runner up and winners that should answer it. a mean lets be honest unless its chris boyd or jelavic scoring against aberdeen and st johnstone than the rest of the league is pish int in ?
@TheMrHonesty Larsson scored more goals in European competition because European competition was only reserved for CHAMPIONS when McCoist played. Are you honestly that thick to compare that?
Laudrup won a european cup medal against -FAR- better and -FAR- harder teams with Milan. He's also part of Pele's bes 100, not to mention being nominated (by stat and opinion) "the best foreigner in Scotland".
90% of Larssons goals came against SPL teams, the comparssion is is the same, point caller?
@TheMrHonesty McCoist played in an era when teams didn't go into the UEFA cup if they were knocked out of the Champions league/European cup. And lets face it the vast majority of Larsson's european goals were in the Uefa cup. As for your Laudrup argument, He won the european cup with Milan, the European super cup with Chelsea and Euro 1992 with Denmark, after which he came 5th in the world player of the year poll.
@bournestwin your trippin mate mc coist and laudrup couldny kick their arses against european competion fur rangaers get a grip m8, and as fur laudrup bein better than larsson hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
@MrJoe1888cfc Take off the green tinted specs, Larsson was a great goalscorer when he was in teams with great service to him but nowhere near laudrup in terms of all round ability a quick watch of a Laudrup video is all you need to tell you that, or looking at the Fifa 100 list of the greatest living players.
@madstanwan Sums up your argument that you have to justify Laudrap by comparing him to Larsson. Never would you hear a Celtic fan having to compare Henke to anyone, we all know he's the best ever.
@madstanwan What goalscoring charts would you be talking about? The ones that ignore Larsson's first season at Celtic? Over such a period of time name me a player with a better goals to game ratio than Larsson. Baring in mind goals were only half of his game. Laudrup wasn't even the best player in his family, christ.
@andymacceltic Only half his game, the other half was diving and bottling penalty kicks. Laudrup may arguably not have been the best in his family but both laudrup brothers were still good enough to make the FIFA 100 list of the greatest living footballers, unlike a certain ugly swede.
@hatespc I was more referencing the fact he has over 100 assists to his name, in just 315 appearances. There's no better goalscorer or creator in Scottish football history than Henrik Larsson. Laudrap, as great as he was, only had one of those two attributes.
@andymacceltic Well I would certainly dispute your claim that Larsson was a greater creator than Laudrup who created just about all of Rangers goals when he played and he scored his fair share of goals himself, lets not forget, but were both biased I suppose.
The all time goalscoring charts for the league your team currently contests It would also include goals in every national competition currently in contention and not expired.
Larsson was a poacher who also had good balance and could wave in and out of tackles Laudrip for a winger was a box to box predator with dribbling finishing creativity strength He hd mr assets 2 a team thn larsson and fr a wgr was alst the greatest winger this country had been blessed with with the exclusion of Jinky
"Good save Gordon Marshall, The danger might not be over though because... Micheal mols.. Has scored..... Again.." miss that team, we were fuckin unstoppable!
I think if he was given 1 more season at Rangers he'd be on his back, you could see when he came back he couldn't twist and turn the way he used to be back progressingly despite his sitters, was getting back into his pride
i dont care what anybody says especially celtic fans if this guy didnae break his leg he would make larsson look like sebo this guy was a machine and i still believe if he didnae break his leg against bayern we could have won the champions league
His knee got fucked up against Bayern. I wish it was a leg break he probably would have made a full recovery. Totally agree he made Larsson look ordinary before the injury and would have been up there with Laudrup and Gascoigne otherwise.
Larsson also broke his leg but in 2 places, he came back a better player.
Mols also broke his leg when he was 29, the age when most players are in their prime/leaving their prime so he wouldn't have got much better most likely.
Mols, DeBoer, Klos, Van Bronckhorst, Gattuso, Moore, Amoruso, Amato, Reyna, Tugay, Wallace, Niemi,Kanchelskis, Albertz,Ricksen, Ferguson, Numan....Do I need to continue? Easily the best Squad in my lifetime was under Dick Advocaat. Also guys like Tore Andre Flo. Alot of great goals and only branded a flop because of the money we paid!
Niguez, Broadfoot, Kenny Miller? I want to go back a decade! Still- We are the Champions! WATP.
As i recall they went for a 50/50 ball and Mols sportingly jumped over khan and landed awkwardly knackering his knee. He should have went straight through the kraut prick! Still a legend!!!!!!!!!
Superb player and a superb guy always smiled even when he was out injured but it was brilliant when he came back and helped us get our 50th League Title that day scoring against the pars, Mikey your a legend.
michael mols playing at feyenoord now porbaly the last couple of years before he quits great player helped us getting a round futher thru the Amstel cup
It's a shame they allow people like Kahn to play football. They only cripple great players like Mols and prevent us from watching them a little longer. They should do something about players like those!!
I remember I watched this incident live on TV and it had nothing to do with tackles. He deliberately crippled a great player who just humiliated him.
When one incident puts an end to the career of such promising player, then it can be the highlight of 20 years of professional football. Mols' career was summed up by this incident. You can be right that this is the only player who Kahn crippled, but Kahn is known for being tough to the point of violence.
Successfull stars should be models, and 1 incident can cost you, at least, a fan, IMHO. I used to like Kahn prior to this incident, and now that's what I think of him.
Well first of all, I still can't find a video of this incident. Do you know if there is one available? I take it Kahn was sent off for it? I couldn't find any mention of his being sent off afterwards.
No video, but I found two pictures when I search for "Kahn Mols" on Google images that describe the incident
As a short description, Mols was one on one with Kahn. Kahn went to meet him way out of the box, Mols passed to & Kahn forced himself between Mols' legs (ironic) and hit his full body weight against his knee
Kahn was only cautioned and everybody booed that not just because of the harshness of the tackle, but also because it was a 100% goal should Mols have passed.
he's the best forward ive ever seen , could beat men easy , had a burst of pace and was a finisher from all ranges , quality !.....unlike boyd who stands in the box wanting it on a plate!!!!!
i have never seen a player with the ability to turn like he had , control was second to none the injury to his knee changed him, was never as fast or couldent turn like he used to, would have been one of the best players in ragers history if things had been diffrent , he destroyed munich that nite

It's a shame they allow people like Kahn to play football. They only cripple great players like Mols and prevent us from watching them a little longer. They should do something about players like those!!
I remember I watched this incident live on TV and it had nothing to do with tackles. He deliberately crippled a great player who just humiliated him.
I'm just sad for such a great player :(

shoot the fucker in the head, kahn deserves it

"They only cripple great players like Mols and prevent us from watching them a little longer."
Who else has he 'crippled'? Twenty years of professional football can't exactly be summed up by one incident, can it?
Chameleon41 3 years ago
When one incident puts an end to the career of such promising player, then it can be the highlight of 20 years of professional football. Mols' career was summed up by this incident. You can be right that this is the only player who Kahn crippled, but Kahn is known for being tough to the point of violence.
Successfull stars should be models, and 1 incident can cost you, at least, a fan, IMHO. I used to like Kahn prior to this incident, and now that's what I think of him.
mmahdy 3 years ago
Well first of all, I still can't find a video of this incident. Do you know if there is one available? I take it Kahn was sent off for it? I couldn't find any mention of his being sent off afterwards.
Chameleon41 3 years ago
No video, but I found two pictures when I search for "Kahn Mols" on Google images that describe the incident
As a short description, Mols was one on one with Kahn. Kahn went to meet him way out of the box, Mols passed to & Kahn forced himself between Mols' legs (ironic) and hit his full body weight against his knee
Kahn was only cautioned and everybody booed that not just because of the harshness of the tackle, but also because it was a 100% goal should Mols have passed.
mmahdy 3 years ago
he's the best forward ive ever seen , could beat men easy , had a burst of pace and was a finisher from all ranges , quality !.....unlike boyd who stands in the box wanting it on a plate!!!!!

Mols went through a horrible injury during his carreer.
If he never got it, then he would no doubt been a proper legend.
We all loved him during his time here.
