It does have a lot of holes in it already doesn't it? It certainly would be nicer if they had a valve for it though, cleaning it with a cloth sounds like a good way of making a gross cloth lol I'll stick with my spit valve brass instrument.

@Hackerette Sooo you just let your spit build up inside the thing? Cause that's fucking gross. True the build up isn't nearly as bad as brass instruments due to the mouthpiece but you still get spit in there that needs to be drained once in a while.

@nayls9 Yes spit builds up-you use a cleaning cloth after you play it's not a brass instrument and it doesn't even have a spit valve. Maybe if you ever played one you'd know just how wrong you are.

@Hackerette Remember, some bari saxes have spit valves. Really help though with saxes like the alto, they empty most of their spit through a) cleaning/drying (like you said) and b) water leaking out of the holes/bell.

@bradjoe96 Based on the pitch/sound and size of the sax in this particular video I had assumed it was a tenor...Bari's are much larger.

@nayls9 Remember it's not really spit because you're not really spitting into the instrument, except sometimes on brass instruments, due to buzzing. However, for something like a saxophone, when you blow into it, even a brass instrument, what do you exhale? Carbon dioxide and water. So basically it's water and really, it's not all that disgusting.

True, saliva is 98% water, but rarely is one's mouth in such a clean state, and the inside of a brass instrument even less so. Now Hackerette, I admit the wrongness of my original comment. The combination of the video and my clearly limited memory of the saxophone anatomy led me to make a mistake.
