  • There should be a limitation that nobody regardless of sexual preference should be able to give blood, whose had unprotected sex in the last eight months...

  • Correct me if I'm wrong here but as the AIDS adverts mentioned in the song are from the 80s and this is quite a recent song, within the last year I think, wouldn't it be "30 years ago", not 20? I've listened to this song about 20 times and that only just dawned on me! lol

  • @ghostmadlittlemiss this song comes from 2008, so "twenty years ago" does just reach back into the 1980s.

  • As a blood donor, I too am shocked that gay men aren't allowed to give blood.

    It's not homosexuality that spreads AIDS, it's promuscuity. End of story.

    It's just unfortunate that the highest profile death from AIDS was Freddie Mercury. Suppose instead someone like Mick Jagger had caught it and died from it - would the same climate of homophobia exist? Probably not.

  • Why not just ban people from giving blood if they regularly sleep around? Much fairer and safer.

  • limitation that they can't have had unprotected sex within 8 months before giving blood. I should also point out for the record any-one whos been to Africa can't give blood for atleast 8 months after the trip just to add context, and I believe I heard any-one who had used IV drugs in 2 years or something before giving blood couldn't donate. It might seem over cautious but in the end its Risk vs Cost and gain.

    Aids can take up to 6 months to show up

    Anal apparently carries more risk of passing on Aids due to the possibility of ripping or damage now yes condoms do remove the risk however the risk is still higher that if the condom does break that the Aids virus can be passed on. I'm not saying gay guys shouldn't be able to give blood however I am saying that maybe a..........
