Hey man look at it this way...if the shit hits the fan and a global food crisis ensues guys like us have the initial advantage ...like camels in the desert we will outlive the skinny pricks with 2-3% body fat.
Honestly mate. I used to have some of the feelings u describe. A change in diet makes a huge change to many aspects of your life. You can feel better, look better, alleviate depression. Please consider vegetarianism or veganism. You would be amazed how much better it makes you feel. You can eat loads of vegan food, but as it doesn't have the saturated fat you will see results very soon. I know I'll get some idiotic comments for saying that but it's true. I'm sure things will work out 4 u.
just a piece of advice.. just go to another city where you wont have your parents or your best friends.. if you are not rich, you will have to try to live on more basic stuff so automatically you ll loose weight. try that it has worked for many of my friends and it had a positive impact on me.
Depression> eating disorder >depression> eating disorder > depression> ... it's a viscious cycle that's hard to break, but it can be done. Don't give up on yourself. Please! Know that you have people here on the stupid internet who do care - for you as a human being - as someone who has value. I get depressed too, but then I see people like HappyCabbie make huge strides and I'm insipred to try harder. You're not a failure - you're a human being who has value.
I sugest you check out GrahamAndFriends shows that being fat is not the end of the World, Subscribe even speak to him, his a down to earth guy who knows life has not delt him the best hand but you just gotta play the hand you got.
For every Asswhole who mocks people, dont forget there are others who actually look at other peoples feelings and dont just give a crap about themselves.
All the best i am sure many out there will try and help you out, lifes hard mate, its friends that will help!
You have more courage than anybody I've ever met just by posting this. Kudos to you, mate, and I really wish I could sincerely hug you so that you would want to keep on pushing on.
I really feel for you....I'm overweight for the first time in my life and its HARD...eating food causes a small rush of endorphins so it is comparable to opiate addiction....of course the good news is that exercise can gve you a better rush of endorphins AND can help you lose weight...have you found a form of exercise that you really love? for me it was salsa - I was sooo fit dancin 4 times a week in a party atmosphere but there are no clubs where i live now so im off to the gym next month.cont
@ezmereldagreen A lovely lovely friend of mine committed suicide over a year ago and the ripples are still being felt throughout her family and friends - we are all DEVASTATED..horrible,and I so wish I could have done something. She must've thought no one would care that much but the opposite is true...you are well loved and things can and will change. Don't count all this as a failure....these experiences have helped you gain information about yourself - you know what doesnt work for you. cont
@ezmereldagreen as a man you can forget about being slender and concentrate on building muscle....the more muscle you build the more fat you burn...try concertrating on this and just eating good food...head down and get on with it ....it takes time...youre such a handsome guy!!! lots of love and I wish I could say something that makes it all better!!!
Very honest and brave video mate,we all get down from time to time, you just have to be strong and believe in yourself, your only 32 years old, life is just beginning, forget about what you have failed to do in the past, and focus on what you are going to do in the future, good luck dude!
(3) Right now it seems like you're fighting a moral war, a war you probably won't win. Once you can look at the problem the same way a mechanic looks at the disabled car of a stranger (emotions aside, just objective analyzing) your probability of success will skyrocket. A mechanic that judges a car as sinful, in need of penitance is batshit-crazy unemployed; the psychological mechanisms inherent in social animals don't kick in and fuck up the whole works.
(2) My battle with weight is not a moral fight anymore; it's biological. I'm far more likely to identify real causes that lead me to real solutions. When it's a "moral" battle, the fight is often sabotaged by guilt & shame despite not having power over genetics. I've lost some because of dropping the burden of self-hatred. Failure resulted from enacting ineffective strategies. THAT'S ALL!!! Drop the guilt that's hijacking your neocortex so it can function, develop + enact new strategies.
(1)Ever since I started learning about biological evolution, I've been amazed at what a difference knowledge about our 200 million+ heritage has made in my outlook & even my life. Example: If you & I were born over 100,000 years ago, we'd be more likely to survive starvation than many other humans. This trait, this drive to consume as much fats & starch as possible, is one of countless factors that made us (& many other animal species) possible.
The most important step in solving a problem is recognizing that there is a problem, which you've done as evident by this video. This puts you ahead of a lot of people. Most important thing regarding weight control is control your caloric intake. Compare how kcal/100g your food has and only choose food with the lowest number, which still fills you (don't lose sight of nutrients/vitamins tho). A normal male adult will require ~2300kcal daily. (cont)
(cont'd) Distribute that over however many kilos you feel you require over the day to feel comfortable. If you're good with 1kg then that adds up to 230kcal/100g for your food of choice. 115kcal/100g if you want to go with 2kg of food, etc. My food usually has between 50-200kcal/100g. Sweets often times have 300-500, but there are sweets with only 80kcal/100g. After that, remember that carbohydrates are digested into sugar (they are long sugar chains, so is starch). (cont)
(cont'd) Exercise isn't required to lose weight & requires a lot more determination to keep going than just observing kcal/100g amount of ur food. It will keep your system fit though. If u move very little you'll burn less than 2300kcal/day. Kcal/100g labeling is the single most helpful thing for me to not put on weight (draw satisfaction from choosing low over higher kcal food). 2nd is avoiding high CH/sugar where possible, though crop based food will always be high in CH. You can do it, bro!
It's not true that nobody is going to miss you... YOU will miss yourself. At times when I am really overwhelmed by my failures I comfort myself with the truth that it is still better to eat and sleep and think that to not be at all. That and the combination of anti-depressant, therapy and online-dating will help you, I'm sure. Well, it worked for me :)
Mind you i haven't drank any alcohole since age 25 and i dont smoke, i eat properly, always cook at home, probably buy take away about twice a year...etc. Still though, i just take one day at a time, juice my veggies (a good way to look after your health)..etc. I guess what i am trying to say dude is that we all have a cross to bare, but i really don't want you to feel like a failure, it's just the way life is when it kicks you around a bit, you aren't alone buddy ;)
We get rejected for all kinds of reasons my friend. Take me for example, although i have never been overweight and despite being told i look like Hugh Jackman or Kevin Bacon (how i could look like either when they look so different i willl never understand?) i am pretty much financially fucked at almost the age of 38 and a woman i was seeing when i was 25 gave me Type 2 Genital Herpes. All i get is constantly rejected either due to money or the Herpes.
2/2 i hate how you are made to feel like you have to earn more just to validate yourself. if you love your job, thats more than most people ever have. i love my work but it pays real bad too.. but i wouldnt work somewhere shit for more money.. fuck that. im not spending my life doin somethin i dont like. fuck it, ill take the bus. ; )
@SkidRowRadio Thanks for the great comments Skid. Problem is earning what I earn means Im stuck at home till the day I or my parents die. Living in london means all my wages will go on rent alone and nothing else that's why I get so down about it. THe need to move out + I don't earn a lot = depression, eating etc. But ima try and focus on one thing and ignore the other.
Skidrow really has a point. You love your job, that is a big plus. Don't focus on what you haven't achieved, but pick one thing, like improving your own self image and work on that. Don't worry about what other people think, eat less, move more and you will begin to feel emotionally better, and you will see physical changes. If you need medication to cope with depression, that's okay too. Take care and keep us updated.
as far as weight loss goes, i guess its not a static goal up ahead.. its a day to day thing eh? so you have to remind yourself every day, a dozen times a day that you need to do x, y, z to move towards your goal.
easier said than done, but there's only two things you have to do! eat less and move more! lol
tell you what, id rather be fat than going bald.. there's no stepmaster for a receding hairline! ; )
great video. if you wanna lose weight, all you have to do is become a vegan. its seriously that easy, and its so funny, because for some reason most us fatties never get it. in fact, eating becomes fun, its a challenge to get your 50grams of protein from vegetables and grains. working out is not the primary function of losing weight.
I <3 you. I made a video recently about Healthy Lifestyle, if it helps you at all. I want to give you a prescription of sunlight and nature. Long walks outside where you can take in the beauty of your environment will garunteed improve the situation. Also "the power of now" could be a great help, to stop putting things off for tomorrow, and act now! Personally I am self employed, I don't know if that would work for you? I've had bouts of depression, I feel ya.
The way I was able to lose weight was of course thru proper diet and exercise, but I did have a workout buddy. That was the key for me. Having someone with a common goal, someone who encouraged me when I wasn't feeling like exercising, someone who helped me when I was tempted to go off of my diet. And I would do the same for him. That's the only way i lost any weight. I'm not to my goal yet, but I wouldn't have been any closer without my friend. Wish I could be your workout buddy. Don't give up!
I feel you GG. I mean that. You know you are unique and there is nobody on this earth like you , we may have commonalities and differences but every individual is unique and are worthy of existence. We contribute to life and each and compare it to the constructs that are real or imagined. Everyone questions their value and contribution in life. We all influence everything directly or indirectly I think sometimes it would boggle the mind to know how much we really have an affect on each other.
I'm a skinny, moderately attractive fellow, and I guarantee that I have as much of a problem getting and keeping a girl or a job as you do. It's because I am quietly judged and passively punished for my differences as well. I am honest about my eccentricities and my observations, and it scares or confuses most people, so the only people left in my life are one old friend and four family members. And that's fine. I acknowledge that the people who can't accept me are a waste of my time and effort.
Please get "forks over knives" documentary from ...somewhere. I hate to be advicey when you're down on yourself. But eat all day long... fruit vegetables, and for meals beans, rice lettuce and salsa burritos. In other words fill up, but go vegan for awhile at least, and if you need motivation that documentary will do it. There are a couple of problems with it, but I don't want to reveal them unless someone has seen it, lol. There's nothing like weight to make people feel like FAILURES.
Hi Gingergreek I hate when other people who don't know me give advice, so I won't. I'll tell you about me though. I just left a very lucrative but unrewarding career after suffering burnout. I'd swelled to size 42 pants. While off work and in therapy I zoned in on what was causing the most stress and the weight started falling off me. I shrank to 36 pants. Now I'm in the midst of career change, going back to school to become a chef. The weight is still coming off. Good luck to you, and be well.
Oh my gosh, I really feel for you. I don't have the same problems but I can relate to the depression: when I was 10 I caught a virus that badly affected my brain and nervous system. I'm 24 now and thinking about the life I could have had is crushing. Our lives are not over though. You have to let the mistakes you made go if you are to move on and learn from them. You are totally brave for making this video and for putting it out there, I really wish the best for you.
don't listen to happycabbie, he's yoyoing all the time, gorging himself almost to death with sweets then starving himself for a week or two, that guy is the last person you want to take advice from, reduce your caloric intake and increase your caloric expense, there's no other way, that's the only way to do it, it's simple physics, just do it, don't think about it, don't buy so much food, take walks, go to the swimming pool, don't do it alone so you get encouragement, etc.
@quaxk Actually, Happy is someone to listen to because he yoyos, and he is doing really well at the moment he needs his support too as times will get hard. Its not fair to dismiss anyone's opinion. Hell I'm not in a relationship and haven't been in one for years but I can give the best damn relationship advice in the world lol because I've seen it all happen.
Hey, nobody's perfect tbh, to say you're a failure is pretty damn unfair. You do something for a living that you love, and man, that's getting rarer in this day and age. You know what you want and from what I've seen, you're a smart bloke, just gotta drill it into your mind that its what you want and follow through. You'll figure it out, and I for one would miss you if you left. Stay strong brother.
Every person is a failure in some way but I don’t agree that people are total failures coz they don't manage to make every thing. I have lost so many fights that have stopped counting but I still think I have something to give. And so have you! You are NOT a failure. But sadly I have to say the only thing you can do is to carry-one and if you focus on the small steps you actually accomplice it will be easier to make you feel better about your self. Have a skilful time. Pinge
This might seem extreme yet it worked for a large bloke who gets in our social club..he was always around the 22 stone mark, within 4 months he had dropped to 11 stones..no one could believe it, we asked how he did it.he told us he went to Thailand and allowed as many stray dogs as possible to lick his mouth, sure enough he caught worms.before he could say cream bun he was like bobby sands..he even needed feeding back up from 7 stone...
I was about your size at one point, more than 100 lbs overweight. I know how it is. One day I was looking in the mirror and didn't even recognize myself. There was some stranger staring back at me with a double chin hanging down, big fat cheeks, a pair of DDD tits, and massive gut. Who the fuck is that guy? It's a mirror, so it must be me.
It was a struggle, but a healthy diet and some weight lifting did the trick. I'll help you if you're interested.
I can make you feel better. in 1992 my car was hit by a bus and I ened up crippled and lost every thing It took me years of hard work to get back on my feet for the bitch of a wife I had for 26 years to piss off and take the lot and left me living in my car till she sold that out from under me. I'm that guy yiu hear about who got fat by not eating and I'm at 190kg. Don't get up set get pissed off and kick a kitten or 2
I'm a short mesomorph with an alcohol problem. I honestly don't know what to tell you other then, I sort of understand. I have no idea how well I'm going to do kicking booze, and cigarettes, well I don't even know if I'll be able to do so. Best of luck man.
i know i cant relate to you in that way...but i do have other problems that most people don't
also i have serious depression issues to, so i can relate in that regard, i also cover it up with fake happiness, and it always bubbles up and i feel like crap again, but remember that no one that would judge you is worth impressing.
Brother you have to rember the guy down the street with the bbw and nice house mans nothing if his liveing on one meal aday of baked beans. We all have ups and downs dont stop eating for favorite foods just cut the intake in half and go for a walk 3 time a week. I have gone through the same things as yourgoing through so if you would like to chat brother get back to me from melbourne australia
READ THIS Because there's a simple solution. You said you need to find another job. Well, there you go. Find a job that's going to make you move. I worked at a place that made labels. Simple enough, but there was quite a bit of work for a 300lb man. Just by being active at work, I lost 80lbs in one year. It was AMAZING. I could still eat what I wanted and felt great. It's just being active that's the key. Get into construction or something man. I be you sit all day for your job.
@extion I was in the building game when I first lost 90 lbs but an injury to my back put a stop to that. Thankfully my job is quite active if it wasn't i'd be even bigger. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
@gingergreek Ahh, right, I remember you saying that in your video. =/ That's too bad. Perhaps find another job that involves a lot of walking if you can? I really think they key is in the job. You're probably like me and can't stand going to a gym. It's fucking retarded to work your ass off for 8-12 hours at work, just to go home and go to a gym? No thanks. But, if you can find a job that keeps you more active, ...perfect.
When you talked about just going about your life and hoping you'll get hit by a bus it really got me, because it was honestly like you were reading out of my journal -- I've stood on a corner waiting to cross the street and thought how easy it would be to just step in front of some asshole in an SUV who's going too fast so many times . . . . *hugs* I hate to see anyone hurting so much :(
Continued...You need to change your lifestyle bud, not just go on a diet or get a bypass or any other solution for weight loss. It's not about weight loss, it's about your lifestyle. I HIGHLY recommend seeing a psychiatrist about this, or joining an addiction group. Don't be ashamed, that is the first step man...admitting you HAVE a problem. I think you are already there. Take care buddy. If you ever want to talk I'm here.
Let me start by saying hindsight is BULLSHIT! It serves no purpose and is of no benefit to reflect on previous failures other than to formulate a plan to not repeat them. What was is gone, it's time to focus on what is to come my friend. Here's my question to you: What if there was some other defect about you that you could NOT change? While, I agree obesity is unhealthy and you should focus on that, it's only a small part of the problem. You need to find happiness and contentment as you are.
Stay at it, big man. If you want it badly enough, you can wrestle those demons of addiction and bad habits. You have to love yourself though, and remember that there's far more do you than just the husk of raw material that carries you around. Your personality, intellect, and integrity is in your brain- and fat is essential for a healthy brain!
Dude, loosing weight is a fucking bitch, I know. Check my channel. Big guy. But the key is to not give up. I know, you don't want to hear it. It sounds patronising, and THIS sounds fucking patronising. But dude, you can fucking do it. KILL THE FUCK OUT OF IT.
Buy a mountain bike, buy one of those things that lift the back wheel into the air, buy a heart rate monitor bike grips, put your computer in front of the bike, ride it while watching youtube / tv series and keep your heart rate up to a set goal, drink shit load of water.
Thats my plan for losing weight, I recommend it to you aswell. I once lost 40 pounds in 3 months on a stationary bike 3 times a week for an hour ea day. (gained it back when I stopped in the winter though :(
There is hope. I've been there, been through it, but walked out the other side. Looks like you have a lot of support on here, so I'll leave it at this: sometimes it takes a moment of clarity like this to spur real, lasting change. My lowest point turned out to be the pain that saved my ass in the long run. I'll send you a private message with a few particulars,
On the other extreme I'm always being told how skinny and bald I am! It really gets me down . I haven't been to the beach for years because I'm so embarassed. Just try and get an even balance. I'm fit but am struggling to find work as well......Happy Cabbie sent me by the way. We skinnies that eat seem to have a genetic trait that keeps us from putting on weight! The last time someone proposed to go scuba diving there wasn't a suit small enough for me........I ducked out.
I had a heart attack when I was 38. I have had to learn more and more about nutrition and how it works in your body. Hell, half the time we really don't know whats going into our bodies. I am fat and I know how hard it is. Don't give up. We all love you. You have hit bottom, are you gonna lay down and stay there, or stand up and look up and climb slowly back up.
Make the changes in your lifestyle that will allow for this very video to act, in the future, as a source of inspiration for those who share this simliar battle. Make today the day you concentrate your mind on the present because with one leg in past and the other leg in future you are pissing on present. All of the aforementioned easier said than done I realize, but nevertheless my two cents. I'm rooting for you despite not knowing you GG. Subscribed!
DON'T GIVE UP COME ON!!!!your 32 you still have plenty of time you have to believe! don't say "cant I cant" if you try and fail try again you never know what fate brings... I understand its hard but if your mind is up for it you can do it. honestly you should give up and waste such a wonderful life with endless possibilities.you must believe in yourself!we all have faith...keep pushing...strive to reach your goal...look forward in seeing you when your fit :)
This is almost me to a tee, minus the gastric band - we both did animation, though I specialised in 2D. I have some idea of what you're going through.
I don't really know who you are, and I haven't ever seen a single video of yours, but I'd like to say that I really hope that you feel better. I've been depressed for the last 4 years and I still have yet to be rid of it, but I try to think to myself that it will get better.
Ive seen some of your other vids. I can tell that your a BEAUTIFUL person, with a world of potential! KEEP STRONG! And take comfort in your friends. There arent enough people like you in the world!
My interaction with you has been pretty much negative however I do have some insight on this issue as I'm fat and come from a long line of fatties.
I know 2 people who've had gastric bypass done who have gained back the weight. It doesn't deal with the actual problem so it is prone to failure. Its also a traumatic invasive surgery and people tend to seek comfort when that happens to them. For many fat people that comfort is food. You shouldn't blame yourself.
Why not become a part-time self employed webdesigner combined with your current job? You have a way with people, you're charming. See how it goes and perhaps become fully self employed after a while?
As for the food addiction. that in itself is not the problem; it's a symptom of something else.
Ah, the bag of failures you drag behind you always and occasionally you spin around by accident and suddenly you're faced with it. Best thing to do is just turn back forward and keep going; it won't ever disappear and it will always be a constant drag, but you can't let it stop you enjoying the good things in life and you never know, a few failures may fall out of a hole in the bottom.
Yeah, I still regard suicide as the default escape plan; twenty minutes spent staring at a box of razors...
Fat guys Laugh so they don't cry... it's easier to be the clown than it is to be "the fat guy" I feel you mate, I'm so addicted to food it makes me ashamed every time I eat. 6 months ago I gave up softdrink, cold turkey and that REALLY helped me with my food addiction, but I still get tempted 24x7 and I think it will be that way for years to come until I can master that. I was on a reality TV show to lose weight... put it all back on. Now I'm hitting the gym again fuck everything else. :D
I watched a few really nice response videos before watching this one gingergreek, and it sounds like you have a lot of great friends and supporters out there. Count me among them. :)
I had a gastric sleeve made just in Oct 2010. I had 236kg, lost 110kg and just now I'm about to gain it all back. I am fucking depressed all the time, have social anxiety, struggle in first semester in university(BA Arts nursing management) and am just completely alone in the course and the world. I have no friends, no social life, nothing. Nobody even asks me to go on a party, so I can't even go home alone from one. Never even had a girlfriend, the only sex I ever had was with a hooker, I'm 30.
Absolutely people are judged on looks. Thin attractive people get farther in life. Fat people are generally not happy and we know we are being judged. I learned to say FUCK THEM and I finally started to lose. Start small and don't give up.
The past is the past, it can't be changed so you shouldn't worry about it.
I know it's cliche but really: FUCK what other people think, you don't need permission from other people to be happy, think about it.
If you want to lose weight you can, it's a long (years) tedious process which you prolly already know. Take it one day at a time. Your food addition is all about feelings its a body mechanic it's not you. Next time you wanna snack, distance yourself from those feelings, be a jedi !!!
We only get a go around once and it's all over. You get one chance to make it happen. Stop living in the past and make changes for the future. You have the will and power to do anything you set your mind to. That is all.
Motivation is the absolute hardest part about loosing weight, because it's so easy to loose. The only thing I'd suggest is surround yourself with things that may motivate you. There are some really good channels here on youtube too for proper dieting, working out, etc. But eating properly is probably the biggest part of living healthy. And the hardest. Best of luck to you though, bro. I can relate. Except my major issue is sleep, or the lack there of. Major challenge every time I go to bed.
Hope you've seen all the videos of support, GG. Hang in there because it kills me seeing a funny talented guy like you go through this. You'll come out the other end, don't you worry!
I used to be there. I was very negative and depressed in general. Don't dwell on the negatives and as for your weight focus on small daily goals. Keep a daily journal on your progress for fitness and healthy eating. Every day try and do a little bit more for fitness and the weight will come off plus you'll be feeling much better. The hardest part is sticking to it though. Stay strong and I know you can do it. Good luck.
You want some insight that was given to me a while back? Let me tell you, it's not nice to hear, but you will listen and you might just look at it a different way. I'm there, and I go through the same feelings.
You can do it brother. Turn things around and stay positive. Positivity can help everything, I've been down before and I overcame it and now am a survivor of cancer. Look up and smile dude!
Hey you can lose weight. Anyone can. Just keep on being positive and you will in time lose all the weight you want to lose. Cheer up and I hope the best for you.
I see that people are already flocking in. Let me just add, health is a discipline, a science, and what often feels like a bit of voodoo -- discipline can be difficult without support. And being that this is YouTube welcome to the community and know people like Happycabbie and I are cheering for you.
never forget that you are of equal worth as any other person on this earth. bodies are over-rated anyway, please dont consider taking your life, if your 32 then believe me, you still have lots of time to get your life the way you want it, I am 50 now so trust me, I appreciate how young 32 is. honestly, you have lots of time. sometimes you have to swim through the shit, to get to the good stuff. trust me, you can find satisfaction in life. keep your head up.
This may sound odd, gignergeek, but I highly suggest you go have your testosterone levels checked. It's one of the--possibly the leading, according to some recent "suggestions" in research--causes of male depression & fat retention, muscle loss. I was thin & muscular all through my teens, then suddenly became fat, developed food addiction/depression. 14 yrs later learned my T was 4x below normal; treatment has helped my depression/suicidal thoughts, but I'm still struggling with weight/appetite.
You are right! People who aren't fat probably don't know what you've been through. I'm not fat but I know what it's like to feel like a complete failure. I now there are no easy solutions, but you have one advantage. You pretty much know what your main problem is. I have a few friends who used to be really obese but are now normal weight. They succeeded thanks to years of psychoterapy... Although, you have probably been there and done that.
I know the YouTube community loves you and I strongly suspect that there are a number of folks in RL who do and who would miss you greatly if you weren't around. I hope you are able to lose weight but, I have to tell you - you are a worthwhile human even if you never do. Just sayin'.....
It's not too late to change yourself if you work hard at it.. up until a few years ago I was overweight most of my life, I finally decided I had enough and lost about 110 pounds of fat, started gaining muscle from weightlifting and now I look and feel great. Get a grip on nutrition and exercise, thats all you need to do. Eat less calories than you burn daily, get activity, weight falls off.
I'm no expert, but if you are interested in weight watchers materials for free I would be more than glad to send you that information. If you have an addiction to eating then you still have to struggle through that but you can still eat anything you want as long as you control portions. Let me know if you are interested. Again good luck mate.
Don't feel like a failure love. You are not. You are still alive and each day you are alive is a day to start a change for the positive in your life. I know how hard it is to lose weight and I'm still on the struggle. People who have never had a weight issue will not understand what you are saying so it's brave of you to speak your mind. Believe me when you are able to do good things for yourself, you will not find yourself alone. Good luck dearest.
Hey there! Just dropping a line to say that I wish you the best. My own experience is that as soon as I stopped thinking about what others thought of me, I started enjoying life much more. Yes I was still rather heavy, but when I started getting rid of the people that made me feel down, amazingly I felt "up" so much more. I hope that helps out in some small way :)
Hey I know what you are going through. As you know I have had struggles with this for years. I started in October 2008 and now just over 3 years later I finally dropped 100 pounds. A few secrets I picked up is to ensure you are eating enough healthy fats, that can help fight depression. Finally make sure that no unhealthy foods are in your house. Invest in some sugarfree snacks to have in emergencys. Whatever you do, don't give up.
@HappyCabbie Hey cabbie. I've been watching your latest vids and you are looking awesome dude I hope to get the ball rolling one day. Thank you for the advice I may come to you on occasion for tips if that's cool?
And while I can never truly understand your position, never having been so overweight, all I can say is bollocks to those who belittle you for the way you look. If they're so shallow, fuck them! Regarding the physical health aspect as well, though, unfortunately, I don't know what to say, but I would recommend you talk to a geuine physical health expert. I'm sure that if you put your mind to it, you could lose the weight.
GG, I understand how you feel. I mean, I've never had any severe health problems, but I definitely how it is to feel worthless and disliked by most. I still struggle with quite a lot of depression for a number of reasons today which I've started getting over. All I can say is, you're a brilliant person, and it would be world's loss if you went away. No one's perfect, but you are witty and intelligent; having met you in person, I can say all this with little doubt.
I won't give up if you won't give up. One day at a time, one habit changed at a time. I'm starting with water and cutting out sodas. I'll even vlog it, if you change your mind and give it a go. I don't even know you, but I know your pain. I'm way overweight and diabetic. I'm the fat friend and big sister to those around me. Think about it. Let me know.
We all have our vices bro, notice it, acknowledge it and conquer it. Nothing worth fighting for ever comes easy, you're a badass person at heart and sure ya can say well ya don't really REALLY know me, but I pride myself in being able to detect Douchebaggery and you smell pretty far from it, take care man , peace <3 ManHeartLoveThingieStuff
It could be worse, you could always wake up as The Blue Meanie or Hulk Hogan :P
Hey, man. You probably don't know me, but I've been a subscriber for a while now. I should say I understand where you're coming from and I thought I'd just say I think you're an awesome person and you shouldn't let the bs get to you!
Life is such a battle, i here u fella. Forget the weight loss for a period i say. Think about what kind of life the person u would like to be would live and slowly work toward that. If u were offered to be that person, but had to wait 5 - 10 - 15 yrs etc, would you take it would u wait ? What elements need to change, of course diet has to be moderate, exercise has to be in there. But chasing quick losses negates the need to truly change you !
im ripped but cant get due to being socially inept. i get attention from women but to be honest id rather read a book that talk to a girl. yep. probably gonna die alone.
@nightmarekid1986 When socially adept people have trouble communicating with those who are socially inept, it says far more about the adept than the inept.
@DeeDemonwitch sorry i dont get the point you are trying to make. it says more about the adept how? they are a better person because they are trying? or they arent as adept as they think they are for having trouble communicating with the inept? what would you classify yourself so i can see the viewpoint you are trying to make.
@nightmarekid1986 What I mean is the socially adapt should be able help make the socially inept feel more comfortable and welcome. If they can't then I guess they're not as socially adapt as they think they are.
Personally I'm somewhere between socially adapt and inept.
@nightmarekid1986 WHy get ripped if you ain't gonna use it? lol If you want tips on confidence I can help you there. I may be miserable but doesn't I can't help :D
Remember that failure is not the end of anything. Failure is just a stepping stone. It's an event that gives you the tools you need to succeed. View failure the right way, and it'll only push you towards achieving your goals.
This was incredibly honest, and must have been incredibly difficult. Stay strong my man. These random people on the internet can't always help you directly, but at least we can show you that you're not alone. That you have people who support you.
I would mis you... And judging from the comments here a lot of others would also mis you.
But it is good to get it off you chest. Don't bottle it up. Maybe find someone that can help you get through this (it does help, it's a big step, but everyone that I know that has done it is happy they did it).
Alright. I'm going to get really blunt here. I'm a woman, and I'm currently overweight. When I was young, I had a great body, but this is not the case anymore. I, personally, find you a VERY attractive man. I could see myself with someone like you if I were younger and know what I know now. You speak of being lonely, and I know that feeling. Please don't give up, mate. This is our only chance. Sometimes I wish I could begin again at your age. Please give that some thought.
I always thought so. Of course I've always had a thing for gingers. When I was young, I had a red-headed boyfriend who had freckles from head to foot. MAN! I love that!
@Hereticbooks Red hair is SO pretty. I used to always be jealous of people with red hair. I don't know why they get made fun of so much in our culture right now. They are beautiful people with beautiful features. Sometimes they even have these wonderful green eyes. To die for! Everyone should be jealous!
Aren't they made fun of because of "South Park?" Lol. I think that's it. But seriously, I tried to go ginger from a bottle one time. It didn't work. It just didn't look natural on me. Now my best friend, she's gone ginger from a bottle and looks great in it. Did you ever hear Tim Minchen's song about predudice? Among others, one line in it is "only a ginger can call another ginger ginger." LOL
@Hereticbooks@fruitikay My Gingerness has never been an Issue and I am what South Park describes as a day walker (lmao) Thank you both for the kind words
I can honestly say that I think no one knows how bad depression can get as much as me. Thats why my battle of alcoholism is so difficult. Sometimes I convince myself that is better to drink than to cry uncontrollably all day. Your life is not so bad- I literally do not own a fork. I use a laptop that has half the screen broken. I only have a highschool education (althoughI am capable, mentally, of much higher learning). You, gingergeek, my friend, are doing pretty well for yourself!

Unlike obesity. Does this make sense?
727Phoenix 1 month ago
(2) My battle with weight is not a moral fight anymore; it's biological. I'm far more likely to identify real causes that lead me to real solutions. When it's a "moral" battle, the fight is often sabotaged by guilt & shame despite not having power over genetics. I've lost some because of dropping the burden of self-hatred. Failure resulted from enacting ineffective strategies. THAT'S ALL!!! Drop the guilt that's hijacking your neocortex so it can function, develop + enact new strategies.
727Phoenix 1 month ago
(1)Ever since I started learning about biological evolution, I've been amazed at what a difference knowledge about our 200 million+ heritage has made in my outlook & even my life. Example: If you & I were born over 100,000 years ago, we'd be more likely to survive starvation than many other humans. This trait, this drive to consume as much fats & starch as possible, is one of countless factors that made us (& many other animal species) possible.
Relevance?...
727Phoenix 1 month ago
The most important step in solving a problem is recognizing that there is a problem, which you've done as evident by this video. This puts you ahead of a lot of people. Most important thing regarding weight control is control your caloric intake. Compare how kcal/100g your food has and only choose food with the lowest number, which still fills you (don't lose sight of nutrients/vitamins tho). A normal male adult will require ~2300kcal daily. (cont)
playgrrrr 1 month ago
(cont'd) Distribute that over however many kilos you feel you require over the day to feel comfortable. If you're good with 1kg then that adds up to 230kcal/100g for your food of choice. 115kcal/100g if you want to go with 2kg of food, etc. My food usually has between 50-200kcal/100g. Sweets often times have 300-500, but there are sweets with only 80kcal/100g. After that, remember that carbohydrates are digested into sugar (they are long sugar chains, so is starch). (cont)
playgrrrr 1 month ago
(cont'd) Exercise isn't required to lose weight & requires a lot more determination to keep going than just observing kcal/100g amount of ur food. It will keep your system fit though. If u move very little you'll burn less than 2300kcal/day. Kcal/100g labeling is the single most helpful thing for me to not put on weight (draw satisfaction from choosing low over higher kcal food). 2nd is avoiding high CH/sugar where possible, though crop based food will always be high in CH. You can do it, bro!
playgrrrr 1 month ago
It's not true that nobody is going to miss you... YOU will miss yourself. At times when I am really overwhelmed by my failures I comfort myself with the truth that it is still better to eat and sleep and think that to not be at all. That and the combination of anti-depressant, therapy and online-dating will help you, I'm sure. Well, it worked for me :)

But ima try and focus on one thing and ignore the other.
gingergreek 1 month ago
@gingergreek
Take care and keep us updated.

what is success? who measures it?
as far as weight loss goes, i guess its not a static goal up ahead.. its a day to day thing eh? so you have to remind yourself every day, a dozen times a day that you need to do x, y, z to move towards your goal.
easier said than done, but there's only two things you have to do! eat less and move more! lol
tell you what, id rather be fat than going bald.. there's no stepmaster for a receding hairline! ; )

great video. if you wanna lose weight, all you have to do is become a vegan. its seriously that easy, and its so funny, because for some reason most us fatties never get it. in fact, eating becomes fun, its a challenge to get your 50grams of protein from vegetables and grains. working out is not the primary function of losing weight.

"Drain on the NHS" is something you've probably heard before as the vultures of hate turn on you.
First they came for the communists,

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me. Martin Niemöller.
A change of attitude as you mature is in order.

I have lost so many fights that have stopped counting but I still think I have something to give. And so have you! You are NOT a failure. But sadly I have to say the only thing you can do is to carry-one and if you focus on the small steps you actually accomplice it will be easier to make you feel better about your self.

Subscribed!

Anyway, be well, mate.

Stop beating yourself up over the past. It's gone, you cannot get it back, and you cannot change a thing about it.
Start now. Refuse to do the exact same thing that has made you sad.
Start with 5 push ups and 5 sit ups in the morning when you wake up. Just start somewhere.
Making changes in life only comes after people learn how to stop saying "fuck it" and learn how to say "fuck this".
Good luck man, it's hard, but you can do it when you are sick and tired enough of it.

Good luck.

Either way, always know that you're not alone. :)

Remember that failure is not the end of anything. Failure is just a stepping stone. It's an event that gives you the tools you need to succeed. View failure the right way, and it'll only push you towards achieving your goals.
