There is lots of mis-information on what George is. He is NOT an endangered species, there are quite a few of his kinds still around and you can buy a young one in TX and TN for $1,000 each. However he IS the last of a SUB-species of Pinta Island Tortoises, and should be able to mate with a regular Pinta Island Tortoise, but for some reason he refused to mate until a few months ago. I don't know if the female layed eggs or not?
