I just tried the mule thing and your mule does 9 carries, DYING on the 10th mine with 30 minerals on the close patch. On the far patch it died while trying to get that 10th mine. I tried it on desert oasis novice map.
With the carrier tech out, the gold base would have been a fantastic choice. The siege tech would be shut down entirely by the carrier response, and vikings would have to be in range of psy storms and the carriers to try to counter the carriers.

@Razomir I'm very chill and You need to know this. Generally Korean progamers do not play games as their best mode (I mean they do not do their best) in the laddar game and esp IMMvp himself said it in private interview. If laddar record is important for their tournament or salary, I swear they will try thier best but it is not. Actually Progamers play fake games cuz they wanna make the opponent think wrong and , they can take the advantage. in the real official match. Huk cannot ouplay IMMvp.
The cost of upgrading shields is a lot more than armour upgrades, and don't provide an additive effect on damage reduction (as most protoss units do have intrinsic armour). It's more cost-effective to get armour. The only time when I would be thinking of getting shields is if I want to do something like air + ground forces, where shields would cover both types of units.
Shields also benefit ground AND air units. So not only are buildings protected, but you don't need to decide ground or air plating. Just do shield upgrades if you go ground/air mix.
10 minutes is just over exaggerating, and if you really don't enjoy his commentary no ones forcing you to sit through it. Also it's not like you're specifically paying him to commentate or anything so Psy has the right to say or commentate on whatever he wishes.

Actually you want to drop mules on FAR-AWAY patches. If you drop a mule on a close patch it will mine the minerals but die on its way back to the command center, losing you 30 minerals. If you drop it on a far patch the mule will die on its way to the minerals and those 30 minerals will not be lost. Thumbs up so people don't follow the pro-tip!

@AssassinsDream2 you can always send the mule away before it picks up the last minerals so you dont lose them, but of course, it's not easy to remember doing it.

The closest one one I believe allowed the mule to barely deposit the 30 minerals, and one that was set at a diagonal (but still considered to be a close patch) had the mule dying on its way back. The far patches are even more obscure, since there is some degree of variance.
@AssassinsDream2 its still getting 2 extra carries on the close patch, so even tho ure losing a carry ure still gaining one overall (although i guess your losing 30 potential minerals in the end-game. Still that doesn't really matter that much)
They're not pretending to look like its easy to play baseball, its just that easy to play. And they grab their nuts because there is nothing else to do.
shield's are only worth it if you do exactly what huk did, use every unit. Normally they aren't worth it because shields regenerate anyway and EMP instantly removes them anyway. And they're more expensive to upgrade.
@ahbess Why? Shields take up a Forge slot, which should be going to either armor or attack. Plus what other units besides ground would benefit from shields? Buildings? Air? Almost negligible in any high level game. Pros don't get shields for the most part because it's a poor investment.
The MLB is like a fraternity, hence the macho attitude you are referring too. But to play baseball at its highest level with any kind if success is extremely difficult. Does Terran have a 3rd tier tech level? It seems like it doesn't. Cattlebruisers are the only thing but they are too slow, expensive and have a very weak attack, 4-5 shots from a carrier would kill it while doing itself a measly 8 damage vs ground or 6 vs air.

i think the main reason why he started off with the shield upgrades is that his army was split between ground and air and the shield upgrades helps both out, he would be getting +1/2 attack at least if he was going to go Coli, but since he ended up going Voidray the shields seem like a better choice.
omg, EPIC high templar + warp prism micro, very impressive play by huk, he certainly made tremendous improvements while playing on the korean ladder, a fearsome protoss indeed, i think his skill level mayb approaching MC's and certainly the best protoss in NA <3
nearly every protoss unit in the game naturally has armor, so giving them more armor stacks the bonus. also, most units have more hp than shields, so the reduction of damage is effective against more attacks. armor is cheaper and upgrades faster. i think the only time it would be effective to go shields first is if you know your army will be evenly split between air and ground, like huk's in this game. harassing and retreating before shields go down sounds like a cool idea, though.
idk. but i do shield upgrades. depending on the situation if i can afford. from the attk and def upgrades. the shield upgrade is the most expensive. so i think that is one thing that people dont go for. but it is really helpful for Protoss players. i usually go attk upgrade and shield upgrade. but it really depends on the gameplay overall.
@mooogles I think that what he had in mind was that shield is usefull for both the air units and the ground units, but I agree that upgrading the shields might not be that effective cause of the emps.
emp will remove shields and also, almost every protoss units has more health then shields, so in 1 fight were they die armor benefits them more then shields and shields are much more expensive (200/200, 300/300, 400/400)
BUT, when you are going ground and air shield upgrades cost less then armor for ground and armor for air and shield regenerate so it can benefit them twice or even more if you win battles, and now you can get shield and attack for air without 2 cyber cores you get forge anyway

omg, EPIC high templar + warp prism micro, very impressive play by huk, he certainly made tremendous improvements while playing on the korean ladder, a fearsome protoss indeed, i think his skill level mayb approaching MC's and certainly the best protoss in NA <3

nearly every protoss unit in the game naturally has armor, so giving them more armor stacks the bonus. also, most units have more hp than shields, so the reduction of damage is effective against more attacks. armor is cheaper and upgrades faster. i think the only time it would be effective to go shields first is if you know your army will be evenly split between air and ground, like huk's in this game. harassing and retreating before shields go down sounds like a cool idea, though.

idk. but i do shield upgrades. depending on the situation if i can afford. from the attk and def upgrades. the shield upgrade is the most expensive. so i think that is one thing that people dont go for. but it is really helpful for Protoss players. i usually go attk upgrade and shield upgrade. but it really depends on the gameplay overall.

Simple math:
Except Archons all Toss' units have more HP than shield so upgradin armor will absorb more damage.
Also against Terran there is EMP one has to worry about.

I am by no means a grandmaster, but here's an analysis.
1) emp.
2) in large decisive battles, armor upgrade is worth more than shield due to hit points > shield points.
3) timing of 1st finished shield upgrade coincides with first potentially decisive battle. See point 2.

@mooogles I think that what he had in mind was that shield is usefull for both the air units and the ground units, but I agree that upgrading the shields might not be that effective cause of the emps.

emp will remove shields and also, almost every protoss units has more health then shields, so in 1 fight were they die armor benefits them more then shields and shields are much more expensive (200/200, 300/300, 400/400)
BUT, when you are going ground and air shield upgrades cost less then armor for ground and armor for air and shield regenerate so it can benefit them twice or even more if you win battles, and now you can get shield and attack for air without 2 cyber cores you get forge anyway
