  • I was a young man in my early 20's when i first heard and loved this song. i still own this album even today. Great music

  • Get the loot in Iraq.

  • This is by far my favorite Noel Pointer track. I still perform it, even today, though not with a violinist. I'll remember Noel and his music always in fond fashion. A neighbor of his (we lived on the same block in Brooklyn), I hope his voice continues to enrich and enlighten for years to come.

  • This was my absolute favorite back, well, in the day, as they say. I was doing some fusion but not at this level.

  • I was so pleased to find this. Noel was my friend and I played in his band for many years. I miss him so much. We had such great times together in the states and overseas.

    Thank you

  • I saw him at Seventh Ave South on my birthday with my late brother. It was a great gift from my birthday and to see Noel on stage and live. He was awesome and this song reminds me of my brother who also died way too young. I have fond memories. Rest In Peace with the Lord Noel and my brother.

  • Beautiful! Rest in Peace Noel Pointer "/ Great upload Boswell!

  • This is my all time favorite Noel Pointer song...beautifully brilliant and sensual. I grew up listening to this on Howard University Radio which was part of my musical education that I am proud, fortunate and thankful to be a product of. I too saw Noel Pointer at Ft. Dupont Park, Washington DC. Ahhhh I always come back to this song to center and reconnect my spirit...just lovely.

  • Still my favorite from Pointer. Thank You.

  • An absolute musical genius...gone too soon...I remember the first and last time I saw Noel Pointer in concert....I was 19 years old..at Fort Dupont Park in Washington DC ...he blew me away.....sparked a whole new perspective about music...he was perfection..

  • Love it heard him live in 1986 w Roy Ayres and Tom Browne in St. Louis. One of the best ever live, you could feel the music.

  • nothing has anything on this!

  • Gone to soon!!!! Extraordinary Violinist from back in the day. I haven't heard this in some time....and I am still moved as I was the first time I had the pleasure!!!! Such raw passion expressed with such great skill!!! A true musician!!!!

@boswell69 Thank you for this mega upload!!!! 5*****!!!!!

  • the best

  • Remember owning this album and "Hold On". Along with artists Earl Klugh, Dave Grusin and Steve Gadd just to name a few. I never thought I'd hear this music again. Sounds even better if you can listen while perusing landscape photos.

  • uh, hmmm. Pointer was a Blue Note recording artist...... (as much as i love GRP)

  • rolled hard with this album on 8 track and columbia gold bud cross country back in '77 ... my favorite from Noel ... this was his debut effort and i still have the vinyl downstairs - on top of my Jean Luc-Ponty stuff.

  • One of my favorites! :) I can improv a good version of it too!! Very nice from Mr. Pointer. The title fits the piece nicely!

  • Every time I share this song, the person just melts. My 4th grade dance teacher would use this song for stretching. I made sure I always had a copy of this album. Bought the album 3 times.

  • I was in M&A when Noel was a student. I remember coming into the assembly and he was playing a piece from the Brandenburg Concerto and it simply blew me away. I had never had a thing for classical musical until then. Went out and bought the Concerto right away. I always think of him when I hear it. Just happened to be surfing and looked Noel up...what a terrible shame he passed on so young, but how wonderful he left such great music.

  • This is on my MP3!! LOVE IT!!!

  • He was the greatest!! Awesome back in the day and today a gifted musician I will never forget!!

  • When I was a young teen, my step Father, Buddy... played this song over and over and over and I fell in love with it. Miss you Buddy and thank you for sharing.

  • Haunting the first time I heard it Thirty..um years ago. We, the "Bridgetower Quartet had the pleasure to perform with him at a Brooklyn fund raiser. He definitely captured the beauty of violin in his jazz flavorings.

  • @raycurtfiddla He was a great musician.

  • @raycurtfiddla you are so lucky to have had the opportunity. He was a virtuoso.

  • @raycurtfiddla heard him in late 80's, great musician. Also his rendition of "superwoman'. Neildan

  • @raycurtfiddla my father used to take myself and twin brother into New York to watch him often. He was the greatest!

  • He's awesome. He's in my list with Spyro Gyro, Yellowjackets, Lee Ritenour, Eberhard Weber. Awesome jazz composer. I listened to him around the same time i was listening to Eberhard Weber. Peaceful!!!

  • when it comes to music and performance like this, then i love life! when i see people this good are no longer among us, i hate life!

  • @dadautube AMEN

  • @idealmack - AMEN indeed that is!

  • I heard Earl Klugh for the very first time in this song 32 years ago and it changed the music that I dominantly began listening to (from rock to jazz). Brought back a lot of memories for me and influenced the fingerstyle method of guitar playing I employ today. I'm still trying to catch Earl Klugh in his mastery of the guitar. Thanks so very much for posting. This made my day. Boy, what precious memories!!!

  • sampled for Capone 'n Noreaga - "Iraq (See The World)" produced by EZ Elpee

  • My sister use to date him for a minute back in Music and Art High School. Dave Valentine (Flutist) attended at the same time and their HS Band was the bomb to say the least. I remember seeing the two of them due the theme of "It Takes a Thief" (TV program during the early 70's staring Robert Wagner) and it was unbelievable. Noel was very very expressive Violinist and it said he is no longer able to share any more however he did leave a wonderful legacy of music to enjoy...

  • @BlackIceTheory Thank you for sharing those nice memories.

  • @BlackIceTheory

Yeah, Noel was phenomenal, even in M&A where there was no shortage of talent. Dave Valentine was a couple of years ahead of him, but I believe Nat Adderly Jr., was in the same graduating class, as was Thelonius Monk Jr.

They all belong to a tremendous student created group called Natural Essence (although they were not in the group at the same time.) They made one record, before the "jazz" explosion in NY died out with the death of RVR radio station. Memories!

  • @BlackIceTheory Cool, well done and I commend you for keepng it real.

Peace my man to you and sis.

  • wonderful music..can you please post wayfaring stranger

  • The Baltimore County Dance Honors Ensemble danced to this at the festival

  • This, and "Wayfaring Stranger"....magnificent!

  • sooo beautiful!

  • So beautiful :-)

  • This and Mirabella get to me every time I listen to them! Real beautiful, on my pulse music!

  • Beautiful and haunting is right. He was one of my favorites from the early days of GRP. His talent and passion is missed...

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Yes. A great musician.
