Its not good to be a desktop application. Problem isn't over programmer side its on development side, as it doesn't support multi threading which block programmers from making decent program. Now those who don't know what multi-threading is.. if you want your program to do some background tasks some logical operations you can't achive this in adobe air, we can only run one part of a program at a time, which isn't good for complex desktop applications.

@kickassdj Right. In fact this type of approach is from the early 1990's when we're used to program modal applications. Single thread has no future. Especially not when you have to load data in the background constantly as we do today.

i appreciate the idea of working in a cloud but primarily work with Adobe CS as well as audio and video and even with Comcast @ 22-25mbps this video is stuttering so I'm thinking that for 'pro' apps anything similar to something usable is quite a ways away

Absolutely not. In fact, what they are describing was developed roughly 16 years ago. It's called JAVA. If you ever need to install something like this, your PC will let you know.

Basically that developers can develop a program and have it be available on every operating system: Windows, Mac OS X, & Linux. Also for the user, this means no worries about which program will work with which operating system. Any Adobe Air program will run on any computer, so long as it has Adobe Air installed.

Adobe Air is cool sure but a bit late, it will never compete with MDM Zinc. Unless they totally sell out and add add the features that Zinc has.

But Air is very good as its a direct extension the Flash API.

Flash lite 1 and 2 has been out but mainly in japan.

Flash lite cant run regulare flash applications and is based on flash 4.0

For those that do not know Director 8.5 came out rougly 4-5 years ago and was the first Adobe application to create online media with true 3d environments. An environment you could navigate through and truely interact with. This was hudge but they have done nothing with it untill now. They now have Acrobat 3d which CAD developers and 3 modellers can embedd their 3d objects into a PDF and allow users to rotate and see layers of the model. Chris is nowhere near knowing whats going on with Adobe.

Chris is always late! Flash Lite has been around for almost 2 years thats along time in Adobe years, its old technology. Its been available for Windows Mobile 5.0 for more than a year and is intigrated into windows mobile 6.0. How can you be so far behind on technology yet be the spokesperson for it, check your facts Chrio your horribly behind the times and Air wont be anything big for a number of years just like Director wasn't.
