I think he survived because although he hit the ground hard, if he was moving at a dangerous speed he would have taken the other dog out too. I didn't see any limbs being distorted as he rolled and at the very end I think he got up. He did most of his rolling in the grass, that helped, and dogs are just very tough. I would bet that someone has a very sore dog. I grew up on farms and ranches and I have seen dogs survive a lot worse.
