Global Warming? Try Global Warning. ELENIN.ORG Shale Oil is so clean you can damn near drink the stuff........ This is the best energy resource to reduce interdependency on foreign oil, job creation, and American resources. I agree with EricIndiana .......
OSEC says they have their process down to 1-1.5 gallons of water for every 1 gallon of oil.
And most of the water being used is going towards controlling dust. So if another method is developed to control the dust then they can have that down to half that.
@CrossoverManiac After the BP catastrophe, you would think that the eco wackos would re-think their stance on Oil Shale.
But I am sure they won't and we will just allow the Queen of the Netherlands to have command of all of our 2/3rds monopoly on the substance, as Queen Beatrix is the largest shareholder of Royal Dutch Shell and they not only own all of the Colorado basin area, but they just bought up most of what was found on the East Coast as well.

1. Man made CO2 Global Warming is a terrible myth.
2. You shouldnt get your facts from Al Gore.
3. Shale Oil extraction is not using 1970s techniques or technology.
4. Shale Oil extraction has very little impact on the environment.
5. We do not have to spill our blood fighting and dying for it as we do now.
6. Natural Gas can be extracted as the Shale oil is extracted.
7. It requires 3 gallons of water for 1 gallon of Shale Oil, not 5.
8. The NWF are a bunch of Commies.
PS J/K with no. 8.

Correction to No. 7...

The pros outweigh the cons.

@EricIndiana Exactly. Eco wackos have never met progress they didn't hate.

Once again we'll be paying taxes to royalty

The most important component to the "Energy Crisis" solution is CONSERVATION! I personally contribute in the following two ways:
[1] Heavily employ bicycle for transportation.
[2] Sit in the dark without heat... My electric bill (I use no gas) is generally less than $15/month.

We only need to find a way to transport those containers from China by bike.

Plug in hybrids? That is short sighted.
The areas that could produce shale oil can also be used for wind power, and we will never run out of wind.
With clean renewable energy we can power pure electric cars (see Tesla, and think about the next generation being mass produced and affordable).
The world can be better, but only if we demand the necessary changes.

When wind turbines have an EROEI greater than 6, get back to me. Otherwise no go.
