  • God, foals is so incredible..

  • oh god please grow some balls. if this counts as rock or brit rock the gallagher brothers would kill themselves.

  • I know this band now since 2 years. The other music i listen is totally different to Foals, but i still love this band. It's so unique from all other bands i know. They are amazing. I'm looking forward for some new stuff! <3

  • i like the roxy music's country life t shirt parody

  • No es su fama, no es su dinero, no es su cabello, es la pasión que pone al interpretar canciones, por eso quiero tanto a Yannis Philippakis.

  • @elamigoporky98 You, sir, are an idiot. I saw your comments in more than three videos of them and you're as annoying and as ignorant to just rant on how 'gay' they were while performing live. Why don't you go back to listening to RHCP and just shut the fuck up? I don't think I (or anyone) care(s) about your anecdotes. You're just some really lonely guy who has to speak out loud useless opinions while no one needs them. Just get lost, bro.

  • Aires coldplaydianos

  • @caminiedz no mames

  • nice song

  • ta bien el grupo me gusta chebre sigan asi

  • ta bien el grupo me gudta chebre sigan asi

  • Saw them last sunday when the oppened a Ret Hot Chili Peppers' concert... they were as amazing as RHCP.

  • where do i get that sweatshirt

  • where do i get that sweatshirt

  • whatever happened to listening to music to enjoy it rather than find all the reasons not to? come on people

  • @mypooisbiggerthanyou erm what was the mistake? I didn't actually notice anything haha:)

  • Yannis-Dude.

  • Kind of "A Certain Ratio" meets "New Order" with their own twist. Excellent.

  • fucking amazing.

  • Foals always have such good bass runs in their songs

  • Well there's no question about it, they did mess up the tempo at the end. And this song has none of the characteristics of math rock.

  • THEY HAVE NO GENRE. THEY ARE ONE IN A MILLION (well not a million. theyre the only ones on earth)

  • when i saw this video i thought their live act was gonna suck i mean you gotta admit its a bit off but when i attended their gig its worth every penny

  • they have no genre.

  • Sorry but they didnt mean to mess up the tempo, but unfortunately they just did! Its live music it happens! Doesnt change the fact theyre amazing

  • I don't see how this was out of time...I don't see how anything didn't fit it was all on time...I've played structured music in classical bands...Most of what we played was more out of time than this. lol

  • genres are for assholes who need to put everything in a box

  • its not math rock, they just sometimes don't play in 4/4. Chill out.

  • who are the 7 cunts that disliked this?

  • Anyone know what kind of Zildjian A's Jack's using?

  • Yes.like it. X

  • Yes.tres bien x

  • Wow! Stumbled across this band! They sound amazing!

How could anyone critisize them in anyway!?!?

  • @36hunters you've just stumbled upon the best band everrrrrrrr

  • @hellomynameisdf the whole drum kit sounds horrible haha.

  • ahhh so goood :) how can anyone even criticize this?

  • i wish i could hear the bass more.

  • Who gives a poo poo, know let's just listen to the song :L

  • I don't get how this is Math Rock? That whole Total Life Forever album (I love it one of my favourites) but to my knowledge it's all in 4/4...

  • How can you hate this song !?!?!?!? ... This is what we need math rock are amazing not only that it's filled with joy and takes u somewhere i dont get you haters !!! .. Stupid

  • Who the fuck cares what it is just listen to it and enjoy it, since when was music a math problem?

  • que canción tan buena....

  • that bass drum sounds terrible.

  • This isn't really Math Rock. It's still 4/4, just with syncopation is all!

  • does anyone know what bass Walter is using?? I think it's a fender delux active jazz bass but i'm not sure??

  • @tedward181 pure genius

  • Screw all this fighting in the comments, focus on Yannis' jumper and the beautiful music and you'll be happy

  • @XallytheBear your defenition of math rock certainly is spot-on, but these guys really only touch on that genre. this band actually reminds me a LOT of the cure's album 'disintegration:' hugely layered, atmospheric, and even yanni reminds me of robert smith's voice sometimes. i love this band a lot - the various melodies they tie together are addicting.

  • They're Rock, Math Rock, Indie Rock, Brit Rock, Psychedelica, and could probably fit in 10 other subgenres. They're Amazing. and that's the only genre that matters.

  • ACTUALLY this IS mathrock...don't let bands like Fall of Troy fool you.

  • Where can I get yannis's hoodie?

    amazing version, so much emotion

  • @Themata1312 +1 foe the hoodie

  • I listen to this album because of this song and 50 seconds from one other song and i listen to the Antidotes album because of every second from that album

  • the bass riff makes this song!

  • @kaiandseanrule I think the same, the bass line its amazing, I love the intro at 1:40

  • @tedward181 Practice.

  • ahh SO good!

  • Thank You Xally, i've recently become obsessed with these guys but i had no idea what Math Rock was, started to think it was a term they made up to describe themselves.

  • new album isnt math rock anymore but man its good

  • @AdmiralBarackbar ...NEW ALBUM?

  • @iwantsmass I meant TLF lol XD

  • LOVE THIS every time i come back it gets better and better!

  • @Xallythebeta thats right, it's called math rock.

  • 5 people are cunts.

  • watchin them playin is so pleasant...

  • all Foals bass lines are fantastic... and the little sticky notes on the guitar are sweet...love Foals

  • man.. these guys were so much better before they sold out... . . .. . . . . . . jk awesome band :D
  • @XallytheBeat No way! Foals may have some influences of early Math Rock, but their music lacks the most important characteristic of that genre: Uneven time signatures! Name me one track by Foals that's not written in a 4/4 time signature!

Foals do have tempo issues, meaning they often are slightly off time. But I personally think that this only adds to their music feeling more organic, human, loveable.

  • what guitars are they playing in this? Cheers.

  • @Sylvanranger yannis uses travis bean guitars. in here he plays a 500D the other guitarist is using a les paul

  • @datommaster alright thanks mate

  • love foals

  • killer bass line

  • who cares about the tempo? they WROTE the song, they can play it however the hell they want. if you want music to sound exactly the same every single time it's played go see some top 40 garbage.

  • love Foals

  • also just like to say who gives a shit whether it's real math god it's a fucking fab song just enjoy it.

  • jack bevan you are perfect

  • he destroys the tempo because this math rock? you must be joking. it's an obvious drummer fail. i love the band thou... but i dont think its anywhere near real math. check tera melos-skin surf for real mathematical stuff.

  • 4 dislikes!!!! THEY ALL HAVE PARROTS UP THEIR CREVISES

  • @ki11er0589 Simply childish.

  • Yannis Philippakis is not a good vocal but his attitude is fucking awesome

  • I was hoping for A LOT more of the bassist! His part is fucking amazing and I could only dream of playing it! But I shall try!

  • I have been listening this song two week ago when I woke up...tomorrow? sure!^^

  • YANNIS! I WANT THAT JACKET!

  • Foals are really only part Math Rock, and even so TLF was way less of a Math Rock style than Antidotes. TLF is a better album IMO, and this song along with so many of their others is beautiful. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE, CHAPS!

  • Lol how would u no if the drumming is wrong the band are the one who designed the song they made it to obviously be diffrent Jack is beast drummer :)

  • perfect sound, me ears blessed!

  • This isnt math rock, its in 4/4 LOL

    and its beautiful

  • @Gaddaf6 That's true, but the guitar is really syncopated. It could be more ''mathy'' for sure, but it's still pretty irregular for typical rock lol =)

  • i like the bass...

  • If you guys want to complain about tempo issues... Listen to Mew. THAT'S JUST THE STYLE OF THE GENRE!

  • ahaha xD for all of you who think he plays the drums imperfect... foals make a genre which is called math rock. this kind of music has the caracteristic to have purposely incorrect drums. and its music at its best. so stfu :)

    cheers

  • @looderso Not incorrect. Just irregular start-stop techniques, atypical time signatures etc. Not to be mistaken for "incorrect". However, foals are not math. They were a long time ago, but not anymore. The only thing reminiscent of math-rock are their angular guitar melodies. So the question of changing tempo is well, kind of justified. Though I've got nothing against a little tempo change during live performances. Plus I really like Jack's drumming, so he may be excused :D

  • For all of you ignorant people out there who think they have tempo issues...DUH! it is called MATH ROCK!!

Math Rock: It is characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures (including irregular stopping and starting), angular melodies, and dissonant chords.

Thank you very much now we can all go back to our lives.

  • @XallytheBeat yep. but they are barely mathy. =)

  • @zkagtrendy So I've heard, hum...could you recommend some math rock bands? I only know Foals and Battles thnx

  • @XallytheBeat

this band is actually genuinely math rock, fits more into the indie rock genre.

math rock bands would be more like this town needs guns, maps & atlases, piglet etc.

this band, however doesn't really fit into the math category because of a number of reasons which i can't be fucked listing

  • @XallytheBeat no shit, if you can't understand this you obviously don't know ANYTHING about real music. I was in orchestra for 12 years and the timing/tempo make complete sense to me. Go listen to some plastic-packaged top 40 bullshit and if you can't handle real music, you probably shouldn't waste your time and talk shit via-youtube comment. Go watch Tosh.O

  • @XallytheBeat and if you heard the dirty projectors you would cry hahaha

  • @XallytheBeat not really atypiocal rythmic, because they never stray far from 4/4 or 3/4.

It would be atypical if they used odd time signatures.

  • @XallytheBeat This is Math rock?

  • @XallytheBeat sorry dude, but this isn't math rock hahaha. I don't see any "atypycal rhythmic" shit. Go listen some tera melos and you'll know what's math rock

  • @Duviet foals earlier stuff was much more math-sy - i guess i would describe this as IDM played by an indie band.

  • @Duviet Have you ever heard modern art is for pricks by foals. before yannis was in the band. THAT'S MATH ROCK.

  • @jagboy93 Yannis was in that band, he just wasn't singing.

  • @jagboy93 NO he wasn't! It was Andrew mears and neither was edwin.

  • @XallytheBeat this is not math rock. if you want to hear math rock listen to Battles, Terra Melos or So Many Dynamos.

  • @XallytheBeat it's fucking straight 4/4 for the entire song if I'm not mistaken, I love foals, but they're hardly mathrock

  • @XallytheBeat its an amazing thing cause to certain ears this tempo sounds totally wrong. but to some it sounds correect!! it sounds amazing! MATH ROCK!!

  • unique beautiful sounds

  • who cares if he goes off tempo and goes a bit faster? thats what live musics about, just being in the music, not perfection. I bet most of you who comment about the drums dont even know anything about music, you just saw someone else comment and saw it as an opportunity to be a smart arse.

  • EPIC!

  • This song has the best fuggin video

  • Legend....dary

  • Excellent stuff!

  • I think Jack is just responding to the music, not trying too hard to time it perfectly!

  • Yannis's jacket!!!

  • Their drummer is better than 90 percent of the drummers who watch this video so shut up

  • they are the most beautiful people i have ever seen and heard, they are fricken awesome live and i was lucky (and cheeky) enough to stroke yannis' face and then he climbed everywhere and spat beer at people... highlight of my life.

  • @Lomehz this has to be the funniest thing I've read today, cheers

  • Jack Bevan is a fucking genius!

  • what equipment and syths does edwin use in this session?

  • foals for a NME award everyone ? il be voting !!

  • you can tell by simply watchin the guy play that yannis especially is just a freakin genius!

  • Theres nothing wrong with this song therefore everyone who hates it is a cunt.

  • @stanleya5 So if I don't like this song I'm a cunt ? Geez !! are you 9 ?

  • @stanleya5 hahhahahahhahaha ahahahhahaahahahahahhahahahhaha

  • There is precisely, fuck all wrong with this song.

  • fuck you bbc for not letting me figure out that sweet bassline. fuck you long and hard.

  • "it doesn't sound like the album" go listen to the album then, seen these live several times, absoutely amazing, ive never been caught up in the music like it before, they just make me go crazy

  • Horrible mixing, can't hear yannis's guitar at all

  • @jagboy93 That's called "bad ears" in the business.

  • @fivestrokerolls12121 Don't understand what your'e trying to get at but okay? I can hear it, but im saying who ever mixed it, fucked up and made yannis's guitar way to low. Also Walter's bass could have been a tad higher.

  • Music isn't about playing "right". It's really just about expressing using an instrument. That is if you are a musician. Not someone who plays to say "I play guitar" Or "I play drums". So calm the fuck down.

  • Comment removed

  • if i can ever write like the foals can, im gunna make myself president and make it legal to marry myself.

  • BUENISIMA ESTA ROLA Y EL CD COMPLETO ESTA RE BUENO !!!! RECOMENDADO

  • I want Yannis's Zip-up! Bringing back the 90s style :D

  • Wow that is really good! I have never actually listened to these boys but this is just amazing!

  • to me sounds like they play the song a bit fast, im not an instrumental musician by any stretch, but when it breaks down again the tempo drop just seems too much too fast, whereas on the album it fits better if you get me.

  • seein 'em at coachella fuck im anxious i better get a good view

  • The bass is AMAZING! The drums are on point. It's perfect. Gahhh! I'm in love. :)

  • anyone know what headphones jack and yannis are using?

  • @jagboy93 beyerdynamic dt100 you'll find them used in most studios and cost about 80 squids.
