  • Beautiful!

  • Love your hair, so pretty :)

  • consider using smaller rollers

or for a more natural volume look use small rollers at the bottom and work your way up the head gradually using larger rollers.

  • The funny thing is that if i haven't seen your video i will think that you wear a wig; this just amazing;

  • I love it!

  • hi i loooooooooove your hair so beautiful but i have a suggestion since you were talkin about having body and volume i feel like you would have more volume and body at the top of your head if you rolled under...just a suggestion but you should try it

  • I was a little girl in the 60s. Roller sets were just how you styled your hair, period. Of course, in the years since, we've had blow dryers and curling irons, but the roller set was never improved upon. Blow drying & curling irons are both inefficient because you're putting too much time into each piece of hair. Why not just roll up all those pieces of hair & dry them all at once, either under a bonnet or in the air? Plus the result is ALWAYS better! Thanks for your video! (You're very pretty!)

  • @mahoganyCurls You have nice skin! What do you use?

  • beautiful. who would have thunk it? conditioner for a setting. i used to love wet sets when i was on 'crack'. i'm definitely inspired to try roller sets now...thanks so much for this. your hair is gorgeous~

  • I wanna try this! What hooded dryer do you use? Everybody's talking about ceramic this and ceramic that... do they even make ceramic hooded dryers??? lol *natural newbie in training*

  • @TheEbonyDiaries -hi! I used a basic Vidal Sasoon hooded dryer (It was $25)...i had for 6 years now. :) I think it has an ion setting, but it isnt anything special.

  • @MsLolipopgirl98 shes not

  • OMG YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL! I love it! Great video

  • i love your hair... if its relaxed... what relaxer do you use because your hair looks so healthy :)

  • you're 25!? you look so young! I'm sure you hear it all the time and I'm sorry but girl you're going to be slaying those wrinkly old ladies when your 40 looking like you aren't even old enough to buy alcohol lol!

  • Some layers in the front would like nice it would frame your face better.

  • can you guys check out my channel

  • Do you go to the hair salon to get your ends clipped?

  • you have sold me on tresemme!!!!!

  • oooo that hair! so jealous!

  • Hey darling have u tried fexi rod for curls

  • I like I like!!! Very pretty!!!

  • how old are you if you dont mind me asking? you have beautiful hair and skin!

  • @brenpong I am 25. Thank you :)

  • Do u ever rollerset after was n cond in order to acheive bouncy curls? I think u would b xtremely happy w/ results

  • @cuetee19 Yes, I sure do...check out my other vids... :)

  • i have the same issue like you. the last time i straightened my hair i got over it in like a day, but i was like it took too long to straighten to get rid of it. but after idk 3 days i was like im done and im washing this out.

  • Great idea! and lovely curls! I feel like straightening my hair just so I can acheive that look ;-)

  • have you tried using flexi rods?

  • @iLuvPink773 not yet, but I am soon :)

  • rolling upwards also help keep your roots straight. That really helps to when your doing a wet set on natural hair.

  • Pretty!!!!

  • Very beautiful curls!!!

  • Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

  • Is your vidal sasson dryer hard or soft?

  • @dnricks -it is a hard dryer.

  • Gorgeous results.

  • great video! i love how you achieved your curls without using any heat!

  • Out of curiosity, why didn't you want to do bantu knots or pin curls?

  • @nubiennze I just didnt feel like doing it... :) I also wanted larger curls vs. tighter curls. My pincurls end up much tighter than this.

  • Thanks ever so much for your reply Jess, as i know you have a very busy schedule aside from husband and son! I look forward now to trying the roller set with just conditioner and my hooded dryer, and i eagerly anticipate your future videos. I am sure that i can safely say on behalf of all your viewers and subscribers that we really appreciate all that you do, and for kindly sharing your knowledge with us. You're an inspiration.

  • @BeaunaturelleFeb11 -Aww! Thank you so much!

  • @BeaunaturelleFeb11 -good luck! :)

  • Just a quick tip, if you want to do less work you can use flexi rods and you wouldn't have to use any kind of product

  • EXCELLENT RESULT!!! YOU LOOK VERY GOOD!!!

  • Hi Jess. I am new to your channel. I think I came across your channel when I was newly natural a little more than a year ago. I have a coarser texture of hair with more zig zags than defined curls like yours. At the time I thought I had to search out people who had my type hair, but I have learned that is not true. I have learned so much about styling and taking care of my hair from so many women of all hair types. I think you have a beautiful personality and I love your hair. Keep doing you!

  • OMG! So beautiful!!!

  • awww so pretty

  • Hi Jess, i'm a relatively new subscriber, and would be very grateful if you did a rollerset tutorial on wet hair please. I know that when you last rollerset your hair you said in the video that you only used Conditoner, and it turned out lovely. Would you do the same again now, or use something else. Please give me some suggestions, as i want to try it soon, and don't want to blowdry or use silicones if at all possible. And just to clarify, you didn't flat iron the rollerset did you? Rsvp.

  • @BeaunaturelleFeb11 -Hi, in a few months I will do a roller setting video on curly hair. If you roller set your hair curly, you do not have to use silicones or direct heat. I didn't when I did it last March. I did NOT flat iron the roller set from last march. I only used rollers, conditioner, and my hooded dryer. This roller set was done on previously straightened (flat ironed) hair. I just wanted to add more body and curls to my hair. :)

  • You are a hair guru. I recently started the CG method (1-19-12) and i have some concerns. can yu message me in my compose inbox. thanxs!

  • @KinkyNaturalMe sure, send me a message.

  • Lovely!

  • Thankyou so much for sharing this video with us! I'm a new subscriber,so i just wanted to ask you what you use to keep your hair moisturised for the few days you have it straight please? Conditioner? Will the water in the conditioner not cause it to revert? Would really appreciate a vid on this. And finally how often do you trim your hair? Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • @BeaunaturelleFeb11 -Hi! I do not do anything for moisture while it is straight. I did this roller set and used conditioner for it, so that basically added more moisture to my hair. If I added any type of water based moisturizer to my hair, it would definitely revert. I made sure to leave conditioner in my hair while before I began the flat iron process. I trim every 6-8 months...I will try to discuss this in a video. :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Your hair is so beautiful! It is one of the healthiest that I have seen so far. Looks great!!!! Keep it up. ;-)

  • very beautiful !I will try the roller set.Do u have a video wen u straightened ur hair..link the it for me please.

  • @sunsilks thank you, no I do not. sorry.

  • Yeah..I like this better than the straighter style you had in another video. Looks very nice like this and since you roller set it I bet the curls will last longer too.

  • Have you ever attempted pin curling your hair at night?

  • @NaturallyNerdeeNicol -yes, I have in the past...it worked out fine.

  • Beautiful style

  • wow i'm soooo glad you did this i will diffenately try this out. and i look for to ur roller set on curly i have not had a successful rollerset on curly or straight hair. and i'm diffenately gonna try this thanks so much. ur hair look beautiful mashaAllah.

  • Just lovely!

  • You liking moisture in your hair is what has gotten it soo long keepp it up

  • Your roller set turned out amazing! Gorgeous!

  • wow that made your hair look relaxed

  • Left handed! Ahh it fricking makes sense.... I can't rollerset "conventionally" and have to roll under... I feel normal now :)

  • Wow, you did an AMAZING job!!! Gorgeous result as always. I have such a hard time using magnetic rollers. I recently tried 3 inch rollers and I couldn't get enough tension at the root. Maybe I can practice more after flat ironing like you did. Again, thanks for sharing.

  • Love your videos!!!!!!! I am a fan n your is just soooo beautiful- looking forward to growth - I was in transition for a while n cut the remaining perm this Nov- My hair is short didn't do the big chop but it is just above my ears!!!!! Hope you keep doing videos;)

  • I never thought of doing this.! I will most definitely be trying this.! Thnks for the tip.!

  • what kind of hair dryer do you use? My head plus the rollers is too big to fit under the dryer evenly.

  • @dnricks -I have a vidal sasoon (sp?), but I didn't use it for this set, I just let it air dry.

  • Beautiful. I just love the way you nurture your hair. Your videos have helped me on my hair journey.

  • I use the MaxiGlide 250 degress only 2 ps bys on small sections and than f I use the CARUSO HOT ROLLER STEAM SYSTEM. Both use ONLY WATER. I never straighten my hair. But I decided to keep it staight for the winter and I weekly wash/DC/Hot Oil Treatments/Henna and all with a Heat cap and over nights. My hair is great and healthy and I have Mid Back Lenght and growing. Sept /2009 will be 3 years. Try the Caruso Steam Hot Rollers from Sally's.

  • @mattiesmith1 Not to be a creeper, Mattie, but can you tell me more about your process? whar does "2 ps bys" mean? And do you think the Caruso could be used for a roller set without having straightened the hair first?

  • @selah21740 You didn't ask me, but I'm thinking "pass by's"--basically, 2 "passes" or strokes of the flat iron over the hair.

  • personally, i think the way you roll your hair is the better way. when you roll it the way you do i find that the hair sits better when the curlers are taken out. the overall look, to me, is much pretty than if you roll under.

  • Beautiful curls!

  • Beautiful curls!!

  • Wow, that was great. I like that there is another way achieve curls without using heat.

  • It is gorgeous!

  • beautiful, and great job!

  • very pretty although i feel if you wanted more volume you probly should have rolled the hair over the rollers not under.under flatens the root over puts some bulk in them!still look goregous though!:)

  • Im the same way when I straighten my natural hair. I get bored within 3-4 days. I just end up washing my hair out by the mid end of the week just to get my curls back. I cannot believe I used to be soo in love with straight hair ( relaxed days ) I don't see the hype!.. Loved your hair btw

  • @LoveNaisa -I know! I love my curls!!!! Thank you!

  • @LoveNaisa that is so true...I've been natural for 14yrs & in the last few yrs I started wearing my hair straight (blow-out & flat-iron), well after some minor heat damage I decided no more heat & I haven't even thought about wearing my hair straight, just something about natural curls

  • Looks great!

  • Lovely! How long was your hair before you went natural?

  • @mochamoments -I had it cut into an angled bob...but it was healthy.

  • Your hair looks so good; you take care of and style it so well!

  • I just started the CG method thanks to you! I was having problems getting the look I wanted with twistouts and braidouts. I like protective styling, but it is time consuming to put in and it is too much manipulation sometimes. My hair is already tightly coiled and I just thought "hmmm, it would be easier to just wash n go!" So thank you for the inspiration... ur hair is very pretty ... watch out virgin remy you've been replaced cause black women are growin out their own hair! boop! #nene...lol

  • looks so pretty!!

  • your ends are great

  • Im left handed too. : D..and wow..an epiphany!..i usually could never do these kind of styles because rolling under never felt right...upside down makes sense to me!..wow thanks jess!..when did u set your hair...same day or nite before?..u have such patience to air dry..i hope the diffusing isnt hurting my hair too badly.. : /

  • @watchfuleye2008 -The same day! I cannot sleep in these large things! Yay for lefties!

  • I was thinking of trying the conditioner only again and was wondering if i should since i have color in my hair. Will it mess up the color in my hair by leaving the conditioner in?

  • @MsChelCD -Hi! Conditioner is great for color treated hair! It will provide you with the moisture that you need! Since color treated hair tend to be dryer.

  • @MsChelCD *i mean drier...

  • simply luscious!!

  • So pretty!

  • Super Pretty!!!!

  • IT LOOKS GORGEOUS!

  • Very nice! I never would have thought a conditioner would give curls like that on straight hair.

  • How tall are you?

  • @GwendolynRaine 5'1 :)

  • Gurrrrrl your hair is the bomb..lol Loving it:)

  • very pretty results

  • Thanks for this!

  • Very pretty :)

  • omg, I love black girls in rollers, wow, you look so sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful

  • It turned out really nice!

  • Wow! Your hair is gorgeous! I never would have thought to use conditioner as a setting lotion on straight hair:) Just a quick question, can you over conditioner your hair?

  • @swhatley1226 - I am not sure about over conditioning. I have been using conditioner exclusively on my hair for 3 years and it is fine... :)

  • @MahoganyCurls Wow you have not used shampoo in years!! I decided to do the curly girl method

  • @MahoganyCurls u don't use a clarifying shampoo? do your products have cones? do you use a clarifying conditioner? your hair looks lovely btw, hhj!

  • @fanatic709 no, I do not use shampoo while my hair is curly. There isn't a need for it (for my hair) My curly hair products do not contain silicones. The only time I use cones or shampoo is when my hair is straight (now). Silicones protect the hair from the use of heat, and I will have to use shampoo when I revert back to the curls to remove the silicones out of my hair, because I do not use them while my hair is in its natural state. I hope this makes sense... :)

  • @swhatley1226 yes u can over condition ur hair. if it's mushy when wet & overly stretchy & breaks it's over conditioned. u can over do protein as well that's when hair doesn't have enough elasticity & breaks. i know when i started my hhj i over conditioned w/ co washing bc i based my reg on others. i'm not natural maybe that's why it's easy 4 me 2 over do moisture. yeah so you've always got 2 find out what works 4 u! good luck! hhj!

  • luv the way it came out thx

  • Love, Love, Love it!!!

  • I recently used tresseme naturals as my leave in and OMG I got so many compliments on my hair. I've used the CG meethod but my hair sometimes seemed frizzy but that did the trick.

  • @mrsakitchen -Awesome!

  • Your hair is beautiful....do you trim your hair yourself? It looks very healthy

  • @Shemsa08 Thank you, yes I do trim it myself :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Very pretty!

  • very nice, I finally flat ironed my hair last night since no heat in 10 months and it really grew.

  • Very Pretty :)

  • Nice video. Did you air dry it or sit under the dryer and how long did it take to set?

  • @101Corkscrews -I air dried it...for about 3 hours. It took about 25 miniutes to set it. :)

  • Hi,

Your hair looks very nice. Recently I saw a great video for naturals who straighten their hair. Check out SisterWithRealHair, she has a 5 part video on how to get salon straight hair. It is good to know in case you every want the kind of bounce she has. Her hair is fabulous.

  • Love the look....did you let it air dry or did you sit under the dryer?

  • @mrshappytobenappy - I let it air dry about 3 hours...

  • Love it but i think next time you should use some flexi rods i think you will get more volume at the top as well :)

  • what kind of camera do you have? great video like always!

  • I absolutely LOVE your hair!!! :)

  • Nice! You have a lot of patience.

  • Ohh pretty

  • Pretty!!

  • @kiwi0686 girl, I do! I love it!

  • Awww! So pretty! I need to buy me some rollers.

  • Your hair looks like it it not grown from your scalp when you are done. I love that.

  • I love it.!
