  • I love you & pray for you. Yet I want you to know that's not your true identity. Satan has lied to you & deceived you. May God set you free of this bondage. You are love by God but God wants u to know ur true id. Seek the face of God for truth not exception.

  • This is awesome. (Is there any chance I could get an acapella track to remix?)

  • @JohnLaceyTV Oops John - just saw this. Wow, how flattering! I'll message you.

  • You can't imagine how this last 2 years made the difference. All the friends FRIENDS know i'm gay and mother too (she knew already like you say), i feel more Loved than ever because now they really really know me, and then they love Arthur too, can't ask for more! Anyways, it's gay pride month in Portugal too and next week LGBT's can now get married and be happy like everyone else! It's a great year and tonight i dreamed with you Mike, lol, true! ANYWAYS, i'm happy! Hugs. ;D

  • @f3xpgm Félix, I am so happy to hear that. It's been so brave of you to be out of the closet online before family and friends knew...and I'm thrilled to know they have now accepted you so readily. I'm glad to see you can live in your hometown with your family and have such support. I wish that kind of experience upon everyone out there who is struggling. I really look forward to seeing you again this summer and who knows - maybe I can talk some others into coming as well. Happy pride month!

  • Thank you for this. So many people didn't have the same fairly positive experience coming out that my sister had.

  • @ebiannah Yes, and even in this more enlightened day and age people still struggle. This was truly a labor of love.

  • Happy Pride Month to you as well! Great rendition of that song and great message in the video. : )

  • @capergirl1976 Thanks Alesha - it great to know that something my heart got set on doing meant something to you too.

  • This is like having a song & a blog all in one. I had to watch it twice to get both angles properly.

I was thinking this sounded a little like Erasure & then read the text.

Great stuff Mike. Enjoy your month.

Btw, did you know that Andy Bell now lives in Hastings?

  • @andymooseman I had no idea Andy Bell lived in Hastings, Andy! Wow, you just have a who's who of pop stars there! He was one of few out gay singers in the mid '80s and I was so inspired/encouraged by him. I luckily got to tell him so one night after an Erasure concert in a gay bar in Chicago. Reminds me I need to check out his new solo album, though those tend to be a bit gay-generic-disco for my taste. :)

  • Beautiful wish, Mike! Great encouragement, too.

    Peace!

  • @Elaina43 Thanks Elaina...there's only so much friends and family can do but man I hope we can have some kind of positive effect.

  • @musosf Me, too!

  • not exactly my kind of coffee

  • @nescius2 That's OK...all flavors can exist peacefully here. Thanks for stopping by.

  • All that scrolling wisdom would make a great Vlog :-)

    Nice performance.

  • @Ranblv Thanks Ran - yeah...I'm a better writer than vlogger but occasionally I'll do that. :)

  • Great song & video - I had to watch twice, first just to read the blog-crawl, and again to pay full attention to the song.

  • @kenrg Muahahah my view-maximization plot succeeds! Now I just need to set my spam bots loose...

    *awakens from YouTube nightmare*

Thanks Ken - it was nice to recall the feeling of making a video because I felt compelled to address an issue close to my heart.

  • Good one :-) message you about next month soon

  • @eefgirl Got your message, checking with Rich - looking forward to it!

  • Do we have a straight day where we all get the chance to dress up as fairies and parade down streets? ;-) Only kidding. Not hater :-p

  • @TheSpankymonkey I get ya. I don't much go for the annual festivities because I often feel those are for people early in the process (I know I took great value from them in my early coming-out days). But it's empathy for people early in the process that inspired me to make this video in the first place. Anyway I think that day may be Halloween? :)

  • @musosf - Hmmm. It is strange that one group really celibrate their sexuality like that. The majority of times you here an explanation for it you always hear tales of celibration of the end of persecution etc. Though i don't really buy into that, a great many of the really camp ones would probably do the same with or without a reason. I am wondering why there is still a hangup of any hetero display of sexuality in public though. I guess we never lost some victorian style attitudes....

  • lol reminds me of erasure kind of music

  • @greacelightning72 Hee hee - it is them! Fiies by in the text scroll too fast, I guess.

  • @musosf i must say i agree but i could read most of the words lol

  • @greacelightning72 Yeah I'm too wordy for a nice slow scroll! Thanks for watching anyway.

  • @musosf no problem lol

  • My mother didn't have a clue — no one did. My 'coming out' night was like a horror movie — but one that, with distance, you have a good laugh at: the response was so hypermelodramatic. Everyone's all a bit embarrassed now about the way they reacted — and they're all very vocal in their defence of same-sex rights. We've come a very long way together.

  • @TheraminTrees I guess I should amend my statement to "if anyone knows, your mom does". Sorry to hear you had to work through such a reaction, Link...but glad to see what a fine person you've developed into and that you now have so much support. When we have histories like this, it's so wrenching to see others still struggling in the early stages of the process. I look forward to a day when more universal acceptance makes the coming-out process easier for everyone.

  • You're doing a fine job of spreading the message that it's alright for all of us to be who we are... The song even sounded good :)

  • @fehquig Thanks so much. I have to say that it's a message I've found reverberating around YouTube since I started here. One of the reasohs I came to like the people here so much.

  • Yay, what a great song!!! ♥ ya

Makes me sad one of my uncles never did come out of the closet in his 68 years. And proud another uncle finally did in his late 40's.

  • @Blizzeekitty That is really sad, Jenn. I hear/read stories about people who pass away at advanced ages never having settled down with anyone. And I wonder: were they gay in a time that just made that life not an option? Did they secretly have long-term or short-term lovers? Or did they just prefer to be alone? The thought of someone living an entire life secretly saddens me. I hope I can help anyone I encounter who's on that path.

  • Awesome video Mike! -Jim

  • @CountryComesToTown Thanks a lot, Jim!

  • They always know.... yep, so did mine.

Their track lighting trumps ours. LOL

Beautiful song. Beautiful message. And kind of an Erasure feel going on as well... also beautiful!

Mic, a/k/a PaintedRavenSong, has referred to it as living an authentic life as she's shared her own coming out story here on da'Tubes. Even after being out of the closet for a quarter of a century now, I find that I gain much needed insight from hearing her, you and countless others share their stories.

  • @OhCurt Thanks a lot, Curt...it actually is one of their songs (credit buried in the beginning of the text scroll). It was a very uplifting song for me during that long-ago eventful year of 1985.

I thought I was too long out of the closet for Pride Month to mean much to me anymore...and I was wrong. There are always those around us who need our support. As the gay "elders", we're in a great position to help.

  • Wow - beautiful!!!!! Mike - the song, your rendition and the text you added are wonderful.

  • @thizizliz Thanks Liz - of course it's always gratifying when people relate to your message. But most of all when it's one as close to your heart as this one is to me. Knowing that there are people out there struggling with their identity frankly brings me to tears. But seeing the abundance of love and support that's here even in our little community gives me hope for them.

  • I am proud of all my gay/lesbian friends (which by the way are almost 50% of my friends) because all of them are happy, proud and comfortable in their own skin :)

Great song as always :) Happy LGBT month!

  • @Zublime75 Thanks Salime - you're rightly proud of them...it's not an easy process to go through! But as I've learned over the years, there are often teens or even adults you know who still harbor these secrets. It's worth risking offering them support.

  • This is awesome...thanks for sharing Mike :)

    xoxo

    Maddy

  • @MYSHELLSEA So glad you stopped by and that you liked it, Maddy!
