  • Title: "As The Road Winds"

    -GoogleTranslate

  • I wish he would put more bass in his pieces because I play bass :( But either way he is fantastic and in the end it will not matter because he is true musical genius!

  • I'm happy to have been born so I could listen to such beautiful music

  • I wouldn't be a good orchestra conductor. I'd be to busy crying my eyes out and appreciating the beauty of the music to do ant actual conducting.

  • I cried. Too beautiful....

  • this isnt the right name of the song lol

  • i love the cello =D , he uses a lot of cello in his pieces !! i love this dude

  • 4 people were eaten by ohmus

  • This is from "Kaze no tani no Naushika ", known as Nausicaa...i really love all the masterpieces of Joe Hisaishi and Hayao Miyazaki movies!!!! Simply the BEST!!!!

  • this is called Valley of the Wind indeed but i'm afraid you've put in the wrong Japanese title!

it's what it showed on the video response. thanks for sharing though :)

  • 4 people don't understand the emotions of life!

  • His smiles at the end make the piece all the more magical :)

  • I have been listening to Joe's music since high school - that was more than 2 decades ago... and they still make me cry every now and then....

  • Its quite clear that 4 people have no taste in music or know what a masterpiece is. T_T

  • if i was there, i'd be pretending i got dust in my eyes, just so people didn't know i was shedding tears

  • 4 ppl fail

  • i cant believe that there empty seats!!

  • @freakofnature1yo probably cause everyone wants to get closer to his brilliant music!

  • @Erniethecatisawesom the place should be packed with people!!

  • osamu tezuka for manga, hayao miyazaki for anime, akira kurosawa for film, joe hisaishi for music. those are the analogies i make.

  • Four people should not have internet access.

  • it's truly rare that brilliance is this accessible....!

  • This is pure music you can feel...

  • this is lovely =D

  • 4 people mustn't have souls

that's the only explanation i can think of...

  • Hisaishi left me breathless

  • 4 dislikes>?

wow idk who wouldnt like something this great.

joe hisaishi is my favorite music director and writer.

  • Joe Hisaishi really is a one of a kind composer who can create music that is so full of emotion. I also give credit to the musicians that play the music that he composes. The musicians and the composer must work together to make such beautiful music.

  • 正しくは「谷への道」(風の谷のナウシカ)です

  • <3 1:47

  • How do you dislike this?

  • okay for you 3 people that dont like this your all stupid D-A'S!

  • I just cannot stop listening to this over and over again

  • dude...i want this guy as my grandfather.

play me lullabys day by day:D

  • "Lullaby" is from " Goran Bregovic "

  • Joe Hisaishi is a musical mastermind.

Hisaishi and Miyazaki were destined to collaborate and create works of art.

Both are nothing short of brilliant!!

  • amen

  • @TheMenditto

Agree. Miyazaki's movies are only made better by Hisaishi's music, and vice versa.

  • gave me goosebumps i love it!!!!

  • Could someone name me the title for this brilliant masterpiece ?

    Thanks ;)

  • Some parts of this song reminds me of Chrono Crusade..but I don't know why...

    *claps for Joe* amazing job!!

  • home

my parents wishing well good grow up

  • the cellist at 0:53 ... HES THE MAN!!!!

  • yeah ive seen him in alot of videos some dating back quite far indeed.

  • there is so much emotion and passion he puts into his music. It's truly amazing some of the work he composes and how it can move a person!

  • Music by Joe Hisaishi is my favorite, when I get married I'm playing his music XD

  • Grr, but they are many pieces he has made. Which one would you do?

  • same here....something from howls moving castle

  • Agree with ogiwaraX.

The real title is 谷への道 "Tani he no michi" from Tonari no Totoro, which can be found in the " A Wish to the Moon with 9 Cellists" album.

He wrote the right title in the infobox but not in the main title.

  • if you listen to this and then the one from the OST from the valley of the wind, especially around 1:06 to 1:13, you can tell they have the same sound.

  • I am pretty sure this song isn't called 風のとおり道

and if it's actually 風のとおり道, then it's not from Valley of the Wind, that song is from My Neighbor Totoro

I LOVE this song though, could someone please tell me what it's called?

  • 風 = Wind

so i think it should be correct. This song is valley of the wind.

  • Hi,

even this song is a little different,

but I'am sure a part of this song has play in the 風の谷 as background music.

If rewatch again, you will know it...

o.. I hope I can go for his concert in Tokyo this Spt...is gorgeous!

  • i wish that i can tgo to one of his concerts

  • 風のとおり道 じゃないけど、谷への道だろう。タイトルが間違った。

  • where does everyone keep pulling the japanese from? i want to type japanese!

    <: (

  • copy and paste from another website or from some program or have a japanese comp o3o that the only way i think...

  • They get it from their computer. You just have to change your settings to the right one or install an extra language pack and presto there it is.

  • I wish there were nine cellists in my uni, let alone 9 good ones!

  • moe210333: "I feel something similar to the life force of the grand earth."

    そうです?でもタイトルは風のとおり道ですよね。なんか大地とは違う感じがしますけど...俺もそうだし。

  • Oh, I didn't see his last post. Her. Well there you go...

  • You do have spelling errors lol

As for rinwhr, well, it's true that FallingHeaven did mention it as if there is such a thing as a 'real meaning of music' a 'right way to conduct instruments' regardless of era, audience, and variety of the musical pieces. Which I don't agree with.

However I don't think he meant to insult anyone.

  • OMG! The ending (near 3: 19) is pure GENIUS!

    I love this!

    What an AMAZING performance.

    A million*!!!

  • Amazing performance!

  • This music makes me want to fly...

  • なんか大地の生命力みたいなのを感じる。

  • vVvFunny arguements down therevVv

I say shud up and enjoyee the Grat musik!

(No I do not have grammar errors)

  • ^^''''

Hehe, OK, uhm, I just want to say that I wanted to show my feelings for Joe Hisaishi's work and not to insult anyone or something. So, I hope this discussion is over now. I'm sorry for any misunderstanding and so.

And eh, I'm a girl, not very interesting but Ok... ^^V

  • >.> this argument is starting to get out of hand, mainly because of misinterpretations. I know I am a third party, but rinwhr, you, just did not see the "we" in Purpleshoez statement, "and why did WE randomly assume that fallingheaven is a guy?" simply because he was not referring to it in his previous statement. This whole "grammar argument" was derived from that, and the "get a life" bit was a bit unnecessary. I"m sorry if you do not accept my opinions. Again, i'm just a third party

  • it's the best music ever and I love every song

    form joe hisaishi so much

  • he makes you believe in music and the power it has over you.

  • まさに芸術。素晴らしい。

  • I think Hisaishi knows what music is, the real meaning of it, youknow. I think every instrument has its own beauty, and Hisaishi knows how to use the sound of cellos here.

Inspiring, his music makes me cry from the inside.

  • No, I think it's better to rephrase that. By making that statement you insult musicians of the old. I think it's better to say that he knows how to use musical instruments to live up to today's standards.

  • i think fallingheaven means that joe knows how to reach inside of you and touch your soul, which is the "real" meaning of music.

  • I know, but he is saying like Joe is the only musician that can do that. Which isn't true.

  • no he isn't saying that Joe's the only musician that can do that. he just said "I think Hisaishi knows what music is, the real meaning of it, youknow. I think every instrument has its own beauty, and Hisaishi knows how to use the sound of cellos here.

fallingheaven didn't say anything about him being the only one.

besides, Joe "touches your soul" in almost all of his songs.

and why did we randomly assume that fallingheaven is a guy?

  • "Hisaishi knows what music is, the real meaning of it"

Assuming you are going to attack me by using a male reference, I can address that "he" is a common pronoun in general, and sometimes "he" in many formal uses represents both sex.

  • i didn't. notice i said "we."

and if fallingheaven was going to say that joe's the only musician who knows what music is, then they would have worded it like that.

  • "we"?

He didn't have to say "Joe is the best, every other musican sucks ahahah" like that. He speaks indirectly.

  • only because you interpreted it like that.

you know what, i think you need a life and you need to stop arguing with me about grammar. i was only saying that i think fallingheaven means that joe knows how to reach inside of you and touch your soul, which is the "real" meaning of music. and you don't have to walk all over my opinion. this comment page is littered with this stupid argument and ppl don't want to read that.

  • You started criticizing me for sexism, do not deny it; evidence is written in this conversation. I pity your meaningless insults against me ("get a life"). Nothing is said about your grammar; I just couldn't find the word "we" in our argument.

I don't know why you are going back and forth with your points. Besides of accusing me of being judgemental, you should really reread the arguement.

  • 美のメロヂ。

  • i LOVE this man. all he does to put CELLOS in the spotlight instead of VIOLINS. i wish i could play these pieces as well. can anyone tell me where i can find the sheet music? PLEASE?

  • google ichigo sheet music

  • How beautiful! His composing is perfection!! Some people are born to do something for us to be still and appreciate, how music can be so stimulating!!

  • This guy and Yanni are my favorite composers.

  • OMG ME TOO

  • It is amazing, the tonal textures he creates with just cellos. In the world of modern music, he is a god.

  • I agree dear. Hisaishi`s the best. His wonderful music caress our souls.

  • whta's this piece call?

  • Road to the Valley

    谷への道

Though I don't hear it in the movie.

Can someone tell me where it's sounded in the movie?

  • It's possible that it wasn't in the movie. Did you check the image album or the symphonic album? It's in those.

  • that was so nice.

  • joe is the bomb!

  • Awesome!

    Another best anime ever!

    Thx.

  • oh man.. the cellos are beautiful.. lol its normal cellos, bt the way how they film it, its just beautiful

  • holy buckets, the whole thing left me speechless!

  • wow, this really is the most beautiful piece of music. He is a genious.

  • -_- they are using their peripheral vision.... i plays the cello too

  • actually, they do follow his conducting from time to time as they will either look up or glance up to make sure they are on tempo, that they come in at the right time if they are resting at certain bars, not too loud or too soft when required, end together at the same time etc etc. Eg, like at 2:44, that guy with spec is following his conducting so his will come in at the same time as everyone else and on tempo. =>

  • when u can write a gd piece of music like this, u have the right to criticize the way he conducts it

  • bof...

  • bof?

  • Isn't that French? Bof was a response to "How is your day?" in my French class or something. I forgot what it meant, though...

  • Bof isn't a real word, but it stands for "Nothing special" or "Not too good" depending on the context.

  • O:

I should tell my French teacher this; our text book thinks it's real. Does that mean it's like slang? o.o

  • Well, I'll just say I'm not sure if the French language considers it a "real" word or not. Everyone who speaks French fluently has to know that word from hearing it so often, and it's most likely been used in books and such too, so I guess it does count as a real word.

People often say "Bof, ça va", but it also works on it's own.

    Hope this helps, even though I didn't really answer ^^;

  • wait, do they have two names for the american version or is it simply "Nausica of the Valley of the Wind"? cause some people seem to be deeply confused.

  • In Japanese its 風の谷のナウシカ Kaze no tani no Naushika which literally translates to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Kaze no tani being Valley of the Wind)

So no, there is only one name for the movie.

  • Well, they did come out with that crappy translation where they cut 30 minutes from the movie, and I believe that was called "Warriors of the Wind."

But I don't really count that.

Because Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki don't.

  • i wanna meet him!

  • unbelievably good

  • He really loves what he does, doesn't he..and so good at it

  • i have never seen someone like this ... i feel that the music come out from every single cell in his body

he is one of the kind

thx for this piece of art :D

  • 谷への道 is from the anime "Valley of the Wind"

  • nausica?

  • You're right :)

  • This is Joe Hisaishi?? Wooow.

  • professional

  • Great~
